Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteBuild around the heroes you can develop, the activity you want to clear, and the damage source your current progression favors—not a tier list’s ideal roster. Choose a dependable damage dealer, then add the support, protection, or fortress-focused buffs that solve your actual bottleneck. Rework the lineup when you change modes or unlock progression systems that shift how your team deals damage.
Start with your roster, progress, and goal
Before choosing a lineup, write down the heroes you own, how developed they are, and what you are trying to beat. A team for a boss, waves of enemies, a dungeon, or PvP may need different strengths. Fortress Saga features hero roles and synergies alongside a moving fortress, hero weapons, dungeons, and PvP, according to its Google Play listing.

Use this quick check to define the problem:
- Roster: Which heroes are available, and which can you realistically upgrade?
- Development: How do their levels, stars, weapons, and useful passives compare?
- Activity: Is the obstacle a boss, a wave, a dungeon, PvP, or general progression?
- Failure point: Are you short on damage, losing heroes too quickly, or missing a useful buff?
That last question matters: a lineup that survives but cannot finish a boss has a different problem from one that deals damage but gets overwhelmed. The current Pocket Gamer tier list also acknowledges that players may need to upgrade lower-rarity heroes before obtaining preferred picks; treat its rankings as a reference, not a requirement for your account.
Give each slot a job
There is no single role template established as mandatory for every team. Instead, check whether your lineup covers the jobs that matter for the activity in front of you. The game’s official listing describes hero roles and team synergies; an older Pocket Tactics guide uses terms including dealer, tank, bruiser, and support. Its March 2024 rankings are dated, so use that source for role vocabulary rather than current tier advice.

#1 Best Overall
- A build-it-yourself anime figure; requires assembly. Its highly articulated design and interchangeable parts allow for a variety of display options.
- Design inspiration: Includes the 30MF ROSAN LANCER, Rosan Fortress and Advanced Armour Accessory Pack, faithfully recreating the medieval style and details of the original artwork.
- Material: Crafted from high-quality PVC.
- Size: Approximately 15 cm / 5.9 inches in height when fully assembled, ideal for display on a desk, bookshelf, display cabinet or in a collection space.
- Gift: The perfect present for collectors, suitable for Christmas gifts, birthday presents and more.
- Damage: Pick the best-developed hero you own who can contribute to the target. For a boss, prioritize a damage option that works against a single target; for waves, consider what helps you clear groups.
- Support or buffer: Add a hero whose effects strengthen your damage dealer, the fortress, or the team’s ability to keep fighting.
- Protection: If survival is the issue, consider a durable frontline option or healing and shielding support where available.
- Additional utility: Fill remaining choices with effects that address the mode’s demands rather than adding a weakly developed hero solely for rarity or reputation.
These are selection axes, not a fixed “one of each” formula. A support that amplifies the damage source you rely on may be more useful than another attacker; if your team already survives comfortably, extra protection may not solve the problem.
Compare the heroes you actually own
When choosing between two available heroes, compare them in the context of your current mode. A highly ranked hero who is underdeveloped or lacks a relevant weapon is not automatically the best practical pick for your account. Community discussions about roster decisions also highlight durability, weapon access, and substitutions as account-specific concerns; they do not establish a universal winner.
| What to compare | Question to ask |
|---|---|
| Role in this activity | Does this hero solve the current problem—boss damage, wave clearing, survival, or another mode-specific need? |
| Development and upgrade access | How developed is the hero now, and can you reasonably improve them? |
| Weapon and passive synergy | Do their available weapon or passive effects support your chosen damage source or team plan? |
| Durability and sustain | Will the hero stay useful long enough, or does the lineup need more protection or healing? |
| Damage source | Does the hero strengthen fortress damage, hero-team damage, or both in the situation you are tackling? |
Use the answers to make a roster-specific choice; they are not a score that produces one best lineup for every player.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Build and test a lineup step by step
- Name the activity and bottleneck. Decide which stage or mode is causing trouble, then identify whether damage, durability, or a missing effect is the main obstacle.
- Choose your most practical damage option. Start with an owned hero who fits the activity and is developed enough to contribute. Do not select solely by a tier-list position.
- Add the effect that supports that plan. Look for a buffer or support that benefits your selected damage source or the fortress. If survival is failing, address that with protection or sustain instead.
- Check weapons and passives. Compare the effects you can actually use, not just the hero’s theoretical potential. A useful weapon or passive may change which of two owned options fits your lineup.
- Test in the problem activity. If the team still fails, identify what happens: damage is too low, the team falls, or a particular enemy or phase stalls progress. Change one or two choices to address that failure rather than rebuilding without a reason.
- Reassess after progression changes. Unlocks such as Harmony Sanctum may affect which damage source is central to your plan. Recheck the team when you move to a new activity or progression stage.
Adjust for Harmony Sanctum and the activity
After unlocking Harmony Sanctum
One player discussion about Stage 13-16 describes a progression-specific shift after Harmony Sanctum, with the fortress becoming the main damage source for a time. The player’s suggested boss lineup centers on Hoya as a fortress buffer, a tank, Mael for boss damage and silence, Violet for support, and another team buffer, with a sixth-slot option. This is anecdotal advice for that reported progression and boss context—not a universal lineup or a verified rule for every stage.
If your own progress resembles that situation, evaluate heroes by whether they help the fortress plan, cover survival, or provide useful boss damage or utility. If your results do not support that approach, use the damage source and roles that are working in your account instead.
Bosses, waves, dungeons, and PvP
Keep the activity attached to every lineup decision. A boss example should not be treated as a wave-clearing or PvP recommendation. The official game listing includes dungeons and PvP, and the available evidence does not establish a single lineup that performs best across them. Revisit your damage, support, and survival choices whenever the objective changes.
Use tier lists as dated references
Pocket Gamer’s tier list was updated September 16, 2026, for version 2.1.02, and names Anubis as the latest addition. Its rankings are editorial guidance informed by the Japanese version and adapted for the Global server, not official balance data or a guarantee for every server or account. Check its version and context when using it, then weigh any suggested hero against your roster, development, weapons, and activity.
The Google Play listing reports an update on September 29, 2026, but that date does not by itself establish that the tier list reflects every change in that update. Pocket Tactics’ March 13, 2024 list is older still; its role labels can help describe team functions, but its rankings should not be read as the current meta.
