Relationship levels are five separate companion tracks that Verso can advance by spending time with the other expedition members at camp. The system begins in Act 2: talk to each character, accept any available invitation, and complete the scene. New scenes unlock as the story progresses, so if nobody has one ready, continue the main story and check camp again later.
When relationship levels unlock
You do not need to manage relationships during the opening stretch. The system becomes available in Act 2, after Verso joins; Gamer Guides places the first opportunity after the Forgotten Battlefield. Once the relevant camp sequence is available, speak with Maelle, Lune, Sciel, Monoco, and Esquie.

Each companion has an independent relationship track, and each track goes up to level 7. When a character offers to spend time with Verso, accept and finish the scene to raise that character’s rank. These scenes do not impose a one-character-per-night time limit, according to Push Square’s relationship guide.
How to keep each track progressing
- Check in at camp after story progress. Return after major dungeons and significant plot beats.
- Talk to all five companions. Scene availability differs by character; do not assume that one person’s lack of a scene means nobody has one.
- Complete every offered scene. Some later ranks require more than conversation, including character quests or battles.
- If nothing is available, advance the main story. Relationship scenes are story-gated, so repeatedly resting or revisiting camp without progressing the plot will not necessarily unlock the next one.
Some late progression has additional requirements. Gamer Guides notes that Monoco requests a duel and that several companions need combat-related progression to move from level 5 to level 6. Treat a rank prompt as the start of a step, not a guarantee that the next level will come from dialogue alone.

What relationship levels reward
Rewards differ by companion and rank. They can include Gradient attacks, records, cosmetics, character quests, and exploration abilities. Guide reward tables do not describe a single universal reward at each level, so check the individual character’s progression rather than relying on a rule such as “every level 6 gives a record.”
- Gradient attacks: Playnews lists examples including Maelle’s Virtuoso Strike and Phoenix Flames, Lune’s Earth Awakening and Tree of Life, and attacks for Esquie. These are character-specific rewards; the exact rank varies.
- Records and cosmetics: Some later ranks award records or outfits. Examples in the guides include a record for Lune after the Sirene’s Dress quest, and records and swimsuits for Sciel.
- Quests and battles: Higher ranks can lead into companion-specific content. Lune’s Sirene’s Dress, Maelle’s Reacher, and Monoco’s Sacred River are among the Act 3 quest locations listed by Gamer Guides.
- Exploration: Esquie’s relationship progression unlocks underwater diving, opening submerged areas and items. Gamer Guides ties the ability to the Francois encounter.
- Character trophies: Playnews reports that maxing relationships is tied to character trophies.

After Act 3 begins, return to camp and finish available conversations before traveling to a companion’s personal quest location. Prepare Maelle before starting her Reacher section: Gamer Guides notes that her dungeon includes a solo boss. Other cited quest examples include Lune’s Sirene’s Dress, Monoco’s Sacred River, and Esquie’s Francois encounter.
Maelle’s level 7 choice
Playnews reports that Maelle’s final Act 3 conversation requires choosing “Truth” to reach level 7 and receive its associated reward and trophy. The guide says the alternative leaves her at level 6 for that playthrough. This is consequential guidance from a secondary game guide, not a developer statement; if you are following it for completion, make a save before the conversation.

Optional Sciel and Lune romance path
Playnews reports that the romance branch is optional and limited to choosing between Sciel and Lune: accepting Sciel’s advances closes the Lune route, while declining Sciel allows Lune’s route to continue after her Act 3 quest. The guide says this choice does not affect gameplay rewards, trophies, or endings.
