Start with the lower alternative difficulty preset if you are still learning either game’s systems; the PlayStation Store confirms that an easier preset exists, but it does not publish the preset names or numerical changes. On PS5, keep your usual display and controller defaults at first: no graphics mode, frame-rate option, HDR behavior, remapping menu, vibration setting, or text-size control has been verified for this release. In Brave Dungeon, advance one manageable floor at a time, return to town to recover and improve your party, and use the visible-enemy map to control risk. In Dark Witch’s Story: COMBAT, build a three-character team and plan the entire best-of-three match around Support and Main phases, Syega income, attributes, Team Links, and your 12-medal deck.
What the difficulty choice actually does
The current PlayStation Store listing confirms an alternative preset difficulty that reduces the overall challenge. It does not identify the presets by name, list enemy-stat changes, alter experience or loot rates, or explain whether the choice can be changed later. Select the easier option if you are learning party composition, class changes, dungeon routing, or the medal system. If you already understand those systems and want a tougher first run, use the standard option instead.

Because the published listing does not provide the labels or formulas, do not rely on a guide that claims a particular named mode has a specific percentage modifier unless that information appears in the game itself. Record the label shown on your own copy and treat it as the authoritative wording for your region and version.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsA safe first choice
- From the title screen, open the new-game or game-setup flow.
- When the difficulty presets appear, choose the lower preset if you are unfamiliar with the combat systems.
- Confirm the setting and play far enough to see how quickly enemies defeat your party and how much healing or resource management is required.
- If the game exposes a difficulty option in an in-game settings screen, use that menu to adjust it; if it does not, assume the initial choice is fixed for that save until the game says otherwise.
This approach avoids a false precision problem: the existence of an easier preset is established, while its internal numbers and published names are not.

PS5 settings: use verified options, not assumed console features
The available information verifies the PS5 platform and the in-game alternative difficulty preset. It does not verify a performance or quality graphics mode, a frame-rate selector, an HDR recommendation, DualSense-specific effects, controller remapping, vibration controls, text scaling, or a separate accessibility menu. Do not promise yourself a 60-frame-per-second mode or a particular HDR result simply because the game runs on PS5.
Recommended starting configuration
- Leave the PS5 display resolution, 4K transfer rate, VRR, and HDR at the settings you normally use for other games.
- Use your normal controller layout and vibration preference until the game presents an explicit option.
- Open the game’s own Options or Settings menu and change only controls that are visibly listed there.
- If text is difficult to read, first adjust the television or monitor’s picture mode and viewing distance; do not assume a text-size slider exists until you see one.
- After changing the console display configuration, close and relaunch the game if the picture does not update. This is a general PS5 troubleshooting step, not a claim about a game-specific graphics mode.
What not to infer from the PS5 version
A PS5 release alone does not establish a 4K output, HDR support, a 120-Hz mode, adaptive triggers, haptic feedback, or a frame-rate target. None of those features is documented in the material available for this title. If a menu option appears in your copy, follow the wording and on-screen explanation; otherwise, describe the game as using the ordinary PS5 display and controller configuration.
Brave Dungeon: a floor-by-floor difficulty plan
Brave Dungeon is a dungeon-crawling RPG with turn-based battles, character-specific strengths, class changes, customization, and crafting. Nintendo Life’s review describes five dungeons with a clear overall difficulty curve, but it also notes that the jump between floors can be substantial. Dying carries no penalty, so a failed expedition is useful information rather than a permanent setback.

- Enter with a defined objective. Decide whether the trip is for story progress, experience, enemy materials, or a route check. A party that can survive a few fights may still be unprepared for the next floor’s sustained pressure.
- Fight a small sample of visible enemies. Check how much damage your attacks deal, how quickly your recovery resources disappear, and whether a character is being targeted or defeated repeatedly.
- Stop before the party is depleted. If the floor is consuming healing items or skills faster than expected, retreat rather than treating the next encounter as a mandatory test.
- Return to town. Resupply, spend available Tres on skills, change equipment or classes when appropriate, and convert useful drops into crafted upgrades.
- Re-enter and test the next section. A manageable floor is evidence that your current setup works there; it is not a guarantee that the following floor will be equally forgiving.
The no-penalty death rule makes deliberate scouting sensible. You can use one attempt to learn enemy placement and damage, then make a better route and spend resources with that information.
Use the visible-enemy map to control encounters
Enemies are visible on the map, allowing you to choose between a safer route and a farming route. While learning a floor, route around avoidable encounters and identify the path to the next recovery or objective. Once the route is stable, deliberately select fights that offer useful experience or materials. This is more efficient than either fighting everything automatically or avoiding every battle: enemy drops support crafting and town progression, while unnecessary battles can leave the party weak before a difficult stretch.

