Afterward, you can absorb Spirit remnants—and retrieve eligible Spirits you missed at a Keeper’s Shrine.
Unlock the Blessed Gourd in Chapter 1

Progress through Chapter 1 until you reach the Bamboo Grove and find the Snake Trail Keeper’s Shrine.

Climb the steps from the shrine and speak with the Old Wise Man, identified by the Wukong Wiki as Yuan Shoucheng. This encounter grants the Blessed Gourd ability needed to absorb Spirits.

Recover a Spirit you missed before the unlock
If you defeated an enemy that left a Spirit before acquiring the Blessed Gourd, the message “Cannot Absorb Spirits Without Guidance” means the ability is still locked. You do not need to return to that enemy’s battlefield: after unlocking the ability, visit a Keeper’s Shrine and choose its Spirit retrieval option to claim eligible missed Spirits. Equip and use a Spirit
Once you have a Spirit, select it from the Equipment menu. An equipped Spirit provides a passive effect, while its Spirit Skill lets you transform and perform that Spirit’s signature attack. The skill can be activated when your Qi meter is full; Qi builds by hitting enemies or resting at a Keeper’s Shrine. You can also cultivate Spirits at shrines to enhance them. What to know about Spirit remnants

Not every enemy or boss leaves a Spirit; they are collectibles associated with certain enemies.

If an early remnant cannot be absorbed, unlock the Blessed Gourd first instead of repeatedly interacting with it.
