Assemble the wheelbase, piston, seat mechanism and backrest in that order, then set height, tilt, recline, lumbar support, armrests and the head pillow to your body and desk. The current Secretlab FAQ says the chair includes an assembly guide and video; the official manual is versioned 2024-09-12.
Use the video before you begin. Secretlab says it contains vital safety information and tips that make assembly smoother. Keep the magnetic pillow and armrest components away from medical devices, children and pets, and stop rather than forcing any control or screw that does not align.

What to prepare before opening the box
Clear a clean floor area large enough to support the seatbase and an upright backrest. A second person is useful when the backrest is being aligned, although the supplied hardware is intended for normal home assembly. Keep the packaging nearby until the final function check in case the chair has to be transported.

Identify the supplied tools
| Tool or hardware | Use during assembly |
|---|---|
| Long Allen key | Installing and tightening the M8 structural screws |
| M8 screws | Fastening the tilt mechanism to the seatbase and the backrest to the mechanism |
| Magnetic screwdriver handle | Holding and driving the supplied bit and other screwdriver work |
| Reversible Phillips/hex bit | Switching between Phillips and hex fasteners as required |
Do not substitute a short, worn or incorrectly sized bit. Start every screw by hand for several turns so the threads engage cleanly. Cross-threading can damage the chair and make a later adjustment impossible.
Handle magnets and medical devices safely
The CloudSwap armrest tops and head pillow use magnets. Secretlab advises consulting a doctor or the device manufacturer if you or someone nearby has an implanted or wearable medical device. Keep the magnetic pillow and armrests at least 30 cm (12 inches) from a medical device. Small magnets are a choking hazard, so keep loose tops, covers and hardware away from children and pets.
Secretlab TITAN Evo assembly, in the official order
The sequence below keeps the heavy parts supported and leaves the red shipping safety screw in place until the backrest is secure. Tighten screws evenly rather than fully tightening one side while the other side is loose.
1. Press the casters into the wheelbase
Turn the five-star wheelbase upside down on the clean floor. Align each caster stem with a socket and press firmly until it is fully seated. Check that every caster rotates freely and that no stem is only partly inserted. A partially seated caster can make the finished chair unstable or cause a wheel to drag.
2. Install the Class 4 piston and sleeve
Insert the narrow end of the Class 4 hydraulic piston into the central opening of the wheelbase. Slide the hydraulic sleeve over the exposed piston as shown in the guide. The taper and gravity seat the parts; do not hammer the piston or add lubricant. Keep the base upright and supported so the piston does not fall out while you work.
3. Attach the tilt mechanism to the seatbase
Place the seatbase upside down with enough support underneath that its upholstery and controls are not crushed. Position the multi-functional tilt mechanism so its front, rear and lever sides match the seatbase. Use the supplied M8 screws in the specified holes. Start all screws loosely, confirm the mechanism is centered, then tighten them in an alternating pattern with the long Allen key. Supporting the seatbase while tightening prevents the mechanism from shifting and helps the threads line up.
4. Secure the backrest
Bring the backrest upright and support its weight. Align the left and right backrest brackets with the mounting points on the seatbase mechanism. Install the backrest screws evenly: begin each screw several turns, then alternate sides while tightening. Do not remove the red recline safety screw yet; it keeps the recline assembly restrained while the backrest is being mounted. Before moving on, verify that both brackets are fully captured and that the backrest is not twisted relative to the seat.

5. Fit the magnetic side covers
With the backrest secured, place the magnetic side covers over the exposed hinge and screw areas. They should sit flush and attach without force. A cover that will not seat usually means a screw head is proud, a bracket is misaligned or the cover is on the wrong side. Correct the underlying issue rather than pressing harder.
6. Remove the red safety screw
Only after the backrest and side covers are secure, remove the red safety screw from the recline mechanism. Keep it with the packaging or manual for future transport if the instructions call for reinstalling it. Operating the recline lever while this shipping restraint is still installed can prevent movement; removing it before the backrest is supported can allow an unsafe shift.

