Start with Angstrom Levy’s auto-combo or a short normal-attack sequence, cancel that sequence into one special, and add a super or partner tag only after the first section is repeatable. That is the safest beginner route because Invincible VS teaches this exact progression in Training mode. Angstrom’s portals and orbs make spacing, destination and timing more important than memorizing a long string. The sequence below is a practice framework, not a verified button-by-button combo: use the current in-game command list to confirm every input in your build.
Angstrom became the game’s third downloadable fighter and 21st playable character in Season 2 on October 13, 2026, so patch changes are a real consideration. His official move descriptions establish what each tool does, but they do not publish a validated beginner route, damage total, frame data or universal starter. Check the official Angstrom Levy move list before committing to an input sequence.

What a beginner Angstrom route should accomplish
A useful first route has one job: teach you to recognize when a normal attack has connected, cancel into a special, and stop before the sequence becomes difficult to control. Damage is secondary at this stage. The game’s producer, Mike Willette, described the built-in teaching order as normal attacks into specials, specials into supers, and supers into partner tags. He also noted that the easier auto-combo does less damage while teaching those fundamentals. His explanation appears in the March 10, 2026 PlayStation Blog interview.
For Angstrom, that lesson must include a second skill: controlling where a portal or orb will be when the opponent recovers. A route that technically connects but leaves Angstrom, the opponent or an orb in an unexpected position is not yet beginner-friendly. Build the sequence in small sections and record whether the same spacing works repeatedly.

- Use one repeatable normal starter or the auto-combo.
- Attach one special at a time rather than changing several variables.
- Observe the opponent’s location and Angstrom’s reappearance after every portal interaction.
- Add super-cancel or tag extensions only after the first section works consistently.
Set up Training mode before practicing
The official launch information identifies Training mode as the place to learn character-specific movesets. Open it from the game’s practice options, select Angstrom Levy, and keep his command list visible while you work. The Xbox Wire launch article describes Training mode in the launch context, while the game’s Steam listing identifies the available game and mode information.
Recommended first settings
- Use a stationary opponent for the first repetitions so distance does not change between attempts.
- Turn on input display if your platform provides it; this lets you distinguish a missed cancel from a wrong direction.
- Enable hit and combo information so you can see whether the special actually connected.
- Reset the position after each attempt instead of walking back manually.
- After the basic section works, test a second starting distance and a blocking opponent to learn where the route stops being reliable.
Do not treat a successful sequence in one position as universal. Angstrom’s portals can move fighters and projectiles, so a route’s outcome depends on where the portal is placed and which direction it faces.
Stage 1: learn the normal starter
Begin with the shortest normal sequence you can perform without watching your hands. If the auto-combo is easier, use it first. The purpose is to establish a consistent hit-confirm rhythm, not to optimize damage.
- Stand at a fixed distance from the training dummy.
- Perform the same short normal sequence ten times without adding a special.
- Reset whenever the first attack misses or the sequence leaves you at a different distance.
- Once the sequence is stable, watch for the hit-confirm cue before attempting the cancel.
Use a sequence that leaves you close enough for the next move in the same position. If a normal pushes the opponent away, note that distance instead of forcing the special immediately. The point of this stage is to know what your starter looks like before portals and orbs add visual clutter.
Stage 2: attach one special
The first practical route shape is:
short normal sequence → one Angstrom special
This is a structure, not a published input string. Confirm the current directions and buttons in the command list because the available variants and controls can change between builds.
Start with Portal
Portal creates a vertical opening. Angstrom’s official page says it can affect Angstrom, his opponent or one of his projectiles, and that tapping a direction changes its placement. Practice the cancel while tracking two separate events: where the opening appears and where Angstrom reappears. A portal that connects but relocates you out of your intended follow-up is still useful information.

- Perform the normal starter from the fixed position.
- Cancel into Portal using the direction shown in the current command list.
- Repeat without attacking afterward; learn the portal’s location and Angstrom’s exit point.
- Try the same cancel at a slightly different starting distance and record whether the opponent remains in range.
Do not assume every Portal direction has the same route. Direction changes placement, and placement changes both safety and follow-up opportunities.

Then test Fastball
Fastball launches an orb. Its charged version returns to Angstrom, creating a different timing problem from Portal. First learn the uncharged version so you can see when the orb leaves Angstrom and whether it reaches the opponent from your normal starter.
- Repeat the normal sequence until the hit-confirm timing feels automatic.
- Cancel into Fastball and watch the orb’s travel rather than immediately adding another attack.
- Move the starting distance one small step at a time to find where the orb connects.
- Practice the charged version separately and identify when the returning orb reaches Angstrom.
The returning orb may change the timing of your next action. Treat its return as a separate cue; do not mash through it while learning the route.
Stage 3: understand Ground Portal as a separate branch
Ground Portal is not simply another version of Portal. The official move list describes it as a horizontal defensive portal that can teleport Angstrom or the opponent, has Armor Break, and leads into a rising uppercut. Because it changes both position and defensive interaction, learn it independently from the basic normal-to-special route.
- Practice Ground Portal without a normal starter until you know which side of the opponent each teleport option produces.
- Test it against a stationary opponent, then against an opponent using the defensive behavior available in Training mode.
- Observe the rising uppercut follow-up and whether your chosen distance leaves it in range.
- Only after this is familiar, try connecting Ground Portal after your normal sequence.
Its Armor Break property makes it strategically distinct, but the available sources do not establish a universal combo conversion, frame advantage or guaranteed follow-up from it. Use the move list and your current build to verify what happens in practice.

