To change how your avatar moves, open the Roblox menu while you are in an experience, select Settings, then choose an option under Movement Mode if one is available. The choices depend on your input device and the experience; if the setting is missing or developer-controlled, you may not be able to change it yourself.
Change movement mode in an experience
- Join the Roblox experience where you want to adjust movement.
- Open the in-experience Roblox menu and select Settings. Roblox’s Experience Settings and Help page explains that settings are adjusted from this menu.
- Look for Movement Mode. If it appears, select it and choose one of the options shown for your device.
- Return to the game and try moving to check that the controls feel right.
What movement modes might appear?
The available labels depend on whether you are using computer input or touch. Roblox’s archived GameSettings.lua implementation documents examples, but it is not a current guarantee of what every experience or client offers.

Why Movement Mode may be missing
An experience developer can override movement settings, in which case the player-facing selector may be hidden. If there is no Movement Mode option, check that experience’s Help menu for controls and device instructions. Roblox says the in-experience Help menu includes keyboard shortcuts, mouse instructions, and mobile gestures.

Movement mode is not camera mode
Movement mode changes how you direct your avatar. Camera mode controls how the view follows or frames the character. Roblox documents the camera choices Classic and Follow, subject to whether the experience developer has locked the camera; changing camera settings will not reveal a movement selector that the experience does not expose.
