How to Avoid PvE Griefers and Extract Safely in ARC Raiders

By VGSources Team 10 min read

To avoid PvE griefers in ARC Raiders, treat every extraction as an exposure problem: preserve stamina, keep an escape route, make less noise, and choose the exit that fits your risk rather than the one nearest your loot. A regular extraction point is free but conspicuous. A Raider Hatch costs a key but is faster and quieter. If you are knocked down, you can still extract while downed by crawling to an available terminal, elevator, or hatch.

The temporary PvE toggle makes player-versus-player damage unavailable, but it does not create a completely safe extract. During the October 13–20, 2026 test, ARC can reacquire a downed player after an eight-second grace period, and the reduced-loot rules may change after the test. The safest plan is therefore to leave early, use cover, and keep moving toward an interaction point even when another Raider cannot shoot you.

What the PvE toggle changes—and what it does not

The PvE matchmaking toggle lets players switch between the standard PvPvE experience and temporary PvE servers. In the October 13–20, 2026 beta test, player-to-player damage is set to zero, and stun and fire throwables do not affect other players. Overall loot value is lower than in the normal experience. These are test rules, not a permanent promise; check the current in-game notice after the window ends.

The important qualification is that PvE removes a human damage source, not every threat. ARC enemies can still attack you, and the test rules allow ARC to reacquire a downed player after an eight-second grace period. Use those eight seconds to break line of sight and reach cover or an extraction interaction. Do not treat the grace period as permission to lie still.

Why “griefer” is still a useful concern in PvE

In normal matchmaking, another Raider can deliberately wait near an extraction, make a supposedly friendly approach, or exploit the noise and delay created by your interaction. The official game description warns that both machines and Raiders can prey on others. In PvE matchmaking, the other player cannot damage you under the test rules, but their presence can still complicate movement, draw ARC attention, occupy cover, or pressure you into a bad route. Rules may also change in a later patch.

Prepare a safe extract before you start looting

Extraction safety is mostly decided before the final container opens. Build your route around a fallback exit, not just the highest-value building.

  1. Read the map first. Identify the nearest regular extraction points and any Raider Hatch, Cargo Elevator, Airshaft, or other route you can reach from your intended loot area. Learning these locations before you need them prevents a last-second sprint through exposed ground.
  2. Reserve stamina. Sprinting drains stamina. Standing, walking, and crouching restore it, while sliding does not consume stamina. Walk or crouch while searching and save a full bar for the final crossing, a sudden ARC patrol, or a change of extraction plan.
  3. Protect irreplaceable items. Put the loot you cannot afford to lose in Safe Pocket slots. Eliminated players lose carried equipment except for Safe Pocket contents, so a secure slot is more valuable than one additional ordinary item.
  4. Carry recovery tools. Bring healing and shield items. If a teammate is down, a Defibrillator revives faster than the manual interaction, provided the area is defensible enough to attempt it.
  5. Choose a stopping point. Decide in advance how much time you will spend searching. The developer says available extractions steadily diminish as a session continues; extra loot can turn a quiet exit into a forced, attention-heavy one.

Noise is the signal that brings trouble to you

Container searches, breaching, combat, and extraction controls all take time and generate noise. Noise is not merely an audio effect: it is a clue that can reveal your position to ARC and to other players. A safe extract therefore begins with sound discipline.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Search from cover rather than in the middle of a doorway or open courtyard.
  • Do not start a long breach when you have just heard movement nearby; relocate or wait for a clearer window.
  • After a fight, assume the sound has created a second problem. Move before opening containers or activating an exit.
  • Avoid chaining two loud events, such as a firefight immediately followed by an extraction call, unless remaining in place is more dangerous.
  • Keep one direction open for retreat. A wall behind you and a single doorway ahead can turn a noise event into a trap.

When another Raider appears

Communication can reduce conflict, but it never replaces positioning. Use proximity chat or emotes to signal that you do not want a fight, while keeping cover and an exit lane. A friendly emote is not a guarantee that the other player will remain friendly, and the game explicitly allows Raiders to prey on one another.

