What the listed storage figures mean
PC: minimum versus recommended
Steam and Epic both list 17 GB minimum and 23 GB recommended for Windows. Steam also lists a 17 GB minimum for macOS and Linux. The Steam page notes that initial installation requires a one-time internet connection for Steam authentication.
Switch: two different eShop entries
Nintendo lists 16.9 GB for the Switch base-game entry, which includes the latest game updates and four additional content packs. The Anthology listing is 17.0 GB and includes the game and previously released console content, including Rise and Fall, Gathering Storm, and the New Frontier Pass. The small difference between these figures reflects separate store listings; it should not be treated as a like-for-like comparison with the PC minimum or recommendation.

Will the installed game always use exactly this much space?
No. Storefront requirements are guidance for available or required space, not a current device-measured installation size guaranteed across updates and content choices. A PC installation can vary with patches and installed DLC. Steam lists numerous add-ons and separately sold expansions, but its listing does not provide a current total for a fully patched PC installation with every optional add-on installed. Nintendo also cautions that a Switch may need more or less free space than the listed amount.
Because the official listings do not establish a single installed-size measurement for every platform, update state, and DLC configuration, there is no reliable universal “all content installed” figure to add to these requirements.

What to do if your Switch is short on space
Nintendo says: “If there is not enough free space available, you can delete unnecessary software or insert a microSD card with enough space.” A microSD card is optional if the console already has sufficient free storage; Nintendo’s listing does not specify a capacity or recommend a particular model.
