The Astro A50 X base station connects an Xbox Series X|S and a PlayStation 5 over HDMI 2.1, and a PC or Mac over USB-C. It routes console video onward to a display, sends the selected system’s audio wirelessly to the headset, and lets you switch between connected systems with PLAYSYNC. Logitech lists support for passthrough up to 4K at 120 Hz, but the complete console-to-display setup must support the mode you want.
What the A50 X base station does
Think of the base station as a connection hub for up to three gaming systems, rather than just a wireless headset transmitter. Xbox and PS5 connect through its HDMI 2.1 path; PC or Mac connects over USB-C. The station sends the selected system’s audio to the headset over Logitech’s LIGHTSPEED wireless connection. Does the A50 X pass through 4K at 120 Hz?
Logitech lists three HDMI 2.1 ports, 40 Gbps bandwidth, ALLM, VRR, and passthrough up to 4K at 120 Hz. These are maximum manufacturer specifications, not a guarantee that every game or setup will output that resolution and refresh rate. Choose cables for the full video path
Logitech says HDMI cables are required for the full experience and recommends HDMI 2.1-certified cables for optimal video passthrough; its page says cables are sold separately. Use appropriate certified cables for both the console-to-base-station and base-station-to-display links, and check that their lengths suit your setup. A cable’s presence alone does not ensure 4K/120 Hz if another device or setting in the chain is the limiting factor. (Logitech G product specifications)

Audio features depend on the connected system; Logitech does not describe every format as applying to every platform.
- Xbox: Dolby Atmos spatial audio and Game/Chat mixing.
- PS5: PS5 3D Audio and Game/Chat mixing.
- PC or Mac: Dolby Atmos or Windows Sonic, Game/Chat mixing, and G HUB customization. Logitech lists PC USB audio up to 24-bit/48 kHz.

What to check if the setup does not deliver the expected video mode
- Confirm the console is connected to the base station by HDMI and the station’s HDMI output goes to the display.
- Check that the display and console support the resolution and refresh rate you are trying to use.
- Use HDMI 2.1-certified cables for optimal passthrough, as Logitech recommends, and verify that both HDMI links use suitable cables.
- Review console and display settings for the desired output, including features such as VRR or ALLM where supported.
The A50 X specifications establish the station’s stated capabilities; they do not establish a guaranteed result for every combination of console, display, settings, and cable.