Do not fire first when low conflict is the goal

The Getting Started guide says matchmaking considers earlier player behavior and places aggressive players into more aggressive games. If your objective is a quiet lobby, avoid initiating fights when you can disengage. In the standard mode, firing first can also create the noise that attracts ARC and a second human party.

If a fight is unavoidable

  1. Start from cover, not from the extraction control or the center of an open approach.
  2. Keep a retreat route behind you and avoid spending your last stamina on the opening exchange.
  3. Once the immediate threat is over, move away before searching or calling extraction. The second noise event is often what exposes a survivor.
  4. Recheck the map. A fight can make your original exit unsafe even if you won it.

Choose the extraction route by exposure, not distance

Regular points and Raider Hatches solve different problems. The table below compares the documented trade-offs.

Route Noise and visibility Cost Time exposed Late-raid reliability Can a downed Raider use it?
Regular extraction point Patrolled and conspicuous; activating controls produces a loud blaring sound that can attract ARC and human enemies. No direct cost. About 45 seconds for an elevator to arrive after it is called, followed by the arrival and boarding sequence. Declines as available extractions steadily diminish during the session. Yes. A downed player can crawl to a terminal or into an arriving elevator.
Raider Hatch Designed as a quieter, lower-foot-traffic route with a shorter interaction. One Raider Hatch key; keys may be purchased, crafted, or found. Opens for approximately 10–15 seconds. More forgiving of late timing and does not use the normal shutdown timer, according to the wiki. Yes. Sources document crawling to a hatch while downed.

The developer reports that high-level players used Raider Hatches 40% in historical TT2 test data. The page does not state the test year, so that figure is design history rather than a guarantee of current player behavior.

How to use a regular extraction point without feeding an extract camper

Regular points have no direct cost, but the developer says they draw substantial attention from both ARC and other players. Epic’s guide also describes patrols and the loud activation alarm. Treat the point as a small operation rather than a button you press while exposed.

  1. Arrive early. Do not wait until the final minutes, when fewer options remain and a failed call may leave no practical alternative.
  2. Scout before activating. From cover, check the approaches, vertical angles, nearby patrols, and the direction you will retreat if the alarm starts.
  3. Call from a defensible position. Activation is noisy. Stand where you can break line of sight immediately instead of beside the terminal in the open.
  4. Use the arrival delay. The Getting Started guide gives about 45 seconds for the elevator to arrive after it is called. Spend that time watching angles, listening, and repositioning—not searching another container.
  5. Board decisively. When the elevator arrives, move through the safest approach and avoid an unnecessary fight at the doorway. If the route becomes untenable, disengage and use your fallback rather than donating your position to a camper.

“Extract camping” is most dangerous when you have already announced yourself and then remain stationary. The counter is early scouting, cover between the call and arrival, and a second route that you can reach without crossing the same exposed lane.

When a Raider Hatch is the safer choice

A Raider Hatch exchanges a key for a quieter, quicker exit. The developer describes hatches as quiet and fast, intended for lower-foot-traffic extraction. The wiki records that a hatch does not use the normal shutdown timer. Once you supply the key, it opens for approximately 10–15 seconds, so the interaction window is short but predictable.

Use a hatch when

  • You have a key and the value of your carried loot justifies spending it.
  • A regular point would require a loud call in an area where patrols or players can easily converge.
  • You are late in the session and want an exit less dependent on a long arrival sequence.
  • You need a route that can still be reached by crawling if someone is downed.

Do not treat the key as a magic shield

A hatch is quieter, not invisible. Check the approach, keep enough stamina to reach it, and avoid making a separate loud event immediately beforehand. If your squad spends the key but arrives with no cover or no healing, the shorter opening cannot repair that positioning mistake.

How to extract while downed

Being downed changes your movement, but it does not always end the raid. Sources document crawling to an extraction terminal or hatch, and a beginner guide says a downed Raider may crawl into an arriving elevator.

