To change settings for the Roblox experience you are playing, open its menu, select Settings, make your changes, then choose Resume or press Esc to return. Graphics, camera, volume, and accessibility controls are in this in-experience menu. Privacy, chat, and parental controls are managed separately in account settings.
Change settings while playing a Roblox experience
- Open the experience menu: click the Roblox logo in the upper-left corner, or press Esc.
- Select Settings. The menu includes controls such as volume, camera, graphics, and accessibility. Which controls appear can depend on the experience.
- Adjust the control you need. For graphics quality, see the next section.
- Return to the experience: choose Resume or press Esc.
Roblox’s In-experience Settings and Help page describes these controls. Camera mode can be switched between Classic and Follow only if the experience developer has not locked it. Classic stays fixed unless you adjust it manually; Follow rotates with your avatar as it moves.
Adjust Roblox graphics quality
- Open the experience menu and select Settings.
- Find Graphics Mode.
- Choose Automatic to let your device control graphics quality, or choose Manual to use the Graphics Quality slider.
- In Manual mode, move the slider right to favor visual quality or left to favor performance.
This setting is a quality-versus-performance tradeoff, not a guaranteed frame-rate fix. Roblox’s Graphics Quality instructions do not predict results for specific devices.
Find privacy, visibility, and chat settings
These are account settings, not controls in the active experience’s Settings tab. On desktop, start with the gear icon; on mobile, select More → Settings.

- Experience chat: go to Privacy & content restrictions → Communication → Experience chat. Access depends on an age check; specified age groups require parental consent, and regional restrictions may apply. See Experience Chat.
Manage a child’s Roblox settings
A parent must have a Roblox account with parent privileges linked to the child’s account to manage supported controls. Depending on the child’s age, available options can include content maturity, allowed or blocked games, communication, and screen time. Some controls move to the teen at age 13 and older, according to Roblox’s parental controls FAQ.
Set a child’s screen-time limit
- From the linked parent account, open Settings → Parental Controls.
- Select the child’s account, then choose Screen time → Manage → Screen time limit.
- Select the daily limit.
Roblox also documents a route for users aged 13 or older: Privacy & content restrictions → Screen time. See Roblox parental controls and screen time.

Why a setting may be missing
- The experience does not offer that control: Developers determine whether features such as chat, voice chat, inventory, leaderboard, and emotes are available in an experience. Roblox says Report Abuse is always available in the hamburger menu. See Experience Menu and Settings.
- Your account is not eligible for an account-level option: Age, region, age-check status, or consent requirements can affect access to visibility and chat settings.
- You are managing a child’s account: Parent linking and the child’s age affect which controls a parent can change.
