Mad Tiger is an optional Chapter 2 boss in Black Myth: Wukong. To reach him, complete the Old Rattle-Drum quest: defeat Tiger’s Acolyte, activate the drum at three locations, then enter the well in Sandgate Village. In the fight, avoid trading blows with his fast attacks, dodge his grab and leap slams, and punish briefly after his moves finish.
How to unlock Mad Tiger and reach the well
Mad Tiger is an optional encounter, not a main-story requirement. The Old Rattle-Drum quest leads to his arena:

- Defeat Tiger’s Acolyte in Chapter 2 and collect the Old-Rattle Drum.
- Use the drum at the three quest interaction points. The route is described as beginning near Windseal Gate, continuing in Windrest Hamlet, and ending in Sandgate Village.
- After the final interaction and its cutscene, enter the well in Sandgate Village to start the fight. The arena is also identified as Bottom of the Well.

How to handle Mad Tiger’s attacks
Mad Tiger attacks quickly and hits hard, but guides describe him as having relatively little health. That makes avoiding damage more valuable than trying to win trades: let attacks commit, evade, then use the opening to strike.

Watch for the grab and leap slams
Be ready to dodge the opening leap; one guide warns that it can turn into a grab if you fail to evade. The boss-guide listing also calls out grab attacks and leap slams. Do not rush in while the move is still underway; attack once Mad Tiger has landed or finished the sequence. (GPAP360; Black Myth Guide)
Move away when the roar brings falling rocks
The roar can be followed by rocks falling across the arena. Treat the warning as a cue to stop attacking and get clear rather than trying to finish a combo through the hazard. (Black Myth Guide)

Use one or two attacks, then reset
If you are still learning the timing, take a conservative approach: dodge a slash, swipe, or leap, land one or two attacks, and prepare to evade again. A walkthrough also recommends rolling toward Mad Tiger as he leaps with a boulder; use that as a timing option to test, not a reason to stay close through every attack. Choose a cautious or burst approach

When to heal and avoid trading hits
PowerPyx cautions that Mad Tiger may kill the player in one or two hits below half health. Treat that as the guide’s warning, not a guaranteed damage threshold for every build or setting. If your health is low, prioritize evasion and healing when you have a safe opening instead of forcing another attack.
