Which platforms is GTA 6 listed for?
Rockstar’s official platform and editions page lists Grand Theft Auto VI for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The company’s August 27, 2026 announcement gives November 19, 2026 as the release date for those platforms. Both are future dates as of October 9, 2026, the date of this status check. See Rockstar’s platform, edition, and version information and its August 27 announcement.

The official pages reviewed here do not list a PC version. That makes PC availability unconfirmed by these sources; it does not establish whether Rockstar will or will not release a PC version later. Check Rockstar’s official GTA VI site for any later platform announcement rather than relying on an unverified listing or prediction.
When you compare listings, match the full platform name rather than assuming that any PlayStation or Xbox version will work on your device. The currently named versions are PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The official information cited here does not list a version for older consoles, so a store result or third-party page naming a different console should not be treated as confirmation that Rockstar supports it. If your console is not one of the two listed, check Rockstar’s current platform page for an explicit update before placing an order.

How to check availability for your console and country
A game appearing in an announcement or on a global product page does not necessarily mean it can be bought or pre-ordered through every local store. Check the console you own, then the storefront associated with your account country. Rockstar identifies PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, and Rockstar Store pre-order routes, and says selected retailers may offer the game in countries where it is available. Its pre-order details page is the official reference for those routes.
- Confirm your console. Check the model name in your console’s system settings or on its packaging. The currently listed versions are for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S; a listing for another console should not be treated as confirmation of a supported version.
- Open the matching store while signed into your account. Use PlayStation Store for a PS5 account or Xbox Store for an Xbox Series X|S account. Make sure the account is set to the country where you intend to buy and redeem the game.
- Search the full title. Search for “Grand Theft Auto VI” in the storefront. Check that the product page names the correct console platform and shows a purchase or pre-order option for your country. A search result, promotional page, or retailer listing by itself does not establish that checkout is available to your account.
- Check Rockstar’s official status pages. Compare the product details with Rockstar’s platform and editions page and pre-order information. The support pages can clarify supported platforms, edition details, and purchase routes.
- Before buying a code, verify its region. For PlayStation, Rockstar says redemption codes are tied to the region of the platform account and recommends buying from a retailer in the account’s country to avoid activation problems. Rockstar says Xbox codes are not region-locked. For a boxed code, check the seller’s listing and the code’s terms before paying.
- Confirm what the product includes. If you want a physical package, check whether the listing is for the Standard Edition and read the format details: Rockstar says its physical Standard Edition package contains a digital download code, not a disc.
If the game is not visible in your local storefront, or the store does not offer a purchase option, do not assume that a listing in another country will work with your account. Check the account country, the product’s platform, and the code region before choosing a different seller or store region.
What counts as a useful availability check?
Use the actual product page for the account you plan to use, not just a search snippet or a headline. The useful signs are that the listing identifies the correct game and supported console, belongs to the storefront for your account country, and offers an action such as pre-order or purchase. If the page is only an announcement, says “coming soon,” or links to a retailer without a checkout option, it has not confirmed that you can buy it through that route.
Availability can mean several different things: Rockstar has announced a version; a store has created a product page; a local storefront accepts a pre-order; or the game has reached release and can be played. Those are not interchangeable. Decide which question you need answered, then check for evidence that matches it. A product page can confirm that a store lists the title, while the release date determines when it is due to become playable.
How to compare the available purchase routes
Rockstar names PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, and Rockstar Store as pre-order paths, and says selected retailers may sell the game in countries where it is available. The right route depends first on your console and account, then on whether you want a digital purchase or a boxed package. Do not assume that every option is offered in every country or that a listing found through a different region will be compatible with your account.
- PlayStation Store: Use it to check the PS5 listing for the country tied to your PlayStation account. If you are buying a code instead of purchasing through the store, confirm that its region matches the account.
- Xbox Store: Use it to check the Xbox Series X|S listing associated with your account. Rockstar says Xbox codes are not region-locked, but the listing still needs to be for the correct game and platform.
- Rockstar Store or a selected retailer: Check the product details, destination country, platform, format, and seller terms. Rockstar’s statement that selected retailers may offer the game in countries where it is available is not a promise that every retailer stocks it or ships to every location.
There is no price or universal country-by-country availability list in the official details cited here. For the current price, taxes, payment options, delivery terms, or local stock, use the product page shown to you at checkout. Compare like with like: a digital store listing and a physical Standard Edition package are different purchase formats, and the physical package described by Rockstar is a code in a box rather than a disc.