7. Install the height and tilt-lock lever handles
Fit the supplied handles to their corresponding control shafts. Confirm that the height lever and tilt-lock lever are on the correct sides and that each handle is fully engaged. Move each lever through its normal range without applying excessive force. If a lever feels blocked, stop and inspect the mechanism and screw alignment.
8. Press on the CloudSwap armrest tops
Align each magnetic armrest top with its mount and press down until it is seated. Check the perimeter of each top by hand; it should not rock, lift at one corner or slide off when the armrest is moved. The magnetic connection is designed for replacement, so no screw or adhesive is required for the top itself.
9. Stand the chair up and perform a function check
With the chair upright, roll it a short distance on a clear floor. Confirm that all casters contact the floor, the base is stable and the seat does not wobble. Test the height lever, tilt-lock lever, tilt tension, recline lever and both armrests. Check that the backrest reclines and returns smoothly, then sit carefully and repeat the checks with your weight on the seat. Do not use the chair until every structural screw is tight and every control operates normally.
Set the main posture controls before fine adjustments
Adjust the chair in this order: height, tilt lock, tilt tension and backrest recline. Once the seat and backrest support your working posture, fine-tune lumbar support, armrests and the head pillow. Changing seat height or recline later can change how the other supports feel.
Chair height
Use the height lever while seated when you want to lower the chair, or while unweighted when you want to raise it, depending on the movement you need. Release the lever at the desired height. Set the seat so your feet rest flat, your knees are approximately level with your hips and your desk surface does not force your shoulders upward. The correct setting depends on your desk and body dimensions, not on a fixed number printed on the chair.
Tilt lock
Use the tilt-lock lever to lock or release the multi-tilt range. A locked position keeps the seat and backrest at a fixed working angle; an unlocked position lets the chair tilt within its designed range. Test both states with your feet on the floor so you can tell whether the mechanism is holding or moving as intended.
Tilt tension
Turn the underside tension knob until the resistance matches your body weight and preferred posture. If the chair snaps upright when you lean back, reduce the resistance gradually. If it reclines too easily or does not support you, increase it in small increments. Make changes while seated and supported, and avoid spinning the knob rapidly through its full range.
Backrest recline
Operate the recline lever and set the backrest to a comfortable angle. Keep your pelvis against the rear of the seat while testing so the angle reflects your normal posture rather than a slouched position. The official usage guide demonstrates the lever movement; use that motion instead of pulling on the backrest shell or side cover.
Adjust the L-ADAPT lumbar support
The L-ADAPT system provides two independent directions of adjustment: vertical position and inward/outward curvature or depth. Start near the neutral setting, sit fully back with your lower back supported, and make one small change at a time.
Rank #3
- ALL-DAY COMFORT FOR WORK & PLAY - PC chair made of cold-cure foam for ideal posture, comes with memory foam magnetic head pillow that can be adjusted over a wide range and snaps into place on your backrest while providing enhanced neck support and pressure relief
Find the vertical position
Use the lumbar control on the side of the chair to move the support up or down. Place the strongest part of the support against the natural curve of your lower back, not against the belt line or the middle of the ribs. If the support feels like a hard point below your waist, raise it slightly; if it presses into the mid-back, lower it.
Set curvature and depth
Use the second side control to move the lumbar support inward or outward. Increase inward movement only until the curve fills the gap behind your lower back. If you feel a concentrated pressure point, move it outward rather than compensating by hunching forward. Sit for a few minutes after each small change so your posture settles before making another.
Lumbar comfort is affected by seat height, recline angle, clothing and body shape. Recheck the lumbar position after the height and recline settings are finalized. The chair does not have one universally correct setting; the goal is continuous support without forcing your spine into a new position.
Bring the four-dimensional armrests into position
The TITAN Evo armrests can be adjusted in four directions: height, angle, front/back position and side-to-side position. Adjust them so your forearms are supported while your shoulders remain relaxed and your elbows stay close to your sides.
Use the normal armrest controls
- Height: Raise or lower the top until your forearms reach the keyboard or controller without lifting your shoulders.
- Angle: Rotate the top to follow the direction of your forearm when using a mouse, keyboard or gamepad.
- Front/back: Slide the top so it supports the forearm rather than pressing into the elbow.
- Side-to-side: Move the top toward or away from your torso to match your shoulder width.
Secretlab’s support guidance specifically notes that you can move an armrest closer by pressing the black button on the inner edge and sliding the armrest top inward. Move both sides while seated, then compare the distance from each top to your body instead of relying on the visible position of the underlying metal plate.

