In the original PC version of Assetto Corsa, the reported default camera keys are F1 for cockpit, F2 for automatic, F3 for TV or trackside, F5 for exterior free camera, and F6 to cycle onboard cameras. If a key does nothing, check your keyboard’s Fn or function-lock mode and the active camera binding in the game’s controls.
Change camera view with the keyboard
Start a driving session or replay, then press the key for the view you want. These are reported defaults for the original PC game, not a guaranteed map for every edition or customized setup.
| Key | Reported view |
|---|---|
| F1 | Cockpit or driver view |
| F2 | Automatic camera |
| F3 | TV or trackside views |
| F5 | Exterior free camera |
| F6 | Cycles onboard cameras |
The list is reported in CarCody’s PC camera-view guide. Because controls can differ by configuration, the binding displayed in your own installation is the best guide if a shortcut does not work.
If a camera key does nothing
- Check the keyboard layer. On a laptop or compact keyboard, F1–F6 may require holding Fn or changing the function-lock setting so the keys send function commands rather than media or device actions.
- Check the active binding. Open the game’s controls and look for the camera or view command. Confirm it is assigned to the device you are using; a customized setup may use different keys.
- Confirm the context. Try the command during a driving session or replay, where you can see whether the view changes.
Bind Change Camera to a wheel button
If you already use a racing wheel, assigning the camera command to a physical button can make view switching easier without reaching for the keyboard. A Steam Community discussion describes this Content Manager path: Settings > Assetto Corsa > Controls > Buttons. Find the camera-change command and assign the wheel button you want. Content Manager is a separate launcher and interface, so labels or menu placement may vary by version; use the control binding shown in your setup as the authority. Changing the view is not the same as moving the cockpit camera
Camera keys select another available viewpoint. If you mean that the dashboard or cockpit framing is too high, low, or far away, that is a position adjustment rather than a view switch. Assetto Corsa Japan LABS describes dash_cam.ini as a car-specific configuration for dashboard camera position and exposure. It may be in a car’s data directory or contained in its data.acd archive, so this is an advanced configuration task—not a universal keyboard shortcut or a necessary step for changing views. See the Assetto Corsa Japan LABS reference for dash_cam.ini.
Keep the shortcut list in scope
These keys refer to the original PC game’s reported defaults. Do not assume the same mapping applies to Assetto Corsa Competizione or to a separate spectator or broadcast utility. For example, PitLane Systems documents F1 cockpit, F2 chase, F3 track cams, and F5 free cam for its own spectator-camera application; that is not evidence of the base game’s bindings.
