Change Conan Exiles’ day/night timing in the server’s ServerSettings.ini file. Stop the server, edit the time-of-day values in the [ServerSettings] section, save the file, and restart. Use DayCycleSpeedScale for the whole 24-hour cycle, or adjust DayTimeSpeedScale, NightTimeSpeedScale, and DawnDuskSpeedScale for individual parts of the cycle. Because defaults and real-time durations differ between server builds, record the values already in your file and test one change at a time.

Which setting changes day length?
Conan Exiles controls its in-game clock through four multipliers in ServerSettings.ini. The values are read under the [ServerSettings] heading. A higher multiplier makes that part of the clock run faster, so the segment occupies less real time. A lower multiplier makes it run more slowly and lengthens it.

DayCycleSpeedScale is applied in addition to the segment multipliers. In practical terms, changing both the master and a segment value at once can make the result difficult to predict. For a controlled adjustment, use the master setting or the segment settings, not both at the same time.

ConanSandbox/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/ServerSettings.ini
The exact location can vary with the server build, installation method, and hosting company. Search for ServerSettings.ini inside the ConanSandbox saved-configuration directory if the displayed path does not exist. Confirm that you are editing the live server’s file rather than a local client configuration.
Hosted-server control panel
Most game-server hosts expose configuration files through a file manager or configuration-files panel. The usual sequence is to stop the server, open the file manager, navigate to the ConanSandbox saved configuration, select ServerSettings.ini, edit it, save it, and restart the server. Panel labels differ, so use the host’s file editor rather than assuming that a similarly named local file is active.
Back up before editing
- Stop the server completely and wait until the control panel reports that it is offline.
- Download or copy the current
ServerSettings.inibefore making changes. - Note the existing values for all four time settings. Community references disagree about defaults, so your file is the authoritative starting point for your installation.

- Stop the Conan Exiles server.
- Open
ServerSettings.ini. - Locate the
[ServerSettings]section. If the section exists but the key is missing, add the key within that section. - Set
DayCycleSpeedScaleto the desired multiplier, preserving the format used by the file. For example:DayCycleSpeedScale=0.500000. - Save the file without changing unrelated settings.
- Start or restart the server and observe at least one in-game transition before making another edit.
A value below 1 slows the overall clock; a value above 1 speeds it up. The exact real-time result is not officially specified and can vary by server build, so treat the number as a speed multiplier rather than a guaranteed minutes-per-day conversion.
Adjust day, night, and transitions independently
Make daytime longer or shorter
Change DayTimeSpeedScale when daylight is the only part you want to alter. Increasing it makes the daytime segment pass more quickly and therefore shortens the playable daylight window. Decreasing it extends daylight. Daytime is described in community settings references as roughly 07:00 through 16:59 in in-game time.
Example:

DayTimeSpeedScale=0.750000This example is a targeted daytime adjustment, not a universal default or a promise of a specific number of real-world minutes.
Make nights longer or shorter
Change NightTimeSpeedScale to control darkness independently. A value above 1 makes night pass faster and shortens it; a value below 1 slows night and lengthens it. Community references describe nighttime as roughly 19:00 through 04:59 in in-game time.

A commonly published configuration keeps the master cycle at 1.0 and sets the night multiplier to 2.0:

NightTimeSpeedScale=2.000000That is a popular community tweak, not a confirmed default. If you use it, leave the other segment values at the values already present in your file unless you have a separate reason to change them.

