To kill an Abyssal Woods eye monster—officially called an Aging Untouchable—equip a shield with the Parry skill, face its wand attack, and parry just after it raises the wand. A successful parry opens it to a critical riposte and follow-up attacks. If you would rather avoid the fight, crouch through tall grass and stay out of its sight.
What are the eye monsters in the Abyssal Woods?
The enemies are called Aging Untouchables in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree; some guides call them Aged Ones. They can seem immune to ordinary attacks. The supported way to make one vulnerable is to parry its wand attack, then land a critical riposte.
How to sneak past an Aging Untouchable
- Crouch before you enter its view. Move through the tall grass and use cover to break its sightline.
- Keep out of sight as you pass. Noise-reduction gear does not conceal you from an enemy that can see you, so rely on cover rather than sound reduction.
How to kill one with a parry
- Equip a shield with the Parry skill. The Buckler is one option, not a requirement. Shacknews recommends it for its parry animation; other parry shields can work, but may demand tighter timing. Bandai Namco’s combat basics guide explains the general parry and critical-hit mechanics.
- Let the enemy detect you, then face it. Watch for its attack sequence, including its teleport and the moment it raises its wand.
- Parry just after the wand lifts. Shacknews describes this as the timing cue. The parry must meet the incoming attack; if it fails, create another opening and try again.
- Use the critical riposte after a successful parry. Follow with normal attacks if the enemy survives. Do not expect ordinary attacks to hurt it before the parry, or assume one riposte always kills it; the damage and timing can mean another parry is needed.
What do Aging Untouchables drop?
Shacknews reports the Aged One’s Exultation talisman as a reward; it boosts attack power when Madness is triggered nearby. Beebom also reports a Swollen Grape from another enemy. The guides do not establish that every Aging Untouchable drops both items, so treat them as distinct reported rewards rather than guaranteed drops from each one.