  1. Start crawling immediately. Move toward the nearest terminal, hatch, or known elevator path instead of waiting for an uncertain rescue.
  2. Use cover as the route. Crawl behind solid objects and break line of sight. In the PvE test, the eight-second ARC grace period is time to reach concealment or the interaction point; ARC may reacquire you afterward.
  3. Call for the correct help. Tell teammates whether you are crawling to an exit or holding for a revive. A Defibrillator produces a faster revive than a manual interaction, but only attempt it when the approach is defensible.
  4. Commit to one option. Switching from a nearby terminal to a distant rescue can waste the available window. Use the closest viable exit unless a teammate has already secured a safer alternative.

If a teammate is beside you with a Defibrillator and the route is covered, a faster revive may be better than a long crawl. If the approach is exposed, crawling toward a hatch or arriving elevator can preserve a chance that a stationary revive would lose.

Leave before the map removes your choices

The developer says the number of available extractions steadily diminishes during a session. This creates a predictable risk curve: every additional search may add loot, but it also reduces the number of exits you can choose and increases the chance that your remaining route is loud or heavily traveled.

A practical timing rule

  • Early raid: map the exits and collect enough value to justify the run; do not spend stamina or health on unnecessary detours.
  • Middle raid: commit to a primary exit and verify a fallback before starting another noisy interaction.
  • Late raid: stop optimizing loot. Take the first defensible route, especially if your squad has a downed player or has already attracted ARC attention.

The correct question is not “Can we carry one more container?” It is “If this search makes noise and the nearest exit becomes unsafe, which route remains?” If the answer is none, leave now.

  1. Are you carrying irreplaceable loot? If yes, confirm it is in Safe Pocket slots and favor a route that minimizes exposure.
  2. Do you have a Raider Hatch key? If yes, compare the key’s value with the noise and delay of the regular point.
  3. Can you reach the regular point under cover? If not, a free extraction is not truly free; the path may expose the whole squad.
  4. Has the squad recently created noise? After a breach or fight, move, listen, and reassess before activating anything else.
  5. Is anyone downed? Pick the nearest usable terminal, hatch, or elevator route and begin crawling or covering that route immediately.
  6. Are options disappearing? Stop looting and extract. A smaller successful haul is better than a larger haul trapped behind a closing set of exits.

Common mistakes and their fixes

Assuming PvE means invulnerability

Problem: You remain in the open because another Raider cannot deal player damage. Fix: Keep moving toward cover; ARC can reacquire a downed player after eight seconds during the test.

Calling a free extract from the open

Problem: No direct cost is mistaken for no risk. Fix: Scout first, activate from cover, and use the roughly 45-second arrival period to watch angles.

Waiting until every exit is under pressure

Problem: The squad keeps looting while available extractions diminish. Fix: Set a stopping point before the final container and leave when only a forced or attention-heavy route remains.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Trusting an emote more than an escape lane

Problem: A friendly signal causes you to abandon cover. Fix: Communicate, but keep a retreat lane and do not stand beside the other Raider during a loud interaction.

Reviving automatically

Problem: A slow manual revive is attempted in an exposed area. Fix: Crawl toward an exit if that is safer, or use a Defibrillator for the faster revive when a teammate can cover the approach.

What a reliable extraction routine looks like

A dependable squad routine is simple: identify exits before looting, preserve stamina, keep critical loot in Safe Pocket slots, and carry recovery supplies. At the first sign of another Raider, communicate without surrendering cover. After any fight or breach, move before creating more noise. At a regular point, scout, call from cover, and use the arrival delay to defend rather than search. If you have a key and need a quieter, shorter interaction, use a Raider Hatch. If someone goes down, crawl immediately toward the nearest viable route and use the PvE grace period to break line of sight.

The PvE toggle can remove one of the most frustrating failure modes—being shot by another player—but a safe extract still depends on timing, sound, map knowledge, and a route you can reach under pressure. Leaving with less loot is often the decision that preserves the run.
