Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is available as a digital Nintendo Switch game from October 15, 2026. To buy it, connect your Switch to the internet, open Nintendo eShop, choose the Nintendo Account that should own the game, search for the exact title, select the standard digital edition or Midnight Edition, choose Continue or Proceed to Purchase, complete payment, and let the automatic download finish.

Nintendo estimates the Switch download at 4.2 GB. Check your available storage before confirming the purchase, and use a compatible microSD card if the console does not have enough free space.

What you need before buying

The eShop purchase is straightforward, but four checks prevent most problems: release availability, account ownership, regional listing details, and storage.

The game is a released Nintendo Switch product

Nintendo lists Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse as a digital Nintendo Switch product with an October 15, 2026 release date. Because that date has passed, the normal purchase and download flow applies rather than a preorder flow. Nintendo’s listing uses the product description “Crimson Curse —Will Your Fate Bloom in Despair or Salvation”.

A Nintendo Account must be linked

Nintendo eShop access requires a Nintendo Account linked to the Switch user profile. The account selected when the transaction is completed is the account to which the software purchase belongs. Select the profile of the person who should retain access to the game; do not buy it from a temporary or different family profile by mistake.

Storefront details depend on country

The exact price, tax treatment, payment choices, edition names, available bonuses, and storefront availability can vary by country. Open the Nintendo store for your own region immediately before paying. Do not rely on a price shown for another country or assume that every region packages the downloadable content in the same way.

Check free space first

Nintendo gives an estimated download size of 4.2 GB for the Switch version and warns that some hardware configurations may require additional storage. Leave more free space than the estimate rather than treating 4.2 GB as a guaranteed exact installation footprint. A Nintendo Switch-compatible microSD card is the practical solution when internal storage is insufficient.

Buy Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse on the console

Use this sequence on the Switch itself. Keep the console connected to the internet from the start of the purchase through the download.

  1. Confirm the connection and account. From the HOME Menu, verify that the Switch is online and that your user profile has a linked Nintendo Account. Without the account link, eShop purchasing is unavailable.
  2. Open Nintendo eShop. Select the Nintendo eShop icon on the HOME Menu. When prompted to choose a user, select the Nintendo Account that should own Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse.
  3. Search the exact title. Use the eShop search field and enter Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse. Open the official result and check the product details before proceeding. If several results appear, compare the title and edition information rather than selecting a similarly named item.
  4. Choose an edition. Nintendo lists a standard digital product and a separate Midnight Edition page. Select the edition shown in your regional store and read the included-content description. The standard listing also identifies a Bonus Contents Pack and a Digital Sound & Art Gallery DLC item, each with an October 15, 2026 release date.
  5. Select Continue or Proceed to Purchase. The precise button wording can vary with the storefront flow. Continue to the checkout screen after reviewing the edition, price, tax, and any listed downloadable content.
  6. Choose a payment method. Use existing Nintendo eShop funds, add funds with an accepted payment method or eShop card, or select another payment option presented for the title and your region. The available methods are regional and can change, so follow the options currently displayed by Nintendo.
  7. Confirm the transaction. Review the account, edition, total, and any bonus or DLC description one final time, then authorize the purchase. Once Nintendo accepts the transaction, the software is associated with that Nintendo Account.
  8. Wait for the automatic download. Nintendo says the download starts automatically. Return to the HOME Menu to watch the game icon and its progress indicator. Keep the Switch online until installation finishes, then open the icon to start the game.

What happens after payment

The game icon appears on the HOME Menu while the software downloads. The progress indicator shows whether the installation is still in progress. If you leave the eShop after confirmation, you do not need to buy the game again; return to the HOME Menu and monitor the icon there.

If the icon does not appear immediately, give the console time to complete the transaction and refresh its connection. Check that you are viewing the same user profile and Nintendo Account used at checkout. A purchase made on another account will not be transferred simply by changing the active profile.

Buy from a phone or computer

Nintendo also supports purchasing through its website in eligible regions. This route still requires a Nintendo Account and prior eShop access on a Switch.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Sign in to the Nintendo Account that should own the game.
  2. Open the Nintendo store for your country and search for Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse.
  3. Open the game page and verify the edition, price, release status, storage information, and any listed Bonus Contents Pack or Digital Sound & Art Gallery DLC details.
  4. Complete the purchase using the payment option offered for your region.
  5. If Nintendo asks you to choose a target console, select the Switch on which you want the game installed.
  6. Leave that console connected to the internet. Nintendo says the purchased software downloads automatically to the selected console.

If the website does not offer a target-console option or the purchase button is unavailable, use the console eShop instead. Store eligibility, account settings, and regional restrictions can affect the web flow.

Standard edition and Midnight Edition

Nintendo lists two separate products. The information available for the editions does not establish that every bonus is included in Midnight Edition, so read the contents panel on your regional page rather than relying on the edition name alone.

Comparison point Standard digital edition Midnight Edition
Format Digital Nintendo Switch product Separate edition listed by Nintendo; the regional page determines the exact format and contents
Bonus Contents Pack Shown as a separate item on the standard listing, with an October 15, 2026 release date Whether it is included is not stated; check the Midnight Edition page
Digital Sound & Art Gallery DLC Shown as a separate item on the standard listing, with an October 15, 2026 release date Whether it is included is not stated; check the Midnight Edition page
Price Not stated universally; use your country’s Nintendo store Not stated universally; use your country’s Nintendo store
Download requirement Use Nintendo’s current size estimate and check available storage Check the regional listing for the edition’s complete download requirement
Best choice For buyers who want the base digital product and any separately listed content they choose to add For buyers whose regional page confirms that its bundled contents match what they want

The safest way to choose is to compare the checkout descriptions, not just the names. Regional pricing, tax, DLC packaging, and storefront availability can change.

