Elemental Aeries are optional timed battles in Visions of Mana. Bring the vessel that matches the trial’s element; clear three Lesser Aeries of an element to unlock its Greater Aerie. For the Greater trials, the most important preparation is often a charged Class Strike and attacks suited to the enemies’ weaknesses. The available walkthrough details all eight Greater Aeries, but not a verified, complete trial-by-trial guide to all 24 Lesser Aeries.
How Elemental Aeries work
Each Aerie challenges you to defeat enemy waves before time runs out. Carrying the matching elemental vessel is required to enter. The vessels also have combat and exploration uses; Square Enix describes them in its official introduction.
For an element with a Greater Aerie, clear its three Lesser Aeries to unlock the Greater challenge. The in-game map’s Aerie progress display helps track which Lesser trials you have completed. The available general guide also notes that Darkness and Light Greater Aeries do not require Lesser clears. Game8’s Aerie overview explains the optional trial structure.
The Greater-trial strategies below are walkthrough advice, not firsthand test results. Exact tactics can depend on your party and equipment, so treat alternatives as options rather than guaranteed outcomes.

Greater Aerie strategies, by element
The walkthrough guide reports the following locations, timers, waves and rewards. Its reward details are not complete for Moon and Wood, so those are marked accordingly rather than guessed. DigitalTQ’s Greater Aerie guide

Fire: bring Water damage for the Dark Funks
Fire is a damage-check puzzle. DigitalTQ describes Dark Funks as immune to physical and magical attacks except Water attacks; a GameFAQs walkthrough describes them as resistant to physical damage and says some magic has no effect. Both accounts point to the same practical preparation: bring Water damage and a strong Class Strike. GameFAQs’ walkthrough suggests a Duelist Val Class Strike for wave one. For wave two, it gives either a Palamena Petrification setup or Morley’s Geyser with Water-damage boosts after using a Dark elemental break to gather enemies.

Water: use a fast plan for five short waves
The guides agree that this is a brief, multiwave fight and that the final enemy can consume the remaining time, but they describe different tactics. DigitalTQ recommends repeated Blaze Wall casts and a charged Class Strike against the last crab. GameFAQs offers an alternative based on fast casts, wind-vessel attacks and a charged Class Strike against the final Clincher Crab. Start with the Class Strike gauge full if following either approach; these are separate walkthrough recommendations, not a single combined sequence.
Moon: prioritize physical attacks
With only 20 seconds for three waves, use quick physical attacks rather than spending time on magic the guide says barely damages the enemies. Save the charged Class Strike for the last wave.

Wood: protect against freezing
Null Freeze addresses the Frost Dragon’s freeze effect. The suggested sequence is a Class Strike on the first group, magic on the second, then a Class Strike on the last group if the gauge has recovered.
Earth: assign Palamena’s tools across the rounds
The suggested order is Undine Flask for the first round, Palamena’s Class Strike for the second and magic for the third. The trial lasts 1 minute 30 seconds, so move promptly between groups.
Air, Darkness and Light: clear efficiently
For Air, the guide considers the two-minute timer generous relative to the Level 99 enemy group, so focus on efficient wave clearing. Darkness has only two rounds and 20 seconds: use the Lumina Lantern to link the first wave, then a Class Strike on the second. Light allows four rounds in two minutes; the guide recommends magic such as Blaze Wall and a charged Class Strike to clear a round.

The reliable general rule is that three Lesser Aeries of the same element unlock that element’s Greater challenge, and the map tracks Lesser progress. The available chapter walkthrough mentions scattered examples, not a complete list of all locations, wave rosters, timers, rewards or optimal tactics. Its chapter passages name Blaze Wall, Consecutive Casting: Fire and Wrath of Fire among Fire rewards; Wrath of Water and Wrath of Wind; Wrath of Light, Celestial Burst and Consecutive Casting: Light; and Wrath of Earth, Wrath of Wood, Consecutive Casting: Wood and Revivifier among Earth and Wood rewards. These examples should not be mistaken for a full checklist. Use the map to find and track the trials available in your playthrough.
If a Greater attempt fails
DigitalTQ reports that a failed attempt can be retried without a game over or losing HP, MP or Class Strike gauge. Use a retry to adjust your element-specific attacks or the timing of your Class Strike.
