There is no developer-certified “best” sensitivity preset in ARC Raiders. The most reliable approach is to start from a comfortable baseline, change one control at a time, and keep only adjustments that make both quick turns and target tracking consistent. Mouse-and-keyboard and controller options use different menus and scales, so tune the input method you actually use. Treat the Grappling Hook as a traversal tool rather than a weapon-aim setting: Embark describes it as a way to reach high spots, descend from buildings, and cross gaps, and its official documentation does not prescribe a special sensitivity value.
What to change first
Open ARC Raiders’ current settings menu and identify the section for your input method before changing anything. A community-maintained settings reference lists separate PC mouse-and-keyboard controls and controller controls, while warning in practice that the fields and scales should not be treated as interchangeable. Check the labels in your installed build because patches can rename, add, or move options. The settings reference is useful for locating fields, but the live game remains the authority.

- Record your current values. Take a screenshot or write down every aim-related setting so you can undo a change without guessing.
- Choose a repeatable test. Use the same training area or a quiet match situation to perform a fast 180-degree turn, a slow target follow, and a short burst while moving.
- Change one setting only. Adjust horizontal sensitivity, vertical sensitivity, zoom sensitivity, or an ADS behavior setting—not several at once.
- Run the same test again. Keep the change only when both turning and tracking remain controllable. If one improves while the other becomes erratic, return to the previous value and test a smaller change.
- Recheck after patches. Input labels and default values can change; verify the menu and binding after each major update.
This process is a comfort-and-consistency method, not a controlled performance test. Neither Embark nor the reviewed sources publishes a universal sensitivity number or a benchmark proving that one preset is superior.

On PC, the settings reference identifies separate horizontal sensitivity, vertical sensitivity, and zoom sensitivity controls. They govern different parts of aiming: horizontal and vertical values affect general view movement, while zoom sensitivity affects movement while looking through a weapon’s zoom or aiming view. Keep the three concepts separate when tuning.

| Control | What it changes | Useful adjustment goal | How to judge it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Horizontal sensitivity | Left-right camera movement during normal look and aim | Fast enough to turn toward a threat without overshooting | Perform a repeatable 180-degree turn, then stop on a fixed point |
| Vertical sensitivity | Up-down camera movement | Controlled recoil correction and elevation changes | Track a target moving across different heights without bouncing above or below it |
| Zoom sensitivity | Camera movement while zoomed or aiming down sights | Fine tracking that does not feel sluggish or twitchy | Follow a moving target through a short, steady burst while zoomed |
A practical PC baseline
Begin with the game’s default values unless you already have a calibrated preference from another shooter. Defaults provide a known reference and avoid copying an unverified number from an older guide. If turning feels slow but tracking is stable, raise horizontal sensitivity by a small increment and leave vertical and zoom values untouched. If you turn quickly but repeatedly pass the target, lower horizontal sensitivity instead of compensating with several other controls.
Make vertical changes independently. A vertical value that is too high can make small corrections jump past a head or weak point; one that is too low can make elevation changes require multiple mouse movements. Use a repeatable target at two heights and keep the value that lets you move between them without a second correction.
How to tune zoom sensitivity
Zoom sensitivity deserves its own test because a comfortable general-look speed can feel too fast through a sight. Start from the current value, then track a moving target for several seconds while zoomed. Lower it if your reticle repeatedly oscillates around the target; raise it if the reticle lags behind a predictable movement. Keep the change only if you can also make a quick correction when the target changes direction.
A PC-specific keybind and mouse guide published by GameSpot on October 30, 2025 offers third-party recommendations, but those suggestions are subjective and may predate later patches. Use them as ideas to test, not as Embark-tested specifications: GameSpot’s PC guide.
Best controller settings for aiming
Controller settings are presented separately from PC mouse controls. Do not copy a mouse sensitivity number into a controller field or assume that a controller slider has the same range or effect. Open the controller section in your current build, note its labels and ranges, and apply the same one-change-at-a-time method.

Build a controller baseline
- Restore the controller section to its defaults or record your existing values.
- Test normal camera movement with the right stick using a slow target follow and a fast turn.
- Adjust the general look speed in a small step if either task is consistently too slow or too fast.
- Test aiming or zoomed movement separately. If your build exposes a distinct aiming or zoom value, change that field alone.
- Repeat the movement test while walking, strafing, and changing elevation. Keep the setting that remains predictable under all three conditions.
Controller sticks, dead zones, acceleration, and response curves can make an identical numeric value feel different between players. The reviewed official sources do not establish a single controller preset, so prioritize a repeatable reticle path over a number copied from another player.
Dead-zone and drift checks
If the camera moves while the right stick is untouched, correct stick drift or increase the relevant dead-zone option only as far as necessary. A large dead zone can delay small corrections; a small one can allow unwanted movement. Make this a separate change from sensitivity so you can tell whether the problem is drift or speed.

Embark’s Cold Snap patch notes, dated December 16, 2025, state that a toggle Aim Down Sights option was added: official patch notes. Check the current menu and your chosen binding, because the option’s location or label may have changed since those notes.
| ADS behavior | When it may suit you | Trade-off to check |
|---|---|---|
| Hold | You want zoom to end as soon as you release the button, or you frequently switch between hip fire and aiming | Continuous finger pressure can be tiring during long engagements |
| Toggle | You prefer one press to enter aiming and another to leave it, or holding the button is uncomfortable | Remembering the current ADS state can take practice during rapid transitions |
The patch notes confirm the option, not that one behavior is more accurate. Pick the mode that lets you activate and cancel ADS deliberately, then practice the same target-tracking test in that mode.
How the Grappling Hook affects aiming
The Grappling Hook is a traversal gadget, not a second weapon-aim sensitivity mode. In Embark’s Frozen Trail content preview, the ARC Raiders team writes: That’s where the Grapple Hook comes in, letting you climb hard to reach spots, abseil off buildings, and swing over large gaps.