Build a three-character party with complementary jobs
The game uses three-character parties and allows character-specific strengths, selectable allies, class changes, and specialization paths. The following is a practical role framework, not a developer-prescribed build:
| Party slot | Job in a first run | What to look for |
|---|---|---|
| Recovery or support | Keep the group functioning through long routes | Reliable healing, protection, resource recovery, or disabling effects |
| Primary damage | Finish ordinary enemies efficiently | Consistent damage that does not depend on a rare condition |
| Technical or flexible slot | Handle resistances, dangerous targets, or unusual encounters | Debuffs, elemental or positional advantages, burst damage, or utility |
When a floor repeatedly defeats one role, do not immediately raise the difficulty or grind without a plan. Try changing the class path, replacing a character whose strengths do not fit the floor, or moving the support role to a character with more dependable recovery. The best party is the one that survives the next floor with enough resources to continue.
Spend Tres deliberately
Skill upgrades are manual and use Tres. Before spending, identify the problem you are trying to solve: ordinary fights taking too many turns, a boss defeating one character, or recovery running out between town visits. Improve the skill that addresses that problem rather than distributing points evenly because it feels safe. A focused upgrade can change the number of turns needed to win, which in turn reduces incoming damage and resource use.
Class changes and specialization
Class changes and specialization paths let you adapt a character rather than treating the starting role as permanent. Make a change when the current floor exposes a clear weakness or when two characters are competing for the same job. Keep at least one dependable source of recovery while experimenting; replacing every stable role at once can make it impossible to tell which change caused a failure.
Crafting and the town loop
Enemy drops feed crafting and town progression. Pick up materials even when you are not yet sure which recipe needs them, then review the crafting options during the next town visit. A useful loop is:

- Scout a floor and fight only enough enemies to learn the threat level.
- Return to town before the party is exhausted.
- Craft the upgrade that improves the weakness you observed, or save materials if no relevant option is available.
- Upgrade the most important skill with Tres.
- Re-enter the floor and compare survival, damage, and resource use with the previous attempt.
This turns failure into a measurable adjustment instead of an invitation to grind blindly.
New Game+ is a separate challenge
Nintendo Life reports a more demanding New Game+ mode. Do not use a New Game+ experience to judge the balance of a first playthrough: it is intended to add pressure after you already understand party roles, routes, crafting, and class development. Finish a normal run and keep your notes on effective roles and troublesome floors before committing to the higher-demand mode.
Dark Witch’s Story: COMBAT: difficulty is deck and match planning
Dark Witch’s Story: COMBAT is a rebuilt turn-based deck-building battler rather than a dungeon-crawl. Gematsu’s 2026 description says you choose three characters from more than 40, play best-of-three one-on-one rounds, divide each turn into Support and Main phases, use a 12-medal deck, and spend Syega Crystals that build each turn. Attributes, Team Links, and signature medals add another layer of planning.
Choose a three-character team for the whole match
A best-of-three match rewards a team that can win different kinds of rounds, not three characters that all perform the same job. Assign each character a reason to be on the roster: a reliable opener, a character that scales when Syega accumulates, a counter to a troublesome attribute, or a finisher that benefits from a Team Link. The exact strongest combination will depend on the medals and characters available in your save, so evaluate the interaction rather than copying a single universal lineup.
Understand Support and Main phases as separate decisions
Use the Support phase to establish the conditions that make your later turn effective: protection, resource preparation, Team Link setup, or other enabling effects. Use the Main phase to convert that setup into pressure, removal, or a round-winning sequence. Spending every resource on immediate Main-phase damage can leave the next turn without the setup needed to win the match; spending only on Support can surrender the current round. Before confirming a turn, ask which phase helps the next character or next round as well as the present exchange.

Manage Syega Crystals over multiple turns
Syega Crystals build each turn and are spent to activate effects. Treat the resource as an increasing opportunity, not as a reason to pass every turn. Save enough for the interaction that secures the round, but avoid hoarding crystals while taking preventable damage. A good turn often has a modest Support investment followed by a Main action that changes the board state; the correct balance depends on the character’s signature medal and your opponent’s attribute.
Build and read the 12-medal deck
A 12-medal deck is small enough that every inclusion affects consistency. Give each medal a clear function:
- Core effects: the actions you want to see in most rounds.
- Enablers: Support or resource effects that make the core effects stronger.
- Answers: tools for an attribute, Team Link, or defensive pattern that otherwise stops your plan.
- Finishers: high-impact effects reserved for a decisive Main phase or final round.
After a loss, identify whether the problem was a missing answer, an awkward draw, or a sequencing mistake. Remove a medal only when you can name the job it failed to perform; replacing cards at random makes it harder to learn the deck.
Use attributes, Team Links, and signature medals together
Attributes should inform both the character selection screen and your in-round decisions. Team Links reward compatible choices, while signature medals give individual characters a reason to occupy a slot. A team with a theoretically favorable attribute can still fail if its medals do not support the link or if the signature effect arrives at the wrong point in the best-of-three series. Check the opponent’s revealed pattern, then decide whether to spend the favorable matchup now or preserve it for the round in which it matters most.
Plan for the best-of-three structure
- Round one: learn the opponent’s attribute, Support habits, and likely resource timing without exposing every finisher.
- Round two: adjust your character order or medal sequencing to attack the weakness you observed.
- Round three: spend the saved high-impact effects and choose the character whose signature medal best fits the remaining matchup.
This is a planning framework, not a rule that every match must be played cautiously. If the opponent presents a clear immediate threat, winning the current round is more valuable than preserving a resource for a hypothetical later one.

