Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →For this combination of MMO simulation, Soulslike combat and Minecraft-style construction, buy an upgradeable desktop aimed at 1080p and 60 frames per second: a modern six-core processor such as the AMD Ryzen 5 5600 or Intel Core i5-12400, 16GB of dual-channel memory, a graphics card around the GeForce RTX 2060, Radeon RX 5600 XT or Intel Arc A580 class with about 6GB of VRAM, and an SSD.
That specification is a practical starting point, not a universal requirement. The title does not identify a particular MMO, so its official system requirements, player-count behavior and anti-cheat or launcher needs must be checked before you order parts. Move to a newer RTX 20-series-or-later or Radeon RX 6000-series-or-later card when ray-traced lighting matters, and spend on CPU, memory or storage according to the bottleneck you actually expect.

The right target for this kind of game
A game that combines an online persistent world, timing-sensitive melee and block-based construction stresses a PC in several different ways. The MMO layer can simulate nearby players, creatures, inventories, physics and server events; Soulslike combat makes uneven frame pacing and input latency noticeable; building games can draw large view distances, transparent blocks, lighting effects and heavily modified worlds.
For a sensible mainstream purchase, set these targets:

- Connectivity: wired Ethernet where possible, or a modern 5GHz/6GHz Wi-Fi connection with the router close enough to avoid packet loss.
This is the buying target, not the minimum needed to launch a game. Minimum specifications generally describe a boot-and-play floor; they do not promise smooth performance in a crowded town, during a raid or while streaming and running voice chat.
Mojang and Microsoft’s current Java Edition guidance illustrates the difference. Their 2026 recommendation for 1080p at 60 fps on the Fancy preset lists 16GB of RAM and a Core i5-12400, Ryzen 5 5600, RTX 2060, RX 5600 XT or Arc A580-class GPU with 6GB of VRAM. A game with a similar building workload is therefore a useful baseline, but the named MMO can still require more CPU or GPU power.

CPU: the part that protects crowded-area frame rates
MMO performance often falls because the processor cannot prepare simulation and draw-call work quickly enough, even when the graphics card is not fully loaded. Player characters, non-player characters, pathfinding, combat events, inventory updates and construction changes all create CPU work. A six-core Ryzen 5 5600 or Core i5-12400 gives a reasonable modern foundation; a newer six-core or eight-core chip is preferable if you expect very large battles, extensive mods or simultaneous recording.
Clock speed alone is not a reliable comparison. Architecture, cache, memory configuration and the game’s ability to use multiple threads matter. A very old eight-core processor can perform worse than a newer six-core model. Look for a desktop chip with a supported motherboard BIOS, an adequate cooler and two-channel memory.
GPU: image quality, resolution and effects
The graphics card determines how much visual quality you can maintain at your chosen resolution. The RTX 2060, RX 5600 XT and Arc A580 class is appropriate for 1080p rasterized play around the 60-fps target in a building-focused workload. More demanding texture packs, higher render distance, a 1440p monitor or heavy post-processing call for a faster card.

- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
GPU usage near 95–100 percent while the CPU has spare headroom usually means the card is the limiter. Lowering resolution, shadows, view distance or effects should then increase frame rate. If those changes barely help while one or two CPU threads remain busy, the processor or the game’s simulation thread is the constraint instead.

VRAM: avoid texture and world-streaming stalls
About 6GB of VRAM matches the cited 1080p recommendation. VRAM stores textures, geometry and render targets; when it fills, the game may stream data across the slower system-memory or storage path, producing hitching rather than merely a lower average frame rate. Choose more than 6GB if you intend to play at 1440p, use high-resolution texture packs, enable ray tracing or keep a large mod collection.
System RAM: 16GB is the practical floor
Sixteen gigabytes is the useful starting point for the game, operating system, browser, voice chat and ordinary mods. Configure it as a matched 2×8GB kit to enable dual-channel bandwidth. A single 16GB module can work, but it leaves performance on the table and should not be the default purchase.
Choose 32GB when you run a heavily modded world, keep large browser sessions open, record or stream, or play an MMO whose launcher and anti-cheat software are memory-heavy. Ray-tracing guidance from Mojang and Microsoft calls for more than 8GB of RAM; that makes 16GB the safer real-world choice, while 32GB adds multitasking margin.
SSD: faster loading, not a guaranteed frame-rate increase
An SSD reduces boot, launcher, world and zone-loading times and makes it easier for a game to stream assets without long pauses. It does not automatically raise average fps once the world is in memory. A 1TB NVMe SSD is a sensible capacity anchor because modern games, patches, shader caches and user-created worlds accumulate quickly. Leave free space for updates rather than filling the drive completely.

