But the available evidence does not establish that the developers intentionally designed it to avoid transactional romance. That distinction matters: the mechanics can be described, while the claimed design motive remains unconfirmed.
Does Nivalis Nights intentionally avoid transactional romances?
That intention has not been verified. The available account of the game’s romance mechanics is a secondary guide based on a player’s experience; it does not include a developer statement explaining why the system was designed this way. It would therefore be inaccurate to present “avoiding transactional romances” as a confirmed goal of ION LANDS.

It reports that a date becomes available only after relationship progress and the relevant personal storyline have advanced. In the author’s examples, helping Garnet’s daughter Mila was part of advancing his route, while Deeala’s storyline involved a quest concerning her landlord.
This is a player guide’s account of how routes worked in its playthrough, not a complete official walkthrough or a guarantee that every character follows identical requirements. It nonetheless describes progression involving more than repeated flirtation: the player must also engage with the character’s circumstances and story.

How many romanceable characters are there?
Alex March’s guide says there are “over twenty” romanceable characters and separately reports encountering 21 characters in LUZ whose heart indicators increased after flirtatious dialogue. These are the guide author’s observations, not an official character count from the developers. Treat the number as a playthrough-based report rather than a definitive roster.
Does the game offer follow-up dates or marriage?
The guide reports that, after first dates, it found no second dates, marriage, or long-term commitment system. That describes what the author encountered at the time of the guide, not a confirmed permanent limit; game updates could change the available relationship content.
