The blue Reaper is The Drowner. Get out of the rising water and move to higher ground; you can survive the event without killing it. The flood ends when The Drowner is defeated or its event duration expires. If you want to end it sooner, your attack or kill effect must work against that particular Drowner and stage.
What the blue Reaper does
The Drowner is the blue Reaper tied to the flood event. In the common version, it stays near the lower-left of the screen while water rises across the lower part of the map. Contact with the water damages your character. It is not the Red Reaper that rushes you when a stage reaches its time limit.

How to survive the flood
- Move away from the water as it rises.
- Head for higher ground and stay out of flooded areas.
- Wait for the event to end. The flood disappears when The Drowner is defeated or its event duration runs out.
This is the simplest response if your goal is to stay alive: you do not have to kill The Drowner to outlast the flood.

How to defeat The Drowner
Use attacks that can reach The Drowner. Whether an instant-kill effect works depends on the particular appearance; the community-maintained Drowner reference documents exceptions among stage variants. In particular, do not assume Pentagram works against every version: it does not affect the common Drowner event, though some variants are vulnerable to it.
#1 Best Overall
The Lycaeum
For The Lycaeum Drowner, poncle’s Steam update gives two ways to defeat it: deal raw damage or reach the top of the stage.
Choose between waiting and fighting
| Approach | What to do | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Avoid the flood | Move to higher ground and wait for the event duration to end. | Simplest immediate survival option; the event ends only when its duration expires unless The Drowner is defeated first. |
| Defeat The Drowner | Use attacks that reach it or an applicable instant-kill effect; on The Lycaeum, deal raw damage or reach the top. | Can end the event sooner, but the method depends on the stage and Drowner instance. |
Do not confuse it with the Red Reaper
The Drowner is the blue flood-event enemy. The Red Reaper is a separate enemy that appears at the stage time limit and pursues the player. Advice about defeating the timed Red Reaper with evolved weapons is not the solution to the blue Reaper’s rising-water hazard.
