How much iron for a full set of iron tools?
Here, “full tools” means the conventional set of sword, pickaxe, axe, shovel, and hoe. Their recipes use 11 ingots:

For armor plus all five items in the conventional tool set, the arithmetic is 24 + 11 = 35 iron ingots. This is a calculation from the component recipes, not a separately published game statistic.
How to check recipes in your game

Where to get iron ingots
Mojang’s 2019 iron-ingot article describes obtaining ingots by smelting, finding them in structures and chests, getting drops from certain mobs, and trading with some villagers. The article said iron ingots appeared in 33 recipes at the time of publication; that is a 2019 figure, not a confirmed current recipe count. Mojang’s iron-ingot article.