DawnDuskSpeedScale affects the transition periods rather than the main daylight and nighttime blocks. Increase it to move through dawn and dusk faster; decrease it to make those transitions last longer. A user report noted that dawn and dusk may count toward the night portion when measuring real time, so include the transitions when timing your own server.
Recommended editing procedures
Procedure A: one multiplier for a slower or faster world
- Write down the current values of
DayCycleSpeedScale,DayTimeSpeedScale,NightTimeSpeedScale, andDawnDuskSpeedScale. - Change only
DayCycleSpeedScale. - Restart the server.
- Use a consistent in-game reference, such as the time shown after sunrise, to compare the result.
- If the change is too strong, return to the backup or adjust the master value once more.
Procedure B: longer nights without changing daytime
- Keep the existing
DayCycleSpeedScaleunchanged. - Lower only
NightTimeSpeedScale. - Leave
DayTimeSpeedScaleandDawnDuskSpeedScaleuntouched. - Save, restart, and observe a complete night.
- Restore the previous value if server events, thralls, or player routines become inconveniently out of sync.
Procedure C: shorter nights for a casual or building-focused server
- Keep the master cycle at its current value.
- Raise only
NightTimeSpeedScale, for example from the value already in the file to 2.0. - Restart and verify that the night transition behaves as expected.
- Do not raise the master multiplier in the same test; otherwise you will not know which setting caused the change.
What values should you use?
There is no single verified universal default. Most recent community multiplier references list all four time-of-day values as 1.0, while an older community default file shows DayCycleSpeedScale=10.000000. A German community forum describes a 0.0–2.0 range with a default of 1, but that is not an official Funcom specification. Check your own file first and preserve its numeric style.

Changes the transition without deliberately altering the main segments |
Use modest increments rather than jumping between extremes. For example, change 1.0 to 0.8 or 1.2, test, and then decide whether a second adjustment is justified. The server may accept decimal values, but follow the precision and spelling already used in the file.

Published community estimates conflict. One Steam guide estimates a default daytime of about 15 real-time minutes and a nighttime of about 10 minutes. A hosting guide describes a default full cycle of about one real-time hour at a speed of 1.0. A German forum user reported that DayCycleSpeedScale=0.5 with the three segment multipliers at 1.0 produced a roughly 60-minute day and a 10-minute night, while also noting that dawn and dusk seemed to count toward night.
These reports are user observations, not an official Funcom timing specification. They may reflect different game versions, server configurations, measurement methods, or interpretations of when a segment begins and ends. If precise timing matters for an event schedule, measure your own server after each change.
A practical timing test
- Choose a recognizable in-game event, such as the start of sunrise.
- Record the real-world time and the in-game clock.
- Record the next occurrence of the same event, using the same observation method.
- Repeat once to rule out a missed transition.
- Change one multiplier, restart, and repeat the measurement.
This gives you a server-specific baseline without assuming that a community estimate applies to your build.

Why a change may appear not to work
The server was still running
Many hosts overwrite or ignore edits made while the process is active. Stop the server before editing, save the file, and restart it. If the panel has separate “save” and “restart” controls, use both and wait for the process to come back online.

The key is outside [ServerSettings]
Move the time setting into the [ServerSettings] section. A correctly spelled key in another section may not be read. Avoid duplicate copies of the same key; remove or correct the unintended duplicate so only the value you mean to use remains.
You edited the wrong file
Verify the path used by the active server instance. The commonly reported Windows path is ConanSandbox/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/ServerSettings.ini, but a host may expose the same file through a panel with a different virtual path. Confirm the file timestamp or download the file again after restarting to see whether the server preserved your edit.
Several multipliers were changed together
Because the master multiplier and segment multipliers interact, changing several at once makes diagnosis difficult. Restore the backup, select one control, restart, and test. Once the result is understood, make the next single change.
The number was treated as a duration
These settings are speed multipliers, not “minutes” fields. A larger number does not mean a longer day; it means faster progression and a shorter segment. A smaller number slows progression and lengthens the segment.

Defaults and real-time durations are not confirmed consistently across community sources. If your measured result differs from an online example, rely on your file and your own timing test rather than forcing the server to match an estimate.
Safe configuration checklist
- Stop the server before opening the configuration.
- Back up
ServerSettings.ini. - Confirm the active file and the
[ServerSettings]section. - Record existing values before changing them.
- Change one multiplier at a time.
- Use higher values for faster, shorter segments and lower values for slower, longer segments.
- Save the file, restart the server, and test in game.
- Measure a complete transition if exact real-time length matters.
- Restore the backup if the result is unexpected or other settings were accidentally altered.
Bottom line for server administrators
Edit the active ServerSettings.ini under [ServerSettings], stop and restart the server, and begin with a single multiplier. Use DayCycleSpeedScale for a proportional whole-cycle change; use the day, night, or dawn/dusk keys when only one segment needs adjustment. Since neither official default values nor exact universal durations are established, the value already in your file and a short in-game timing test are the most reliable guides for your server.
