First check the exact notice: an account penalty and a Vanguard device restriction are different issues. In your ticket, give accurate account details, quote or attach the notice, explain why you believe the action is mistaken, and include relevant records or Riot Repair Tool logs. An appeal asks Riot to review the case; it does not guarantee a reversal.
First identify what the notice actually says
“Hardware ban” is often used loosely. Riot’s Vanguard Restrictions guidance describes a device restriction that can appear when a PC seems to enable cheating, including because Windows is outdated or certain settings are not configured. A VAN: RESTRICTION message may identify settings Riot says are needed to remove that restriction. That is not the same thing as an account penalty.
- If the notice names an account penalty: describe the penalty and request a case-specific review through Riot Support.
- If it says
VAN: RESTRICTIONand lists settings: follow the instructions for that specific message. Riot notes that BIOS settings vary by computer and motherboard and directs users to manufacturer guidance.
Copy the displayed wording and code accurately in your ticket rather than assuming every block is a hardware ban. The public guidance does not establish hardware replacement or changing unrelated settings as appeal tactics.
Submit an appeal through Riot Support
- Open the VALORANT Player Support portal and choose the ticket submission route (“Submit A Ticket”).
- Complete the account and issue fields shown on the form. Riot’s request form asks for details such as the original registration email, account registration location, Riot ID, login name, platform, and a description of the problem. Provide accurate information; do not guess at account details.
- Explain what happened and request a review. Keep the account penalty or Vanguard restriction clearly identified, and distinguish facts you can confirm from anything you only suspect.
- Attach relevant screenshots or records, and include Riot Repair Tool logs if they are relevant. Riot’s form says logs can help support investigate and directs Windows users to Riot Repair Tool for collecting them.
- Submit the ticket as the original account owner and keep a copy of the notice and information you sent.
What evidence to include
There is no publicly stated universal evidence checklist for overturning a hardware-related enforcement action. Send material that directly documents your specific issue, not a large collection of unrelated files.

- Account identifiers: the Riot ID and other account details requested by the form, including the region or registration information if requested.
- The exact notice: copy its full wording and code, or attach an uncropped screenshot that makes the message readable.
- Timing and context: say when the block began, include your time zone, and identify the relevant game, platform, and PC context.
- A concise timeline: describe events leading up to the notice and why you think the restriction or penalty may be mistaken. Label uncertainty as uncertainty.
- Relevant supporting records: attach notices, screenshots, or other documentation that bears directly on your explanation. Riot’s form accepts attachments.
- Riot Repair Tool logs: include them when relevant; Riot says game logs can help support.
Do not fabricate or alter evidence, or send unrelated personal information. The form asks for account identifiers, not your password; do not include your password in the ticket.
Who should file the ticket
Riot says it can help only the original account owner for security and privacy reasons. The owner should contact support through their account or registered email. A friend or family member should not pose as the owner or submit the appeal on their behalf.

What to expect after you appeal
Riot’s support request form says, “Legitimate penalties will not be removed or adjusted.” A clear, well-documented ticket can ask Riot to review a suspected mistake, but neither the suggested evidence nor filing a ticket guarantees that a penalty will be reversed. Riot’s public materials do not state a guaranteed response time, an appeal deadline, or a complete evidentiary standard for overturning a hardware-related action.