Stage 4: add Angstrom’s setup tools
Once one normal-to-special section is repeatable, add the moves that make Angstrom’s zoning game distinctive. These are not mandatory links in the beginner route; they are controlled experiments for learning timing and space.

These descriptions come from the official character page. They explain each tool’s role but do not rank a strongest combo or establish guaranteed frame or damage outcomes.
Stage 5: add a super, then a partner tag
After the normal-to-special section works from more than one distance, test a super cancel. Keep the earlier portion unchanged and add only the super input. If the special does not connect reliably, remove the super and return to the previous stage; a longer route cannot repair an inconsistent first link.
- Perform the normal starter.
- Confirm the special connects and leaves the opponent in the expected position.
- Attempt the super during the special’s valid cancel window shown by your practice results and current command list.
- Repeat from the original distance until the super works without guessing.
- Only then test tagging a partner after the super, as the game’s teaching progression recommends.
Partner tags add a resource and character-control decision, so consider them an extension rather than part of the first route you learn. If the tag changes spacing, practice the partner’s first action separately before combining it with Angstrom’s sequence.

Xbox Wire describes Angstrom as a zoning-focused character built around setups, strategy and control of space. It also explains that portals can support offense, defense and mobility, while orbs can interact with portals to create pressure and traps. Read that as a decision framework, not as proof of a specific guaranteed combo.
Spacing
Ask whether the normal starter, portal and orb occupy the same useful range. A sequence that works point-blank may fail when the opponent is outside the normal’s reach or when Portal places Angstrom farther away.
Destination
After every teleport, identify which side of the opponent you occupy. Side switches can change the direction of your next input and may reverse the intended follow-up.

Timing
Fastball’s charged return, Guardian’s delayed launch and Portal placement all create timing cues. Learn one cue at a time rather than combining several delayed objects in the first practice session.
Control of space
A route can be successful even when it ends without a large damage extension if it leaves an orb, portal or favorable distance that limits the opponent’s next action. The sources do not provide quantitative rankings, so evaluate this in your own training tests rather than calling one setup universally best.
Compare candidate routes without inventing a “best” combo
When you have two workable practice branches, compare them using the same criteria. No published source in the available material supplies numerical scores for these categories.

Common practice failures and fixes
The special never comes out
Check the input display and slow the sequence down. First perform the normal and special as separate actions, then shorten the gap until the cancel works. Confirm the command list for the current build before changing your direction or button assumptions.
The special comes out but misses
Reset to the distance where it connected, then move the dummy one small increment at a time. For Portal, inspect placement and Angstrom’s exit point. For Fastball, check whether the orb reaches the opponent before changing the starter.

Practice the Portal direction without a combo and identify the exit side. A side switch may require a different next input; do not repeat the original follow-up automatically.

The charged Fastball timing feels random
Remove the normal starter and learn the orb’s return cue by itself. Reintroduce the starter only after you can identify when the charged orb comes back to Angstrom.
The route works once but fails in matches
Test a blocking opponent and multiple starting distances. The third-party beginner guide updated October 12, 2026 warns that patches have changed combo rules and defensive timing; use it as a reminder to recheck the current command list and Training mode rather than as verification of an Angstrom route. A practical 20-minute session
- Minutes 1–4: Read Angstrom’s current command list and perform each listed special once so you know the controls.
- Minutes 5–8: Repeat the short normal sequence or auto-combo from one fixed distance.
- Minutes 9–12: Add Portal only. Record its placement and Angstrom’s exit side.
- Minutes 13–15: Reset and test Fastball, first uncharged and then charged, without adding another move.
- Minutes 16–18: Try the normal-to-special section from a second distance and against a blocking setting.
- Minutes 19–20: If the section is stable, test one super cancel; otherwise return to the failing step and remove the extension.
Repeat this session with Ground Portal, Overflow or Guardian only after the first branch is comfortable. Keeping one variable per session makes it easier to identify whether a failure came from execution, spacing or delayed projectile timing.

The available official material supports Angstrom’s move functions and the game’s normal-to-special-to-super-to-tag teaching structure. It does not publish an Angstrom-specific beginner string, frame data, damage number, success rate or matchup guarantee. Consequently, any article that presents exact directional inputs or a fixed damage total as universally tested would be making a claim these sources do not establish.
Invincible VS launched on April 30, 2026, and Angstrom’s Season 2 availability was announced for October 13, 2026. Those dates are version-sensitive context; if you read this after a later patch, verify the command list, cancel behavior and defensive timing again before relying on the practice sequence.
When to move beyond the beginner route
Advance when you can perform the same normal-to-special section from at least two starting distances, recognize the portal destination without hesitation, and reproduce the orb timing without watching your inputs. At that point, choose one direction based on your goal:
- Safer space control: explore Portal placement, Overflow angles and Guardian timing.
- Mobility and defense: test Ground Portal’s teleport options and rising-uppercut follow-up.
- Damage extension: add a super, then a partner tag, while checking that the earlier section remains stable.
- Match preparation: test the route against movement, blocking and different distances rather than relying on a stationary dummy.
Keep the shortest reliable branch as your fallback. Longer portal-and-orb sequences are worthwhile only when you know what each added action is meant to accomplish.