Three sensible build levels
Use these tiers as decision points, then verify the specific MMO’s requirements. Prices and component availability vary by country and date, so the table describes capability rather than a fixed shopping list.
| Tier | Target | CPU | GPU and VRAM | Memory | Storage | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1080p baseline | 60 fps, high/Fancy-style raster settings | Ryzen 5 5600 or Core i5-12400 class, six cores | RTX 2060, RX 5600 XT or Arc A580 class; about 6GB | 16GB dual-channel | 1TB NVMe SSD recommended | Building, ordinary dungeons and moderate player populations |
| Ray-tracing capable | 1080p with enhanced lighting, using sensible effects settings | Modern six-core equivalent or better | RTX 20-series-or-newer or RX 6000-series-or-newer; more VRAM is preferable | 16GB minimum for a new purchase; 32GB for mods and multitasking | 1TB NVMe SSD or larger | Players who value ray-traced lighting and future graphics options |
| High-headroom upgrade | 1440p, high refresh or unusually crowded MMO scenes | Newer six- or eight-core desktop CPU | A current performance-tier card with at least 8GB VRAM | 32GB dual-channel | 1–2TB NVMe SSD | Large raids, recording, extensive mods or a 1440p monitor |
The baseline is intentionally balanced. Spending on a much faster GPU while pairing it with an old, low-clocked processor can leave crowded areas stuttering. Conversely, buying a top-end CPU with an entry-level GPU will not make high-resolution lighting smooth.
When ray tracing is worth the extra hardware
Ray tracing can improve shadows, reflections and global illumination, but it is not required for block construction or online combat. Mojang and Microsoft’s current support guidance places ray tracing on RTX 20-series-or-newer or Radeon RX 6000-series-or-newer hardware, with a Core i5-equivalent processor and more than 8GB of RAM. Treat those as enablement conditions, not a promise of a particular frame rate.
Choose the ray-tracing tier if lighting quality is a central reason you play and you accept lowering other settings or using a resolution-scaling mode. If competitive responsiveness and a locked 60 fps matter more, a strong raster card without ray tracing is often the better allocation. Check whether the MMO supports ray tracing natively; a GPU cannot add an effect the game does not implement.

Do not confuse reference games with the unnamed MMO
The available examples show how widely requirements can vary. Minescape lists 4GB of RAM, 2GB of storage and Java 17 as minimums. Those figures describe a launch floor and are not a recommendation for a modern MMO session.

Ashen’s 2018 recommended specification calls for a Core i5 at 3.5GHz or an AMD FX six-core, 8GB of RAM, a GTX 970 or R9 290X with 4GB of VRAM and 15GB of storage. Minecraft Legends lists a 2022 recommended Core i5 3.4GHz-equivalent, 8GB of RAM, a GTX 1060 or Radeon RX 580, DirectX 12 and 24GB of storage. These are useful comparison points for action combat and building-adjacent graphics, but neither establishes the requirements of the MMO in the title.
Before buying, identify the exact game, edition and operating system. A Java-based client, a Windows-only launcher, an MMO with a large shared hub and a game designed for consoles can have very different limits.
Validate the named MMO before you buy
- Open the developer or publisher’s official requirements page. Record minimum and recommended CPU, GPU, RAM, VRAM, storage, operating-system version and API such as DirectX 12.
- Check the date and edition. Requirements can change after a major engine update, expansion, ray-tracing patch or launcher migration. Confirm that the page applies to the current PC build, not a beta or console release.
- Compare the processor requirement first. If the game specifies a newer eight-core chip or a high-end desktop CPU, move above the baseline even if its listed GPU is modest; MMO simulation can be the limiting factor.
- Compare graphics memory, not just the GPU name. A card with a similar model number but less VRAM can hitch with large textures or view distances.
- Look for online-service requirements. Check whether the game requires a particular launcher, background anti-cheat, voice service, account link or always-online connection.
- Allow headroom. Treat the official recommended tier as the minimum comfortable buying target, then add capacity for patches, mods, recording and background applications.
If the official page is ambiguous, search the game’s support documentation for known issues with integrated graphics, older driver branches, Windows versions and Wi-Fi. Do not infer network behavior from the graphics specification.
Network and platform details that affect an MMO
A powerful PC cannot repair a poor route to the game server. Ethernet is the most predictable option. For Wi-Fi, use a modern 5GHz or 6GHz network, avoid placing the PC behind dense walls or inside a cabinet, and test from the same room and time of day in which you play. High ping, jitter and packet loss can make a parry or dodge feel late even when the local frame rate is 60 fps.
Use the motherboard’s wired network port or a reputable adapter with current drivers. If the game offers a server-region selector, choose the geographically closest region that supports your friends or guild. A VPN, mesh node or powerline adapter can alter latency; evaluate it by measuring in the game rather than assuming a faster internet plan will help.

