In GOG Galaxy, open your library, select the game, click the customization/settings button next to Play, then choose Manage Installation → Configure…. Pick a language and select OK. Galaxy may download a language pack or rebuild the installation before the change is available.
If the selector is greyed out and says Managed in-game only, Galaxy cannot change that title’s language. Start the game and use its launcher or its own Settings/Language menu instead. Some games expose a separate Additional executables → Language setup utility.

How do I change a game’s language in GOG Galaxy?
The standard Galaxy route is the same for most supported titles:
- Open GOG Galaxy and go to Owned games or your library.
- Select the game you want to configure.
- Click the customization/settings button immediately beside Play.
- Choose Manage Installation.
- Select Configure….
- Open the Language selector.
- Choose the language and click OK.
Galaxy then applies the selected configuration. When a title stores localizations in separate packages, the client downloads the required language files; the download size depends on that game’s packaging.

You can open the same management menu by right-clicking the game in your library and selecting Manage Installation.
Why is the language option greyed out in GOG Galaxy?
A greyed-out field labeled Managed in-game only means the game, not Galaxy, controls language selection. Launch the title and look for a language choice in its launcher or in an in-game path such as Settings → Language.
This message is not an installation error and changing Galaxy’s interface language will not override it. The exact menu name and whether a restart is required are determined by the individual game.
What if the game has a separate language setup tool?
Some GOG titles include their own configuration executable rather than a language selector in Galaxy.
- Open the game’s page in Galaxy.
- Click the customization/settings button beside Play.
- Choose Manage Installation.
- Open Additional executables.
- Run Language setup, then select the language offered by that utility.
If Language setup is not listed, use the game’s launcher or in-game settings. A title can support one route, several routes, or no post-install switching at all.
How do I install a GOG game in another language without Galaxy?
Offline installers provide several language-selection points. Use the one that matches how you obtained the installer.

Choose the language in the installer
Start the offline setup program. Before installation begins, open Options in the lower-left corner and choose the available language. Continue the installation after confirming the selection.
Choose the language from your GOG account library
In your GOG account library, select a language from the download dropdown before downloading the setup files. The downloaded installer package will correspond to that choice when the title offers language-specific downloads.
Change it after installation
Open the installed game directory and look for Language_setup.exe. Run it and choose from the languages that utility provides. Not every game includes this file, so its absence does not indicate a damaged installation.
Which language-changing method should I use?
The right method depends on where the title exposes its setting and how its localization files are packaged.

Will changing the language download the whole game again?
There is no single download rule for every GOG title. GOG’s packaging documentation describes two broad models.
Separate language builds
Galaxy or the offline installer offers language-specific packages. Selecting another language downloads that package. With an offline installation, switching is limited if the alternative package was never downloaded or installed.

One package containing all languages
Some games ship all localization files together and use Galaxy’s language detection support. The initial download is larger, but Galaxy can switch among the included languages while offline.
The game’s product page is the reliable place to check supported languages and package availability before changing the setting. A language entry can refer to text, voices, or both; the game’s own options determine which components actually change.

Sometimes, but you should not assume that a language selection changes both. A title may provide translated menus and subtitles while retaining its original voice track, or it may offer separate audio choices inside its own settings.
Check the game’s product page for the languages it lists and then inspect the in-game audio, subtitles, and interface controls. Galaxy’s language selector cannot create an audio track that the title does not package.
How can I check language support before installing?
Open the individual game’s GOG product page and review its supported-language information. Availability varies by title, edition, and the components the developer supplied.
- Confirm that the target language is listed before starting a download.
- Look for separate text, interface, subtitle, or voice indications where the title provides them.
- Prefer the title’s own launcher or documentation when Galaxy shows a generic or incomplete label.
- If you plan to play offline, determine whether the game uses separate language builds or includes all localization files in one package.
What should I do if the selected language does not appear?
Work through the route that matches the symptom rather than repeatedly changing the Galaxy client language.

The language is not listed
Check the game’s product page. The title may not support that language, or support may be limited to a particular component such as text or subtitles.
The selector is disabled
Look for the Managed in-game only notice and change the setting from the game’s launcher or in-game menu.
Galaxy has no selector but offers extra tools
Open Manage Installation → Additional executables and check for Language setup.
An offline installation has no language utility
Use the installer’s Options menu or select a language from the account-library download dropdown before obtaining the setup files. If none of these locations offers the language, the title may require a different edition or may not support it.
What happens to saved games and achievements?
Language selection is an installation or configuration change, not a new game profile. In most cases, your saves and Galaxy achievements remain associated with the same title, but save-file behavior is ultimately defined by the game. Before changing a major installation, keep a backup of important saves if the title stores them outside a cloud-synchronized location.

Yes, provided the title still exposes the original language and its files are available. Use the same Galaxy, in-game, language-setup, or offline-installer route and select the previous language. With separate language builds, switching back can require another download; with an all-languages package, the files may already be present.

Does Galaxy’s interface language control my games?
No. Galaxy’s application language and an individual game’s language are separate settings. Changing the client’s menus does not force every installed game to use that language, especially for titles marked Managed in-game only.

Does GOG Galaxy remember my language choice after an update?
The selected configuration is associated with that installation, but an update can add, replace, or remove language packages according to the title’s installer. If the game returns to another language, check its Galaxy configuration and in-game menu again.
Can I use a language that is not shown on the game’s product page?
Not through the official Galaxy or offline-installer controls. An unlisted language is not an officially packaged option for that title, so third-party modifications would be game-specific and unsupported by the documented GOG workflow.
Why is my download larger after selecting another language?
The title may use separate localization packages or include several language files in one build. Galaxy downloads whichever package model the developer supplied; the client does not use one fixed language-pack size for all games.
Will changing language work while Galaxy is offline?
