There is no verified way to avoid ankle-monitor detection in GTA VI as of October 19, 2026. Rockstar has not published the tracking rules, map limits, warning system, police response, or mission penalties for Lucia’s monitor. The only confirmed evidence is trailer footage showing Lucia wearing one.
Any guide promising a jammer, safe route, clothing trick, vehicle exploit, or removal method is speculation until Rockstar documents the mechanic or the released game demonstrates it.

What the GTA VI trailer actually confirms
Rockstar’s official Grand Theft Auto VI page confirms that the game is set in Leonida and follows Jason and Lucia through a criminal conspiracy. It lists November 19, 2026, as the release date for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
In a report dated October 15, 2026, TechRadar noted that the launch trailer was captured entirely in-game on a base PlayStation 5 and shows Lucia wearing an ankle monitor. TechRadar interpreted the footage as possibly coming from the early part of the story, when Lucia has not completely escaped the law. That timing is an interpretation of trailer scenes, not a published mission rule.
#1 Best Overall
- This product contains a download code inside the box — no disc is included. Customer shipments will begin arriving November 12 for pre-load; game is playable starting November 19. Code can only be used by users holding an account for PlayStation registered to the US or Canada.
- Pre-order to receive the Vintage Vice City Pack.
- Grand Theft Auto VI is a single-player experience.
The footage establishes a story detail: Lucia wears a monitor at some point shown in the trailer. It does not establish that the device creates a permanent restriction in free roam, triggers police automatically, or can be detected through a particular radius.
Which detection mechanics are unconfirmed?
Rockstar has not published the technical or mission rules needed to answer the usual avoidance questions.

- Please note that although this game is Region Free or Region Unlocked and will work on all systems, this is the European version and may differ from the local version in age rating, labeling or instructions.
| Mechanic | Current status | What that means for players |
|---|---|---|
| Tracking radius | No radius has been published. | There is no reliable distance at which detection can be predicted. |
| Geofence or allowed area | No boundary or permitted zone has been announced. | You cannot identify a confirmed part of the map that Lucia must avoid or remain inside. |
| Warning meter or countdown | No warning interface or timer has been documented. | A HUD indicator should not be assumed to exist. |
| Police dispatch rule | No rule explains whether, when, or how police respond to the monitor. | Police behavior shown in a trailer or mission cannot be generalized to every situation. |
| Parole or probation system | No parole framework has been announced. | The monitor should not be treated as proof of a wider probation system. |
| Monitor-specific mission penalty | No failure condition or penalty has been published. | There is no confirmed “mission over” trigger tied to the device. |
| Removal, disabling, or signal-jamming activity | No such mission or tool has been confirmed. | Jammers, removal jobs, hacking steps, and similar guides are theories. |
Does Lucia’s ankle monitor restrict the map?
That is unknown. The trailer does not show a labeled boundary, an on-screen warning, or a complete sequence demonstrating what happens when Lucia travels away from a permitted area. A monitor could be a temporary story prop, a mission-specific objective, a broader gameplay system, or a detail with no independent detection mechanic. The available footage cannot distinguish among those possibilities.

Do not infer a restriction from Lucia appearing in one location. Trailers are edited selections of scenes and can place story moments out of chronological order. TechRadar’s suggestion that the scenes may be early-story material is useful context, but it is not confirmation that the monitor disappears, remains active, or changes rules later.

Can police detect Lucia because of the monitor?
No published source currently confirms that police receive a special alert because Lucia is wearing it. Ordinary wanted-level behavior, scripted encounters, surveillance systems, and monitor detection would be separate mechanics unless Rockstar explicitly connects them.
If a trailer scene includes police near Lucia, that scene alone cannot show whether the monitor caused the encounter. It might be ordinary story scripting, a conventional wanted state, or an unrelated event. A reliable answer requires either Rockstar’s documentation or repeatable behavior in the released game.

How to test the mechanic when GTA VI launches
Until the game is available, there is no legitimate step-by-step avoidance route. After release, use a controlled test rather than relying on clips or claims that omit mission context.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors- Check the mission briefing and tutorial prompts. Record any explicit terms such as an allowed area, return deadline, warning level, or instruction to keep the device active. Treat only in-game text and repeatable behavior as evidence.
- Separate story missions from free roam. Test the monitor during the specific mission in which it appears, then check whether the same behavior occurs outside that mission. Scripted boundaries often apply only to one objective.
- Watch the HUD for a reproducible indicator. Note the exact icon, message, timer, or audio cue and what action preceded it. A visual effect without a repeatable consequence is not proof of a detection rule.
- Change one variable at a time. Move on foot, then by vehicle; cross a suspected boundary slowly; and repeat from a save. This distinguishes a location trigger from a vehicle, timing, or objective trigger.
- Record police behavior separately. Test whether a response occurs with no wanted level, during an existing pursuit, and after completing the mission objective. Do not attribute every police arrival to the monitor.
- Compare Lucia and Jason only where the game allows it. If character switching is available, note whether the rule follows Lucia, the mission, or the location. A difference between protagonists would need to be observed, not assumed.
- Check updates and official notes. Rockstar could explain or alter a mechanic through launch documentation or a later patch. Date any test result so an older rule is not presented as permanent.
Claims that should be treated as rumors
Community discussions may propose ways to bypass the device, but none of the following is confirmed by Rockstar in the available material:
Best Value
- Join the revolution as Dani Rojas and liberate your nation from Anton Castillo's oppression.
- Dive into a blockbuster experience and immerse yourself in the journey of a guerrilla revolutionary.
- Explore the largest open world in Far Cry history, including the first ever sprawling urban city.
- Discover new animal companions like Chorizo, the adorable wiener dog, to take down enemies.
- Unleash the firepower of specialized makeshift weapons and new backpacks to use against Anton's troops.
- Driving a particular vehicle to block or mask the signal.
- Changing clothes, hiding the ankle, or entering an interior to prevent detection.
- Using a signal jammer, phone hack, weapon, or other item to disable the monitor.
- Following a “safe route” around an unannounced map boundary.
- Forcing a police reset by switching characters, starting another activity, or entering a property.
- Removing the monitor through a guaranteed mission, shop, or contact.
These ideas can become valid only if the game provides the relevant item, mission, prompt, or repeatable result. A video that demonstrates one scene does not establish a universal method, especially if the scene is scripted.
Why a definitive avoidance guide is not available yet
Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for November 19, 2026, so the public evidence currently comes from promotional footage rather than broad player testing. Rockstar has shown the monitor, but it has not published the rules that would make an avoidance guide possible. Without a documented radius, boundary, warning state, escalation rule, or removal objective, assigning exact instructions would mean inventing mechanics.
The most accurate answer for now is therefore limited but clear: Lucia’s monitor is a confirmed story detail in launch-trailer footage, while its detection behavior is not confirmed. Wait for the released mission, explicit in-game instructions, or repeatable testing before treating any bypass as real.
