In-game match replays are different: Blizzard’s documented VideoPath setting applies to highlight video exports, not replay data.
Change the save folder for exported highlight videos on Windows
Blizzard’s instructions change where Overwatch saves exported highlight videos. The procedure is documented for Windows; the cited support article does not give a console equivalent.

- Close Overwatch 2 completely.
- Press the Windows key, type
%Documents%, and open the Documents location. This uses Windows’ configured Documents folder, which may not be on the C: drive. - Open
OverwatchSettings, then openSettings_v0.iniin a plain-text editor. File Explorer may hide the.iniextension. - Find the
[MovieExport.1]section. If it is missing, add it. - Under that section, add or edit
VideoPath = "D:\YourFolder". Replace the example with the folder you want to use, and keep the quotation marks. The folder must be a valid destination on your PC. - Save the file and launch Overwatch 2.
These steps follow Blizzard Support’s instructions for changing the Overwatch recorded highlights save location.

An in-game replay lets you review a match using Overwatch’s replay feature. A replay code or a pinned replay is not the same as a video file saved on your computer. Editing VideoPath changes the destination for exported highlight videos; it does not move or archive in-game replay data.

Blizzard’s replay announcement says replays are available for the duration of a patch and reset when a new patch launches. Its announcement also mentions a limit of 10 recent matches, but that is historical documentation, not a verified current limit. See Blizzard’s Overwatch Replays announcement.

If a replay or highlight matters to you, export a highlight video while it is still available and save it to a folder or drive you control. Blizzard support said on March 19, 2025, that highlights from earlier patches are incompatible with newer game versions and cannot be restored; it recommends exporting important items before patching. Changing the export path does not preserve an in-game replay by itself. See the Blizzard forum support response on restoring replays from the last patch.

Blizzard forum support has also distinguished exported highlights from temporary highlights: users can choose where to save or export highlights, but cannot change the location of temporary highlights away from Documents. That response dates to September 10, 2020. See the forum discussion about changing the highlights path.