Change the whole armrest’s structural width
If the armrest remains too far out even when its top is at the inner limit, change the mounting plate position. Remove the adjustment handle to expose the fasteners. From underneath the armrest, loosen the three M8 screws that hold the metal plate, slide the plate inward or outward, and retighten all three screws evenly. Refit the handle and test every direction of movement.
The right armrest may be mounted slightly farther out to clear the recline mechanism. That asymmetry can be intentional. Judge the final position by how each armrest supports you relative to the seat and desk, not by demanding that the two metal plates occupy identical positions.
Position the magnetic head pillow
Move the magnetic memory-foam pillow up or down until it supports the back of your head without pushing your head forward. Set the backrest recline first, because a pillow that feels correct upright may be too low or too prominent when you lean back. The pillow should contact the head and upper neck gently; it should not force your chin toward your chest.

A screw will not start or tighten
Stop turning the tool. Remove the screw, bring the parts together by hand and check that the left/right component and hole pattern are correct. Start the screw again with the parts supported and the threads square. If one side was tightened first, loosen the surrounding screws slightly, align the bracket, then tighten in alternating steps. Never force a cross-threaded screw with extra leverage.

A side cover or armrest top will not seat
Check that the correct cover is on the correct side, that no screw head protrudes and that the magnetic surfaces are clean. For an armrest top, lift it off and realign it before pressing down evenly. A cover or top that still will not fit after the structural screws are checked may indicate a damaged component.
A lever or recline control does not move
Do not force it. Confirm that the red safety screw was removed only after the backrest was secured, that the side cover is not trapping the mechanism and that all mounting screws are aligned and tightened. Test the control with the chair unweighted, then with light pressure. If it remains blocked, stop using the chair and consult the manual or Secretlab support.
The armrests look uneven
First compare their distance from your torso and the desk while seated. The right armrest can sit farther out to clear the recline mechanism, and the visible metal-plate positions do not have to match. If the functional positions are still wrong, use the black inner-edge button for top movement or the three-M8-screw plate adjustment for structural width.
Parts are missing, damaged or defective
Do not improvise replacement hardware or use the chair as-is. Secretlab directs owners to contact support with photographs and the order number. Keep the packaging and the affected part available so support can identify the required replacement.

Maintenance, replacement parts and compatibility
Use the chair’s replaceable components rather than modifying the frame. CloudSwap armrest tops, the magnetic memory-foam head pillow, replacement casters, footrests, the Lumbar Pillow Pro and the OTTO Adjustable Legrest are model-specific accessories to evaluate after the basic setup is correct. Install only parts identified as compatible with your TITAN Evo size and configuration.
Seat size and configuration
The TITAN Evo is offered in Small, Regular and XL variants. When comparing configurations or accessories, verify body-size compatibility first, then compare adjustment range, replaceability, maintenance requirements and installation complexity. A component that fits one size or edition should not be assumed to fit another without an explicit compatibility statement.
Skins and recliner add-ons
Secretlab states that SKINS are precision-mapped to TITAN Evo models. The Ergonomic Recliner Add-On is designed for TITAN Evo and Classics Series chairs. Those statements establish model compatibility, not a guarantee that every accessory fits every size, fabric or regional edition; check the listing for the exact chair variant before ordering.
Transport and storage
Retain the red safety screw if the manual instructs you to reinstall it for transport. Protect the backrest and keep the magnetic pillow and armrest tops secured separately where children and pets cannot reach them. Before moving the chair, remove loose accessories and avoid lifting by the armrests or recline lever.
