To add an ARK: Survival Evolved server to Steam Favorites, open Steam → View → Servers (called Game Servers in some versions), select Favorites, choose Add a Server, enter the server’s PUBLIC_IP:QUERY_PORT, and run Find Games at This Address. Add the returned ARK server, then launch ARK and set the Join ARK filter to Favorites.

What you need before adding the server
The Steam Favorites workflow depends on two pieces of information supplied by the server owner or hosting control panel:

- The reachable address. Remote players normally need the host’s public IPv4 address. A player on the same home network may need a local/LAN address instead, depending on how that network is configured.
- The query port. This is the port Steam uses to ask the server for its name, player count and other browser information. It is not automatically the same as the gameplay port.
Write the address in this format, with no spaces:
PUBLIC_IP:QUERY_PORT
For example, 203.0.113.25:27015 uses the documentation-only address range 203.0.113.0/24. Do not use that example to connect; replace it with your server’s real reachable address.
If the owner gives you only one port, ask whether it is the query port before entering it. ARK server configurations commonly separate game, peer, query and RCON ports, so a control panel’s “server port” label is not enough to identify the value Steam needs.

How to add your ARK server to Steam Favorites
- Open Steam’s server browser. In the Steam desktop client, select View in the top menu, then choose Servers. Some client versions label this menu item Game Servers.
- Open the Favorites tab. The server browser has tabs for different server lists. Select Favorites, even if the list is currently empty.
- Open the add-server dialog. Click Add a Server. Depending on the Steam build, this may appear as an Add button or a plus (+) control.
- Enter the address. Type the public or LAN address, a colon, and the configured query port:
IP:QUERYPORT. Do not add a second colon, protocol prefix such ashttp://, or a space. - Query the address. Click Find Games at This Address. Steam contacts the query service and displays any server that answers at that address.
- Select the returned ARK server. Check the result’s name and details so you do not save a different service using the same address.
- Save it. Choose Add Selected Game Server to Favorites. Other Steam versions use wording such as Add this address to favorites.
- Verify the in-game list. Start ARK: Survival Evolved, open Join ARK, and change the server filter to Favorites. The server added through Steam should appear there when it is online and discoverable.
The ARK Official Community Wiki describes this method as entering the server’s IP:QUERYPORT details directly into Steam’s favorites. A Steam Community guide likewise notes that saving the address places it in both Steam’s server list and ARK’s in-game Favorites list.
Which port should you use: 7777 or 27015?
Use the query port in Steam’s Add a Server field. Do not choose a number merely because it is a familiar ARK default.

A frequently seen arrangement uses game port 7777 and query port 27015, but these are examples, not universal requirements. The values configured on your server are authoritative. If your host changed the query port, use the changed value even when the game port remains 7777.
Steam discovery also has a port-number detail that can explain confusing instructions: the ARK setup reference notes that when a query port is above 27019/27020, it must be supplied explicitly for Steam browser discovery. In practice, always request the exact configured query port rather than relying on Steam to infer one.

Where is the Favorites tab in ARK?
There are two related Favorites locations:
- Steam’s browser: View → Servers/Game Servers → Favorites. This is where you enter an IP and query port and save the result.
- ARK’s browser: From the game’s main menu, open Join ARK, then use the server-filter control and select Favorites. This is where you launch the saved server in-game.
If ARK opens on another filter, such as Official, Unofficial PC Sessions or a general Internet list, the saved server may be present but hidden by that filter. Select Favorites explicitly after each launch until you confirm the entry is available.
Why doesn’t my ARK server show up in Steam Favorites?
If Find Games at This Address returns no result, work through these checks in order. Each one eliminates a different failure point.
1. Confirm that the server process is running
Ask the owner or check the hosting panel for an online/running status. A stopped, crashed or still-starting process cannot answer a Steam query. Wait until startup has completed, then run the address search again.
2. Check the address you entered
Remote players generally need the host’s public IP, not the host computer’s private address such as 192.168.x.x or 10.x.x.x. A LAN player may need the private address, depending on the router and local network. Compare every digit and make sure the address has no spaces or extra punctuation.

