You generally cannot check a used graphics card’s complete cheating history: there is no universal GPU history lookup. A game publisher may place a hardware ban on a device, but that is different from a public record tied to the graphics card alone. For Call of Duty, Activision provides a way to check a device’s current hardware-ban status in a Call of Duty title; a clean result does not prove the card was never used for cheating.
Is there a way to check a used GPU’s cheating history?
No general-purpose database or official lookup is established for checking whether an individual graphics card was previously used to cheat. The available checks answer narrower questions: what card is installed, whether a particular publisher currently reports a ban on a device, and whether a card may qualify for warranty coverage. None reconstructs a former owner’s behavior across games.

Activision’s Call of Duty Security and Enforcement Policy warns: “Players should exercise caution when purchasing, borrowing, or using secondhand, shared, or publicly accessible devices.” Its hardware-ban procedure is specific to Call of Duty and checks a device’s current status; it does not say that the GPU alone is the identifier or sole component covered by a ban.

How to check for an active Call of Duty hardware ban
If Call of Duty is the specific concern, Activision says to sign in on the device with an account in good standing and launch a crossplay Call of Duty title. An active hardware ban produces a status notification.
#1 Best Overall
- Axial-tech fans now feature a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure
- 2.5-slot design allows for greater build compatibility while maintaining cooling performance
- 0dB technology lets you enjoy light gaming in relative silence
- Dual BIOS switch lets you toggle between Quiet and Performance BIOS profiles
- Dual ball fan bearings last up to twice as long as sleeve bearing designs
- Arrange to test the actual PC or device containing the used GPU, ideally before purchase or during a written return period.
- Sign in to a crossplay Call of Duty title on that device using an account in good standing.
- Check whether the game displays a hardware-ban status notification.
- Record the result and the agreed return terms. Treat the check as a status result for that title and time, not as a history certificate.
A seller-provided screenshot is not as informative as a check performed on the actual device: it may not show which device was tested or when. Even a clean result establishes only that this procedure did not show an active hardware-ban notification then. It does not rule out past cheating, another publisher’s enforcement, or a later enforcement action.
How to verify which graphics card is being sold
Confirming the card’s identity helps ensure the item matches the listing, but it cannot establish how a previous owner used it. AMD’s How To Identify the Manufacturer and Model of an AMD Graphics Card describes checking the card’s physical label and using hardware IDs in Windows Device Manager to identify its manufacturer and model.

- WINDFORCE cooling system
- Ask for the exact board-partner model and clear photos of the card’s label and serial sticker.
- Compare the physical identifiers with the listing and any original packaging or proof of purchase.
- If inspecting the installed card in Windows, use Device Manager hardware IDs as an identity check—not as a cheating or ban-history lookup.
A matching label, model, serial number, or device ID confirms neither a clean enforcement record nor the card’s past use.
Keep ban status, anti-cheat monitoring, and warranty separate
Publisher ban status
Activision’s procedure concerns current hardware-ban status in a Call of Duty context. It is not a universal check, and the policy does not establish a GPU-only ban record. Other games and publishers may use different systems; the cited procedure says nothing about their status checks.

Anti-cheat monitoring
Activision’s RICOCHET Anti-Cheat: Call of Duty’s Anti-Cheat Initiative describes a PC kernel-level driver that monitors applications attempting to interact with protected Call of Duty titles. That is a description of anti-cheat operation while a game runs, not a buyer-facing tool for reviewing a used card’s past.
Warranty coverage
Warranty eligibility is separate from cheating history. NVIDIA’s cited GeForce Graphics Cards Warranty page is for the United States and says coverage applies to qualifying new purchases, not to a person acquiring the product used. Check the exact card maker’s terms for the product, region, and purchase circumstances; a warranty result does not indicate whether a former owner cheated.

What to ask before buying
- Which exact card model and serial number are included?
- Can the seller show the card’s label and provide any original proof of purchase?
- Was the card or the whole PC previously used with the game you are concerned about?
- Can you test the actual device in that game before purchase, or during a return period?
- Are the return conditions written down in the listing or transaction agreement?
If the seller cannot allow the relevant device check and the risk matters to you, prioritize a seller with clear written return terms. No cited source supports treating a third-party tool as certification of a GPU’s cheating history.