Because the official description focuses on movement, the reviewed documentation provides no grapple-specific aim sensitivity, reticle-speed recommendation, or definitive button sequence. Before relying on any guide, look at the prompt shown in your own game for the Grappling Hook slot and verify the current binding on your platform.
A safe grapple workflow
- Equip the item and confirm its prompt. The displayed input is the authoritative binding for your keyboard, controller layout, and current patch.
- Place the reticle on a valid attachment point. Aim at the ledge, structure, or surface you intend to reach; the game’s prompt or reticle feedback should indicate whether it can connect.
- Fire from a stable position. Stop unnecessary camera movement before activating the hook so you do not launch toward an unintended surface.
- Read the movement state. During a climb, descent, or swing, keep your camera movement deliberate and avoid changing sensitivity while learning the route.
- Release or cancel using the current on-screen instruction. Bindings can differ by platform and may be revised, so do not rely on an unverified button copied from an older video.
Practise traversal without corrupting your aim test
Learn grapple routes separately from sensitivity testing. First practise attaching to a nearby ledge, then a longer swing over a gap, and finally descending from a building. Once those actions are familiar, return to the same turning and tracking drill used for weapon aim. This separates a traversal mistake—such as selecting an invalid attachment point—from a sensitivity problem.
Grappling Hook versus Snap Hook: do not mix the items up
The October 8, 2026 Frozen Trail 2.0 update introduced the Grappling Hook and separately changed the pre-existing Snap Hook. Embark says the design goal was to distinguish the Snap Hook as a burst-mobility gadget from the new Grappling Hook. The update’s figures apply to the Snap Hook only:
| Snap Hook property | Before the update | After the October 8, 2026 update |
|---|---|---|
| Range | 20 m | 18 m |
| Durability consumed per use | 2% | 4% |
| Power cost | 50 | 60 |
These values are not Grappling Hook specifications. Do not use the Snap Hook’s range, durability consumption, or power cost to predict how the Grappling Hook behaves. Read the full update for the item separation and balance rationale: Frozen Trail 2.0 update.
A repeatable aim-and-movement practice routine
Stage 1: quick-turn control
Face a fixed landmark, turn approximately 180 degrees, and stop on a second landmark. Repeat in both directions. If you regularly stop short, increase the relevant general-look value slightly; if you overshoot, reduce it. Use the same distance and landmarks each time.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
Stage 2: target tracking
Follow a moving target horizontally for several seconds, then repeat while it changes height. Keep your reticle on the target rather than trying to finish a shot quickly. This exposes separate horizontal and vertical problems that a single flick can hide.
Stage 3: zoomed correction
Enter ADS or zoom, follow the target, and make one deliberate direction change. Adjust zoom sensitivity only when this stage is inconsistent while the general-look stages are stable.
Stage 4: movement under pressure
Repeat the three stages while strafing, backing away, and changing elevation. Keep the setting only if your corrections remain predictable when your character is moving. A value that feels fast in a stationary test may be difficult to control while repositioning.
Stage 5: traversal confirmation
Equip the Grappling Hook, verify its current prompt, and practise one climb, one descent, and one swing. Do not alter aim sensitivity during this stage. If the hook fails to activate, first check the binding and attachment point rather than changing camera speed.

“Turning is good, but zoomed aim is unstable.”
Leave horizontal and vertical sensitivity unchanged and adjust zoom sensitivity alone. Test tracking and a single direction change; do not judge it only by how quickly you can spin.
“Vertical corrections overshoot.”
Lower vertical sensitivity in a small step and repeat the two-height target test. If the camera still moves unexpectedly while the stick or mouse is at rest, investigate drift or hardware input rather than continuing to lower sensitivity.
“The Grappling Hook will not fire.”
Check that the Grappling Hook is equipped, read the on-screen prompt, and aim at a surface the game recognizes as attachable. Verify the binding in the current controls menu. The official sources do not establish one universal activation sequence, so an older button guide may no longer match your platform or patch.

“I copied a number from a guide and it feels wrong.”
Different devices, resolutions, field-of-view preferences, stick conditions, and play styles change how a slider feels. Restore your recorded baseline and use the one-setting process instead of treating a third-party number as a tested standard.
What a good final setup looks like
- You can perform a quick turn without routinely passing the intended direction.
- You can track a target through horizontal and vertical movement with small corrections.
- Zoomed aim has its own deliberately tested value rather than an accidental copy of general look speed.
- Your ADS mode—hold or toggle—activates and cancels predictably and is comfortable for your hands.
- Your controller has no unmanaged drift, or your mouse movement is consistent enough to repeat the same test.
- You know the current Grappling Hook prompt and can climb, descend, and swing without confusing the tool with the Snap Hook.
- You have recorded the values so a patch or profile reset can be reversed quickly.
Use the settings that satisfy those checks, not a number labeled “best” by an unverified list. ARC Raiders’ current menus and item behavior should always take precedence over older screenshots, videos, or copied bindings.