3. Recheck the query port
The most common entry error is using the gameplay port, often 7777, where Steam expects the query port, often 27015 in example configurations. Confirm the field labeled Query Port in the server configuration. If the query port is nonstandard or above 27019/27020, include that explicit value after the colon.
4. Verify firewall permissions
The server machine’s operating-system firewall and any upstream security appliance must allow the configured ARK traffic. A blocked query request produces the same “not found” symptom as a wrong port, so test from the player’s network rather than assuming a local server check proves remote access.

5. Check router port forwarding
For a self-hosted server behind a router, forward the configured ports to the server computer’s local address. The ARK setup guidance specifies forwarding both UDP and TCP local ports for the server to appear in lists. Apply the rule to the actual game and query values configured on the server; forwarding only a default port does not help when the server uses a custom one.
6. Query from Steam even when ARK’s list is incomplete
In-game server lists can be slow or filtered. Steam’s server browser lets you test the address directly. If Steam finds and saves the server but ARK does not display it, return to Join ARK, choose Favorites, and check that no additional search or mode filters are hiding the entry.

7. Allow for address changes
A residential internet connection may receive a new public IP after a router restart or provider change. If the server was reachable yesterday but the same favorite now fails, obtain the current public address from the owner and add the new IP:QUERY_PORT combination.

The Steam Web API can show whether Steam’s master-server data contains an address. Replace <IP> with the server’s public IP in this URL:
https://api.steampowered.com/ISteamApps/GetServersAtAddress/v0001?addr=<IP>
A successful response includes the server address, app ID 346110 (ARK: Survival Evolved), game port and related fields. This is a diagnostic check, not a substitute for opening the correct ports. An empty or unsuccessful response still requires checking the running process, public address, query port, firewall and router forwarding.

Steam Favorites, ARK search and direct connection compared

For a Steam player who already has the server address, Favorites is generally the clearest first method because it records the endpoint and exposes query failures separately from ARK’s in-game filters.
Steam and Epic versions are different
The workflow above is documented for the Steam edition. Do not assume that an Epic Games Store installation exposes the same Steam server-browser integration. Support documentation updated June 10, 2026, states that the Epic Games Store version does not currently provide the same direct IP/port join method and instead describes using ARK’s in-game console. Client behavior can change, so Epic players should verify the current method for their specific ARK edition rather than following Steam menu names that may not exist.
Cross-platform server visibility can also depend on the server’s configured crossplay options and the client versions involved. If a Steam favorite works for one player but not an Epic player, treat that as a platform-support or server-configuration question, not proof that the IP and query port are wrong.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Entering only the IP: Steam needs the port when the query service is not inferred correctly. Use
IP:QUERY_PORT. - Using 7777 automatically: 7777 is a common game-port example, not a guaranteed query port.
- Using the RCON port: RCON is for administration and is not the Steam browser endpoint.
- Testing a private address from outside the LAN: A local address normally is not reachable from the public internet.
- Saving without selecting the result: Entering an address is only a query. Select the returned ARK server and choose the add-to-favorites command.
- Looking under the wrong ARK filter: The saved entry appears under Favorites, not necessarily under an Official or general Internet filter.
- Assuming an empty list proves the server is offline: Wrong ports, blocked UDP/TCP traffic and stale public IPs produce the same visible symptom.
A repeatable checklist
- Get the server’s current reachable IP or LAN address.
- Get the configured query port, separately from game, peer and RCON ports.
- Open Steam → View → Servers/Game Servers → Favorites.
- Choose Add a Server or the add/plus control.
- Enter
IP:QUERY_PORT. - Run Find Games at This Address.
- Select the returned ARK server and add it to Favorites.
- Launch ARK, open Join ARK, and select the Favorites filter.
- If no result appears, verify server status, address, query port, firewall and UDP/TCP forwarding.
The key distinction is simple: Steam Favorites stores a server discovered through its query endpoint, while ARK’s Favorites filter is where you select that saved entry to join. Supplying the correct public address and query port connects those two steps.
