What changes in the Everdark Sovereign fight?
Bandai Namco describes Everdark Sovereigns as stronger, more challenging versions of Nightlords with new moves and increased power. The Sentient Pest version is therefore not simply the original fight with a different name: expect a tougher encounter, and respond with deliberate positioning rather than assuming your usual openings are safe. In its version 1.02.2 patch notes, Bandai Namco says attack and stamina attack power against guarding Nightfarers increased while Animus, Ascendant Light is possessing the Everdark Sovereign Sentient Pest. Some Animus attacks also cause a shorter player stagger duration. In practical terms, do not treat holding guard as a low-risk answer during that phase: prioritize avoiding hits, and be ready to recover if one connects.
How to approach the fight
Keep the boss in view and avoid greedy attacks
A May 20, 2026 guide from position:everything recommends keeping the boss visible, spreading out, dodging diagonally, and taking short, cautious punish windows. These are player-guide recommendations rather than mechanics confirmed in Bandai Namco’s notes. They offer a sensible approach when the fight becomes hard to read: stay aware of the boss’s position, evade first, and use only the opening you can safely reach.

Try jumping against the scorpion’s attacks
In a July 3, 2025 video-guide description, creator Jay Dunna recommends jumping over many of the scorpion’s attacks. Treat this as a dodge option to try, not a guarantee that every attack can be jumped. Watch the attack and use the response that gets you clear; if a jump leaves you exposed, return to ordinary evasive movement.
Coordinate rather than crowding the target
The position:everything guide also advises co-op players to spread out and coordinate roles. The aim is to preserve room to react and avoid everyone converging on the same threat. Its detailed attack-by-attack descriptions are not independently confirmed by the publisher material cited here, so use the broad positioning advice without assuming a specific pattern or arena layout.
What damage types or status effects should you try?
Jay Dunna’s guide suggests fire against both bosses and mentions rot, bleed, and frost as options. It also claims that the moth resists magic and is weaker to slash and pierce, while the scorpion is weaker to strike damage. These are secondary guide claims, not publisher-confirmed weaknesses, so treat them as experiments rather than guaranteed counters. If your build already has a practical way to apply fire or a status effect, it may be worth trying; the available official notes do not establish a universally best weapon, level, resistance setup, or status strategy.

How do you unlock the encounter, and what does it reward?
Bandai Namco says players must defeat the original Nightlord before facing its Everdark Sovereign form when it appears. Everdark Sovereign play is online-only, although solo play is possible while online. A Sovereign victory awards Sovereign Sigils, and the first victory grants additional sigils; the sigils can be exchanged for special Relics and other items, according to Bandai Namco.
The publisher’s June 2025 announcement described the schedule and rotation at that time. It does not establish that Sentient Pest is available now, so check the game’s current in-game notices for its present availability.