Pre-order availability is not the same as being released
Rockstar’s stated release date is November 19, 2026. A storefront may let an eligible customer pre-order before that date, but a pre-order listing does not mean the game is already released and playable. The distinction matters if you are checking whether you can buy it now versus whether you can start playing it now.
Rockstar’s support page says preload begins at local midnight on November 12, 2026. Preload is an advance download window, not a change to the release date: the stated release remains November 19. The two dates and their context appear in Rockstar’s platform support information and release announcement.
In practical terms, the November 12 preload date is relevant if you have an eligible pre-order and want to download ahead of launch. It is not evidence of an earlier public release, and downloading in advance does not change the November 19 date Rockstar has announced. If you are checking on or after the stated release date, verify the live store page and Rockstar’s latest announcement rather than assuming that an older pre-order page reflects the current status.

| Physical Standard Edition package | Rockstar says the package contains a digital download code and no disc. | Rockstar says the package contains a digital download code and no disc. |
These are the two console versions Rockstar currently lists; the table does not imply that every edition or retailer is offered in every market. Rockstar says selected retailers may sell the game in countries where it is available, so consult the local storefront or a retailer in your country for the actual listing and terms.
The comparison does not establish that one console has a different release date, price, or feature set. The official details cited here identify both platforms and the same stated November 19, 2026 release date. If you are choosing between consoles, use your existing hardware and the local store listing as the practical checks; these sources do not provide a basis for comparing performance or other game features.
What the physical package means
“Physical” describes the boxed package, not a disc-based copy: Rockstar says the physical Standard Edition package contains a download code and no disc. You will need to redeem that code and download the game. If your reason for buying a box is to own or use a game disc, the stated package format does not meet that expectation.

For a PlayStation code, match the code’s region to the country or region of the account you will use to redeem it. Rockstar recommends buying from a retailer in that account’s country to avoid activation issues. Rockstar says Xbox codes are not region-locked, but you should still read the seller’s terms and confirm that the product is for the correct Xbox platform before purchasing. These format and redemption details are on Rockstar’s platform and edition page.
Before checkout, read the complete item description rather than relying on a product title or image of a box. Confirm that it is the Standard Edition package, that the seller is offering the platform you own, and that the box includes a code rather than a disc. If you need a disc-based copy, the stated physical format is not what you are looking for. If you are buying a code as a gift, check which account will redeem it and make sure its region is suitable for that account.
If you cannot find a listing or your code will not redeem
The game does not appear in the store
- Check that you are using the storefront for the platform Rockstar lists: PlayStation Store for PS5 or Xbox Store for Xbox Series X|S.
- Confirm that you are signed in with the account country where you plan to make the purchase. Country-specific storefront availability can differ.
- Compare the listing with Rockstar’s current pre-order details. Rockstar says selected retailers may sell the game in countries where it is available; that is not a guarantee that every retailer or country has a listing.
- Recheck Rockstar’s official GTA VI site for announcements, since platform and purchase information may change.
A PlayStation code is rejected
Check whether the code region matches the region of the PlayStation account used for redemption. Rockstar says the regions are tied and recommends buying from a retailer in the account’s country. If the regions match but redemption still fails, consult the code seller and the platform’s support channel; do not assume that a code sold in one country will activate on an account from another.

Check the package description before opening or buying it. Rockstar’s stated physical Standard Edition format is a box containing a digital download code, with no disc. A box alone is not evidence that the game is supplied on physical media.
A pre-order listing appears before release
Check the date on Rockstar’s official page and the storefront. As of October 9, 2026, Rockstar’s stated date is November 19, 2026; a pre-order option does not make the game playable before release. Rockstar’s support page gives November 12 as the local-midnight preload start, which is an advance download rather than an earlier release.
A listing names a different platform
Do not assume a listing for another console is a compatible version. The official platform information cited here lists PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and does not list a PC version. Check Rockstar’s live platform page and the product’s exact platform label. If it names a platform not listed there, wait for Rockstar to confirm that version rather than treating a seller’s page as proof.

A retailer offers a different country’s code
For PlayStation, this can lead to an activation problem because Rockstar ties redemption codes to the platform account’s region. Follow Rockstar’s recommendation to buy from a retailer in the account’s country. Xbox codes are not region-locked according to Rockstar, but still verify the product and seller terms. A low or attractive listing in another market is not useful if it does not match the account or the format you want.

Rockstar’s August 27 announcement says: “Grand Theft Auto VI is coming November 19 to PlayStation 5 and XBOX Series X|S.” The statement is attributed to Rockstar Games, not to an individually named speaker.