Inspect a prebuilt or used desktop carefully
A listing that says “gaming PC” does not guarantee the balanced specification above. Before paying, request the exact model numbers and verify:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors- CPU model and whether it is a desktop part with the expected core count.
- GPU model, VRAM capacity and video outputs.
- Two memory modules, total capacity and memory speed.
- SSD type and usable capacity; confirm that an SSD, not only a hard disk, holds the game.
- Power-supply brand, wattage, efficiency certification and available PCIe power connectors.
- Motherboard socket, spare memory slots, M.2 slots and case clearance for a future GPU.
- Cooling: at least one front or bottom intake and one rear or top exhaust, with no blocked filters.
- Windows activation, driver support and the seller’s return policy.
For a used system, ask for a screenshot of the CPU, GPU, memory and storage identifiers, then check temperatures and stability under a game or an accepted stress test. A worn power supply or an unventilated case can turn an apparently good specification into throttling and crashes.
Plan upgrades around the bottleneck
Upgrade the GPU first when image quality is the problem
If the game runs smoothly in crowded areas but the GPU is saturated at your chosen resolution, upgrade the graphics card. More VRAM helps with high-resolution textures, long view distances and ray tracing. Check power-supply capacity, connector type and case length before selecting a replacement.
Upgrade the CPU first when towns and raids stutter
If lowering resolution barely changes frame rate and one or more CPU threads remain heavily loaded, the processor is limiting simulation. A newer CPU on the same socket may be possible, but confirm motherboard BIOS support and cooler compatibility. A platform change can require new memory as well as a new board.
Upgrade RAM when the system is paging
Frequent disk activity, delayed tab switching, launcher errors or hitching after opening browsers, streaming software and mods indicate memory pressure. Move from 16GB to 32GB using a matched kit supported by the motherboard. More RAM does not compensate for a weak GPU, but it prevents the operating system from constantly moving data to storage.
Upgrade storage when capacity and loading are the pain points
An SSD upgrade is appropriate when the game shares a nearly full drive with the operating system or when world and zone loads are slow. Clone or reinstall with adequate free space, keep the old drive until the new installation is verified, and maintain backups of saves and configuration files. Storage speed should not be marketed as a guaranteed fps upgrade.
Settings to tune after installation
- Install current motherboard and graphics drivers from the hardware manufacturer, then reboot before benchmarking.
- Enable the memory profile in firmware (such as XMP or EXPO) if the kit and motherboard support it; verify stability afterward.
- Start at 1080p and a 60-fps cap. A cap can improve frame-time consistency and leave network, CPU and GPU headroom.
- Adjust view distance and simulation distance separately. View distance primarily affects rendering; simulation distance can be especially expensive in a building world.
- Lower shadows, volumetric effects and ray tracing before textures when VRAM is sufficient. Keep textures high if the card has room, because their visual benefit is often larger than a small shadow-quality change.
- Test a crowded hub and an empty building area. Record average fps and 1% low behavior in both; a single quiet scene cannot represent MMO performance.
- Watch temperatures, clocks, RAM use, VRAM use and network latency. Throttling, memory exhaustion and packet loss require different fixes.
Common buying mistakes and their fixes
- Buying to the minimum specification: minimums may only guarantee launch and omit features or smoothness. Use the recommended tier as the starting point.
- Choosing a single 16GB memory stick: buy a matched two-stick kit for dual-channel operation.
- Ignoring VRAM: verify the actual capacity, especially when comparing similarly named cards.
- Putting the game on a hard disk: install it on an SSD and reserve free space for updates.
- Overbuying ray tracing: pay for it only if the game supports it and enhanced lighting is important to you.
- Forgetting the power supply: a graphics upgrade can exceed the original unit’s wattage or connector capacity.
- Assuming internet speed equals low latency: test ping, jitter and packet loss to the actual game region.
- Ignoring the exact MMO: this profile is not a substitute for that game’s official requirements; validate the title before finalizing the parts list.
A practical purchasing checklist
Before checkout, the configuration should answer “yes” to each applicable item:
- Is the target 1080p/60, 1440p, or high-refresh play stated explicitly?
- Does the CPU meet or exceed a Ryzen 5 5600/Core i5-12400-class baseline for a 1080p build?
- Does the GPU provide about 6GB of VRAM for the baseline, or more for ray tracing, 1440p and large texture packs?
- Is there 16GB of dual-channel RAM, with a clear path to 32GB?
- Is the game installed on an SSD with room for patches and worlds?
- Can the power supply and case support the intended graphics card?
- Are Ethernet or reliable 5GHz/6GHz Wi-Fi available where the PC will be used?
- Have the MMO’s current official requirements and launcher constraints been checked?
For most readers, the balanced six-core/16GB/6GB-VRAM SSD desktop remains the sensible answer. Add CPU, GPU, memory or storage headroom only for a specific need—crowded MMO simulation, higher resolution, ray-traced lighting, extensive mods or large installations—rather than paying for an unrelated high-end part.