Samsung microSD Express Card – 256GB for Nintendo Switch™ 2
  • Nintendo Switch 2 uses a new standard of expandable memory card called microSD Express (sold separately). This kind of memory card is needed for faster access speeds and to ensure games will run smoothly.
  • Please note: Nintendo Switch 2 is only compatible with microSD Express cards. If the microSD cards you have used for Nintendo Switch do not support microSD Express standards, you cannot use them with Nintendo Switch 2.

How much storage does it need?

Nintendo estimates 4.2 GB for the Switch download. KONAMI’s product specification gives a 4 GB Nintendo Switch version size. These figures are not identical because one is Nintendo’s current estimated download figure and the other is KONAMI’s published specification. Use the larger Nintendo estimate when checking space.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Keep at least 4.2 GB of free space before starting the download, with additional headroom for installation operations and any content shown separately on the store page.
  • Check both internal storage and the currently installed microSD card. A card that is present but nearly full will not solve the problem.
  • If the console reports insufficient space, free storage or insert a Nintendo Switch-compatible microSD card, then retry the download.
  • Check the product page again if you are buying an edition with additional content, because the total required space can differ from the base estimate.

Nintendo cautions that information such as download size may not have been final at the time of a preorder. The listing’s current figure is the one to use when installing, but it can still be updated by the publisher or Nintendo.

Switch and Switch 2 compatibility

Nintendo’s product page marks the software as “Supported – Game behavior is consistent with Nintendo Switch.” That wording confirms compatibility with Nintendo Switch behavior; it does not establish a separate native Nintendo Switch 2 edition. Do not pay extra or expect a distinct Switch 2 build solely because a compatibility label appears on the listing.

If you intend to play on newer hardware, read the exact compatibility and edition information shown in your region’s store before purchasing. The standard Switch listing is the evidence for the product being sold; it should not be reinterpreted as proof of a separate native version.

Digital purchase versus the physical release

The eShop process described here is for the digital Nintendo Switch product. KONAMI states that the physical version requires an additional download from the online store. A physical copy therefore does not necessarily eliminate the need for internet access or free storage.

Prices, payment, and regional checks

No single worldwide price can be stated reliably. Nintendo’s store can show different currencies, taxes, payment methods, inventory status, edition packaging, and DLC treatment by region. Before confirming, verify:

  • the currency and final total after tax;
  • the selected Nintendo Account and target console;
  • whether you selected Standard or Midnight Edition;
  • whether the Bonus Contents Pack or Digital Sound & Art Gallery is included or sold separately;
  • the current download-size estimate; and
  • any age, parental-control, or regional notice shown by Nintendo.

If your preferred payment method is missing, add Nintendo eShop funds with an accepted method or card, then return to checkout. Do not switch to another account merely because it displays a different store balance; that would put the purchase on the wrong account.

Troubleshooting common problems

The game does not appear in search

Confirm the spelling of the complete title, check that you are using the Nintendo eShop for the intended country, and verify the release date has passed in that region. If the regional store does not list the game, the product may not be available there yet or may use a different storefront listing. Do not buy a similarly named result without checking its publisher and edition details.

The purchase button is unavailable

Check that a Nintendo Account is linked to the active user, that the account is allowed to make eShop purchases, and that the selected store supports the transaction. Review any parental-control or age message shown on screen. If the web store blocks checkout, try the console eShop after signing in with the intended account.

The download does not start

Return to the HOME Menu and look for the game icon and progress indicator. Confirm that the Switch remains online and that the purchase was completed under the account you are viewing. If the console is offline, reconnect it and allow time for the automatic download to begin. A missing icon after a confirmed transaction is a reason to reopen eShop with the purchasing account and check the title page.

The console reports insufficient storage

Free space on the destination storage, or install a compatible microSD card, then retry. Use Nintendo’s 4.2 GB estimate as the minimum planning figure and account for any separately listed downloadable content. If you are installing the physical version, remember that KONAMI specifies an additional online download.

The wrong edition was selected

Stop before confirming payment and return to the product page. Compare the Standard and Midnight Edition descriptions, the listed bonus content, the price, and the download information for your region. After purchase, the transaction is associated with the Nintendo Account used at checkout, so verify the selection first.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The game was bought on another account

Purchases belong to the Nintendo Account used in eShop. Sign in to that account on the console to access the software. A different local user profile does not change ownership of the transaction.

A practical purchase checklist

  • Internet connection active on the Switch.
  • Nintendo Account linked to the user who should own the game.
  • Correct regional Nintendo eShop selected.
  • Exact title, Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, verified.
  • Standard or Midnight Edition compared on the product page.
  • Bonus Contents Pack and Digital Sound & Art Gallery treatment checked.
  • At least 4.2 GB of free storage, plus room for any additional content.
  • Final regional price, tax, and payment method reviewed.
  • Automatic download monitored from the HOME Menu after confirmation.

With those checks complete, the normal route is Nintendo eShop, select the owning account, search the title, open the official listing, choose the edition, proceed to purchase, confirm payment, and wait for the automatic download.
