Set the preset capacity high enough for every traffic car in the entry list, then launch it through Content Manager or a packed AssettoServer folder. If a freeroam server hangs on “Initialising AI spline,” rename the local layout’s ai folder to ai_off.

This guide uses SRP 0.9.3, which the project currently labels as its stable release. SRP 0.9.4 is a separate public test build (PTB), requires CSP 0.2.11 or newer, and uses different folders and spline instructions.

What you need before installing traffic
Traffic is not added by dropping random AI files into an SRP folder. The documented multiplayer workflow depends on four pieces working together:
- Assetto Corsa for PC with the SRP track installed in the game’s content structure.
- Full Content Manager, because the server-preset and entry-list workflow described by the guide is not the same as the limited version.
- AssettoServer for a dedicated or freeroam traffic server. The current documentation identifies version 0.0.54.
- An SRP-made AI spline, supplied as a
fast_lane.aiorfast_lane.aipfile through the pinned#ai-spline-releasesmaterial in the AssettoServer Discord.
The spline must match the SRP release and layout you are running. A spline made for another map, another layout, or another SRP build can leave the session stuck while the game tries to initialise AI.

Choose the SRP release first
Do not combine stable and PTB files casually. The project’s official site currently labels SRP 0.9.3 as the stable release and says stable is required by most servers. Support for 0.9.1 has ended. The site also lists SRP 0.9.4 PTB as a separate test release.
| Release | How it is positioned | Compatibility detail | Traffic-file guidance |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0.9.3 | Current stable SRP release | Use the stable track folder and the spline intended for that release | Follow the pinned SRP/AssettoServer release post for the matching fast_lane.ai(p) |
| 0.9.1 | Older release with support ended | Do not use it as the base for a new installation | Old traffic files may not match current layouts |
| 0.9.4 PTB | Public test build | Requires CSP 0.2.11 or newer; Patreon CSP previews also work | Its AI splines are published through the AssettoServer Discord and instructions can change |
If your friends or the server owner specify a build, install exactly that build. If nobody specifies one, use stable 0.9.3 rather than the PTB. The 0.9.4 PTB has a unique track folder, so copying a 0.9.3 spline or folder into it is not a safe upgrade method.

Install the stable SRP track
- Download the current stable release from the official Shutoko Revival Project site. At the time of writing, that is 0.9.3.
- Extract the archive into your Assetto Corsa installation so its track content is merged into the game’s existing
contentstructure. - Open Content Manager and verify that the SRP layouts appear in the track list. If the layout is missing, the archive was probably extracted one directory too deep; look for an extra nested folder and move the actual track folder into the game’s track location.
- Keep the stable release separate from any PTB installation. Do not overwrite a stable folder with a PTB folder merely to make names match.
The goal at this stage is a working SRP track before traffic is introduced. Test the track in a normal solo session first. If the track itself does not load, an AI spline will not fix the installation.
Install AssettoServer and obtain the correct AI spline
AssettoServer handles the server-side traffic workflow, while Content Manager creates and edits the preset. Install the AssettoServer release and keep its files in a dedicated server directory rather than mixing them into the main game installation.
Find the spline without relying on an old filename
The traffic guide points to pinned releases in the AssettoServer Discord’s #ai-spline-releases material instead of promising one permanent attachment name. Open the current pinned release, identify the spline explicitly marked for your SRP build and layout, and download the supplied fast_lane.ai or fast_lane.aip. The parenthetical “p” is part of the documented naming convention; use the filename supplied for your release rather than renaming an unrelated file.

- Sprint, Endurance, and Spa 24 Hours races come to life with an incredible level of realism, in both single and multiplayer modes
For SRP 0.9.4 PTB, use the PTB spline announcement specifically. PTB instructions and attachment locations can change as the test build changes, so a file that worked with stable 0.9.3 is not automatically valid for 0.9.4.
Why the spline matters
The spline is the route AI cars follow. It is not a generic traffic toggle and it is not interchangeable with a single-player racing line. An SRP-specific spline contains the path and traffic behavior expected by that map layout. A mismatch can produce cars that never spawn, drive incorrectly, or a server that remains at “Initialising AI spline.”
Create the traffic preset in Content Manager
Use the Server tab in full Content Manager to build the entry list and capacity. The exact controls can move slightly between Content Manager versions, but the required values are the same.
- Open Content Manager and go to its Server tab.
- Create a new preset or open the preset you intend to run.
- In the track/layout selector, choose Shutoko Revival Project – Main Layout. Do not substitute a different SRP layout unless the spline release explicitly supports it.
- Add the traffic cars to the entry list. The guide’s example uses one RUF CTR Yellowbird, five Audi S1 cars, and five Toyota GT-86 cars.
- Raise Capacity so it covers every entry in the list, including the player slots you intend to reserve. A capacity lower than the entry list prevents the intended field from loading.
- Check the layout’s pit limit before adding more cars. Exceeding the layout’s pit limit can crash clients, so do not treat Capacity as an unlimited traffic slider.
- Save the preset. Confirm that the selected track, layout, car entries and capacity remain after closing and reopening the preset.
Capacity is a server allocation value, not a promise that every car will be visible at every moment. More entries increase the load on the server and clients. Start with the documented example, confirm that it works, then add cars in small increments while staying within the layout’s pit limit.
Run the preset in Content Manager or AssettoServer
Content Manager hosting
For a quick test, run the saved preset directly from Content Manager. This is useful for confirming that the track, cars, spline and capacity agree before setting up a persistent server. Join with a second client if possible; a solo launch can hide entry-list and synchronization problems.

