Check the store listing for your exact platform, then compare its offline-mode list with 2K’s current NBA 2K25 server-sunset notice and online-services status table. Those sources distinguish modes playable offline from features that depend on 2K’s servers. NBA 2K25 online services are scheduled through December 31, 2026; online modes and server-dependent features are scheduled to stop working starting January 1, 2027.
How to check a mode before you play
- Identify your platform and generation. Check whether your copy is for PS4 or PS5, Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S, or another platform. Store listings can use different mode names across generations.
- Open that platform’s NBA 2K25 product listing. Find its offline-mode list and look for the mode you want. The Xbox One listing and the US PlayStation Store Standard Edition listing name modes available offline and say other modes or features require an internet connection.
- Check the feature, not just the mode name. A mode listed as offline can contain online-dependent options. Look for words such as “Online,” “multiplayer,” “Online Leagues,” or “community sharing”; those describe server-dependent features.
- Check 2K’s current status and shutdown notice. The status table identifies offline modes, while the sunset notice explains which services will end and when. Recheck the notice if you are planning to play near or after the scheduled shutdown.
Which NBA 2K25 modes work offline?
2K’s status table lists Play Now, MyNBA/MyLeague/MyGM, 2KU/Learn 2K, MyWNBA, and The W as offline modes. Platform listings use their own wording: the Xbox One and US PlayStation Store descriptions name Play Now, MyNBA, The W, and MyLEAGUE as available offline. MyNBA, MyLeague, and MyLEAGUE are naming differences to check against your platform listing, not a reason to assume that every feature inside a mode works offline.

What changes when NBA 2K25’s online services end?
According to NBA 2K Support’s notice, updated October 2, 2026, NBA 2K25 online services are scheduled through December 31, 2026. Beginning January 1, 2027, multiplayer and online game modes will no longer be accessible; MyCAREER and MyTEAM will no longer be available; and Virtual Currency will no longer be earnable. The notice also says the game is scheduled to cease sale on October 30, 2026.
Existing owners will still be able to redownload the game and play offline modes, according to 2K. That does not preserve server-connected options within offline-listed modes: multiplayer, Online Leagues, community sharing, and other features that require 2K servers will be unavailable after service ends. The scheduled dates can change, so consult 2K’s current notice before relying on them.

Why platform and edition matter
The Xbox evidence cited here is for the Xbox One listing, and the PlayStation evidence is for the US Standard Edition store page. Their descriptions do not establish every platform, region, or edition variation. 2K’s general status table uses MyNBA/MyLeague/MyGM, while store copy may say MyLEAGUE or MyNBA. Use the listing for the specific copy you own or plan to play, and treat 2K’s status table and sunset notice as the source for service availability and shutdown details.
2K’s NBA 2K25 launch announcement describes online features and bonus content—including MyCAREER, MyTEAM, MyNBA, The W Online, and Play Now Online—as requiring an internet connection and an online account; minimum account age varies. This launch statement provides general online-feature guidance, but the current platform listing and 2K service notices are more useful for checking offline availability and the sunset.
