How many items fit in a double chest?
A double chest has twice the 27 slots of a single chest: 54 slots in total. Each slot holds one stack, so multiply 54 by the item’s maximum stack size. The Minecraft Wiki’s units-of-measure guide uses 54 stacks, or 3,456 items, as the full-chest example for items that stack to 64.

These totals follow the item’s stack limit, not a different chest size. Microsoft’s Bedrock item documentation describes 64 as the default maximum stack size and includes examples of limits of 16 and 1.
How much can a double chest hold with shulker boxes?
If all 54 chest slots contain filled shulker boxes, and each box contains items that stack to 64, the total is 93,312 ordinary items: 54 boxes × 27 slots per box × 64 items per slot. This calculation assumes every shulker-box slot is filled to its maximum; shulker boxes cannot be placed inside other shulker boxes.

A chest’s 54 slots and the shulker box’s 27 slots are documented in the Minecraft Wiki’s chest entry. The number is a theoretical packed capacity; the actual total is lower if some slots are empty or contain items with smaller stack limits.

How to calculate capacity for another item
- Find the item’s maximum stack size.
- Multiply that number by 54, the number of slots in a double chest.
- If using shulker boxes, multiply the item’s stack size by 27 slots per box, then by the number of boxes stored in the chest.