Dedicated AssettoServer folder
- Save the Content Manager preset after checking the track, layout, entry list and capacity.
- If you are using a dedicated folder on Windows, use Content Manager’s packing option to pack the preset for Windows.
- Extract the AssettoServer release into the server directory.
- Extract the packed preset into that directory as instructed by the preset package.
- Launch
AssettoServer.exe, or run the packed preset through Content Manager if that is your chosen workflow. - Watch the server console for track-loading, entry-list and spline errors before asking drivers to connect.
Keep the server’s track build, car list and spline synchronized. If you update SRP on the host but not on clients, connection failures and checksum mismatches are expected rather than evidence of a bad AI file.
Fix “Initialising AI spline” on a freeroam server
On a freeroam server, the most common documented cause is that the game is loading the local single-player AI spline from the installed track. Freeroam does not need that local single-player spline, and the conflict can leave the loading screen stuck at Initialising AI spline.
- Stop Assetto Corsa and the server.
- Open the local folder for the SRP layout that is producing the problem.
- Find that layout’s directory named
ai. - Rename it to
ai_off. Do not delete it; renaming makes the change reversible. - Start the freeroam server again and test the regular layout.
This workaround has two deliberate trade-offs. Single-player AI on that local layout will not work while the folder is named ai_off, and some track-cut penalties that depend on the local AI data are disabled. When you want ordinary single-player AI or those penalties again, stop the game and rename ai_off back to ai ext{}.

Enforce a minimum CSP version on a hosted server
Server owners who need a minimum Custom Shaders Patch version can use the documented track-path method. This is separate from simply installing CSP on the host: the path and surface name tell clients which CSP-specific track variant to load.

TRACK=csp/<CSPversionID>/../<trackname>, replacing the angle-bracket values with the version directory and track folder used by your installation. - Open the track’s
surfaces.ini. - Change only the first surface section name from
SURFACE_0toCSPFACE_0. - Leave every additional surface section unchanged.
- Restart the server and test with a client running the required CSP version.
Changing more than the first surface section can cause client checksum errors. The instruction is intentionally narrow: change only SURFACE_0, not every surface label in the file.
PTB CSP requirement
SRP 0.9.4 PTB requires CSP 0.2.11 or newer; Patreon CSP previews are also supported according to the PTB information. That minimum applies to the PTB release, not automatically to stable 0.9.3. Verify the build-specific notes before enforcing a version on a mixed server.

Troubleshoot traffic that does not load
The SRP track is missing from Content Manager
- Confirm that you installed the stable track archive into the Assetto Corsa content structure rather than leaving it in a download folder.
- Look for an extra nested directory caused by extracting the archive into a folder with the same name.
- Check whether the preset expects 0.9.3 while your installation contains a PTB folder, or the reverse.
The server loads but no traffic appears
- Verify that the entry list contains traffic cars and that Capacity is at least as high as the number of entries.
- Confirm that the selected layout is Shutoko Revival Project – Main Layout.
- Replace the spline with the SRP-specific
fast_lane.ai(p)from the current pinned release. - Check that the cars referenced by the preset are installed on both the server and clients.
Clients crash or disconnect when joining
- Reduce the entry list if it exceeds the layout’s pit limit.
- Make sure clients have the same SRP release and car files as the server.
- If you changed
surfaces.ini, undo every edit except the documented first-section rename fromSURFACE_0toCSPFACE_0. - Check that everyone meets the server’s CSP requirement, especially for SRP 0.9.4 PTB.
An old Discord attachment no longer works
Traffic-file names and Discord attachments can change. Return to the current pinned SRP/AssettoServer release information and select the file that names your exact SRP build and layout. Avoid downloading a spline from an undated repost when the release channel provides a newer one.
Recommended first setup
For the least complicated installation, use stable SRP 0.9.3, full Content Manager, AssettoServer, and the matching spline from the current pinned release. Select Shutoko Revival Project – Main Layout, begin with one RUF CTR Yellowbird, five Audi S1 cars and five Toyota GT-86 cars, and set Capacity to cover the complete entry list without exceeding the layout’s pit limit. Run the preset in Content Manager first; once it loads reliably, pack it for a dedicated AssettoServer folder if you need persistent hosting.
Only after that baseline works should you test PTB 0.9.4 or enforce a CSP minimum. Keep each build’s folder and spline separate, and use the ai-to-ai_off workaround only for the freeroam case that is actually showing the AI-spline initialisation hang.
