On PS5, add someone from Game Base > Friends > Search for players, then open their profile and choose Add Friend. To remove a friend, open their profile and choose … (More) > Remove from Friends. Removing someone does not block them.
How do I add someone on PS5?
- Press the PS button to open the Control Center, then select Game Base.
- Open the Friends tab and select Search for players. You can also reach player search from the PS5 home screen.
- Enter the person’s real name or online ID. Search may also show people you recently played with and friends of friends.
- Select the intended player to open their profile, then select Add Friend.
- If you want to share real names and profile pictures with each other, use the Become Close Friends option when it appears. Child accounts cannot send or receive Close Friends requests, according to PlayStation Support.
Where do I find friend requests on PS5?
Press the PS button, open Game Base, select Friends, then View All Friends and the Friend Requests tab. Choose Accept or Decline on an incoming request. To cancel a request you sent, find it in this tab and cancel it. Select Multiple lets you apply an action to several requests at once. Accepting a Close Friend request shares real names and profile pictures with each other.
How do I remove a friend from my PS5?
Open the person’s profile and select … (More) > Remove from Friends. This removes the friend connection; it is not the same as blocking the player.
Does removing a friend block them?
No. Removing a friend only removes the friend connection. If you also want to restrict contact, open the player’s profile through Game Base and choose … (More) > Block. PlayStation says blocking prevents both players from viewing each other’s profile, activity, or personal information, adding each other to parties, or watching each other’s Share Screen. In specified shared-party situations, blocked players will not see each other’s messages or hear each other’s voice. See PlayStation’s block and unblock guidance for details.

To unblock someone on PS5, open Game Base settings, select Blocked Players, then choose Unblock beside that player. Unblocking does not restore the friend connection; send a new friend request if you want to add them again.
Why can’t I find someone by their PSN ID?
PlayStation refers to the identifier as an online ID. Search results may vary according to the other player’s privacy settings, and your own privacy settings determine who can send you friend requests. If the person does not appear or you cannot send a request, check the relevant privacy settings. They are one possible cause, not an exhaustive explanation for every search or request problem.

Can I manage friends in the PlayStation App?
Yes. The app supports adding and removing friends, managing requests, and blocking. Use it if you are already signed in there; use Game Base for the console-based route.
- Add: From the home screen, select Friends > Add Friend, search for the player, open their profile, select Add, and send the request. The app may offer an option to share your real name and picture.
- Requests: Select Friends > Requests to accept or decline. To cancel a sent request, open the player’s profile and select Sent > Cancel Friend Request.
- Remove: Open the player’s profile and select Friends > Remove as Friend.
- Block: Tap the friends icon at the top right, choose or search for the player, open their profile, then select … (More) > Block.