- Compatible with Wide Screens - To ensure compatibility with the dual monitor mount, your each monitor must meet three conditions at the same time: First, computer screens size range: 13 to 32 inches. Second, screen weight range: 4.4 to 19.8 lbs. Third, the back of the monitor screen must have VESA mounting holes with a pitch of 75x75mm or 100x100mm.
- Regarding the compatibility with desks - Your desk must meet three conditions at the same time: First, desk material: Only wooden desks are recommended, plastic or glass desks cannot be used. Second, desk thickness range: 0.59" - 3.54". Third, the bottom of the desk should not have any cross beams or panels, as this will interfere with installation. We recommend carefully checking that your desk and monitors meets all above conditions before purchasing.

Built-in cable management guides wires along the arms, keeping cords out of sight and out of the way. Enjoy a tidy, modern workstation that looks as good as it feels to use.
Quest progression and Auto Battle
Quest Mode contains 45 quests, with experience, new characters, medals, skills, higher ranks, special Final-battle rules, and Auto Battle for cleared quests. Play a quest manually the first time so you understand its rules and the Final-battle conditions. Use Auto Battle only for quests you have already cleared and whose outcomes you understand; it is a farming convenience, not a substitute for learning a new opponent or a special Final battle.

A practical first-session checklist
For Brave Dungeon
- Choose the lower alternative preset if you are learning the systems.
- Enter the first unfamiliar floor with a recovery role, a damage role, and a flexible technical role.
- Use visible enemies to bypass unnecessary fights while mapping the route.
- Take selected battles for experience and materials rather than clearing every enemy by habit.
- Return to town before resources are exhausted.
- Spend Tres on the skill that addresses the failure you observed.
- Review crafting, equipment, class changes, and specialization before retrying the next floor.
For Dark Witch’s Story: COMBAT
- Choose three characters whose roles and attributes are not redundant.
- Build a 12-medal deck with core effects, enablers, answers, and finishers.
- Use Support to prepare the turn and Main to convert that preparation into pressure.
- Track Syega Crystal growth instead of spending or hoarding it automatically.
- Account for Team Links and signature medals when assigning characters.
- Play new quests manually, including Final battles with special rules.
- Turn on Auto Battle only after clearing a quest and confirming that the automated result is useful for farming.
Troubleshooting common difficulty problems
“The easier setting still feels hard.”
Verify that you selected the lower preset shown by your copy, then isolate the source of difficulty. In Brave Dungeon, test a manageable floor, retreat, and address party role, skill level, equipment, or crafting before attempting the next jump. In Dark Witch’s Story: COMBAT, inspect the best-of-three plan, medal consistency, and Syega timing rather than assuming the preset controls every tactical situation.
“I cannot tell whether a PS5 display option is supported.”
Look in the game’s own Settings or Options menu and consult the on-screen description. The available documentation does not verify a graphics mode, HDR behavior, frame-rate selector, controller remapping, vibration control, or text-size setting. Keep the console at your normal configuration unless the game explicitly provides a relevant option.
“I keep dying on the next Brave Dungeon floor.”
Use the death with no penalty to gather information. Note which enemy or resource drain caused the failure, route around optional fights on the next attempt, then return to town for a targeted skill, class, equipment, or crafting adjustment. A floor-to-floor difficulty jump reported in the review is a reason to reassess readiness, not evidence that the save is ruined.
“Auto Battle loses fights I can win manually.”
Auto Battle is documented for cleared quests, but clearing a quest does not guarantee that every team order or resource state will produce the same result automatically. Revisit the quest manually, confirm the Final-battle rules, and use Auto Battle only for a stable farming setup rather than for progression or first attempts.
Evidence and version boundaries
The PlayStation Store listing establishes the existence of an easier alternative preset but does not publish its name or numerical effect. Gematsu’s 2026 description identifies Inside System as developer and publisher, lists the PS5 release date as October 24, 2026, and provides the systems and counts for Dark Witch’s Story: COMBAT. Nintendo Life’s 2017 review supplies the practical observations about five dungeons, floor difficulty jumps, visible enemies, no death penalty, three-character parties, Tres, crafting, and New Game+. Menu labels, balance values, and PS5-specific display or controller features can vary by the shipped build and region, so use the text shown in your own game for any option not documented above.
