To catch a Pétank, herd it onto the nearby ground plate or golden runic circle. In the fight, watch its escape countdown and spend turns dealing damage, building Break, and applying stun. If it gets away, rest at an Expedition Flag to make it return.
How to trap a Pétank
- Clear nearby enemies if needed. They can interfere while you approach and try to steer the Pétank.
- Find the locking spot. Search the area for a ground plate; it may appear as a golden runic circle.
- Herd the Pétank onto it. Because it runs away when approached, move in from an angle that drives it toward the plate. Reaching the spot traps it and starts the battle.
Guides describe these encounters as occurring in enclosed open areas with a locking area. The practical goal is to corral the Pétank into that marked spot, not to catch it with a weapon or item. AUTOMATON WEST’s April 28, 2025 guide and Gamepressure’s guide, last updated June 26, 2025, describe this trap-and-encounter approach.

How to beat the timed fight
A Pétank has a limited number of turns before it flees. The remaining turns are signaled during the encounter, so keep the countdown in view and prioritize actions that deal damage or help you finish the enemy quickly.

Use your strongest available attacks and Skills. Build Break and apply stun as quickly as your party setup allows: these effects can extend the time you have before the Pétank escapes. There is no universally established best party or build, so use the characters and abilities that can deliver damage and Break efficiently in your current setup.

Parry to gain damage and Action Points
Parrying can deal counter damage and generate Action Points, helping you maintain pressure while building resources for Skills. The fight rewards careful timing, but avoid spending turns on low-impact actions when the countdown is running.
Handle attacks and summons without losing the window
Pétanks can attack at range or in melee, and may summon other Nevrons. Dodge or parry using your usual timing while keeping damage on the Pétank; do not let summoned enemies consume the entire opportunity to defeat it.

Do not waste a shot on the chest orb
The orb in a Pétank’s chest is not a shootable weak point. Save Action Points for Skills rather than spending a shot on it. Gamepressure reports no elemental vulnerabilities or resistances, so the available guides do not establish a particular element as a shortcut.

What to do if the Pétank escapes
Rest at an Expedition Flag to make an escaped Pétank return, then try the encounter again. This is the most consistently supported retry method in the cited guides. AUTOMATON WEST reports that defeated Pétanks do not respawn, so this applies to an escape—not to farming one after victory.

What defeating a Pétank can reward
Defeating one can award upgrade materials. Destructoid names Colour of Lumina and Chroma Catalysts, while AUTOMATON WEST describes the rewards more generally as valuable items. The guides do not establish a complete reward list or fixed quantities for every Pétank variant, so treat these as possible rewards rather than a guaranteed drop table.
