There is no universally best dragon in Infinity Kingdom. The right choice is the dragon whose element and active skills fit your four-Immortal march and the problem you need to solve. Fire is the clearest damage and PvE choice; Earth is the safest durability-and-control option; Water wins sustained fights through healing; Lightning rewards reliable stuns; Wind supports aggressive physical or energy-focused teams; Shadow suppresses and executes vulnerable targets; and Holy specializes in keeping a march alive.
Start by checking your march’s dominant element, then decide whether you need damage, control, healing, mitigation, or energy support. Same-element bonuses make matching important for elemental Immortals, but Chaos, Holy, and Shadow marches should be judged mainly by the dragon’s active effects because their elemental bonus affinity does not apply.

Start with the march, not the dragon
A dragon is a force multiplier for a four-Immortal march, not a standalone unit that is equally effective with every lineup. The first decision is therefore not “Which dragon is strongest?” but “What does this march already do, and what does it fail to do?”

- Are your front-line Immortals dying before they can use their skills? Consider Earth, Water, or Holy.
- Does the march reliably apply Stun? Lightning can turn that control into burst damage.
- Are you building around physical pressure, accuracy disruption, or fast ultimates? Wind is the most natural fit.
- Do you want silence, attrition, and a finisher? Shadow is the specialist.
For Fire, Water, Earth, Lightning, and Wind Immortals, matching the dragon’s element is the default starting point. GTarcade patch notes describe higher-tier bonuses that activate for friendly Immortals of the same element, with a separate condition for each dragon. Those bonuses make a coherent elemental march more valuable than a random collection of individually attractive skills.

That rule is a starting point rather than an absolute command. A mixed march may benefit more from a dragon that fixes a serious weakness, and Chaos, Holy, and Shadow Immortals do not receive the elemental bonus affinity described for the standard elements. In those cases, select the dragon for its actual healing, control, damage, or mitigation package.

Fire Dragon: the damage and PvE specialist
What Fire actually contributes
Fire is the clearest recommendation when your priority is ending encounters quickly. Its first skill deals heavy area damage to all enemies and applies Burn, adding damage over time after the initial hit. Its second skill increases damage for three random friendly units, giving the whole march a chance to convert the opening attack into a faster finish. The Fire passive increases both physical and magical damage for Fire Immortals.
When to choose Fire
Use Fire for campaign stages, monsters, bosses, and any PvE activity where sustained defensive value matters less than reducing the time to kill. It is also a reasonable choice for a burst PvP march that already has enough protection to survive the opening exchange.
What can go wrong
The 2025 official-forum overview describes Fire as potentially fragile in prolonged PvP. A Fire march that loses its frontline before Burn, area damage, and the team buff can decide the fight has paid for damage it never gets to use. Add enough front-line durability and recovery to let the dragon complete its rotation; do not choose Fire solely because its damage description sounds impressive.
Earth Dragon: the durable all-round choice
Why Earth is the safe default
Earth is the best general-purpose answer when you do not yet know which specialized plan you will commit to. GTarcade’s guide gives Earth the best Physical Defense among the dragons. Its first skill creates periodic stuns, adding control while the march absorbs pressure. Its passive reduces physical and magical damage received by Earth Immortals.
Its physical-versus-magical trade-off
Earth’s second skill lowers allied Magical Damage while increasing Physical Damage. That is valuable for a physical Earth march, but it is not a free improvement for a lineup whose main damage is magical. Check the damage profile of all four Immortals before treating the skill as universally positive.
Who should use Earth
Choose Earth for a first or main march, a roster that needs time to ramp, or a player who values reliable control over peak burst. The 2025 official strategic overview calls Earth the best all-rounder for free-to-play players. That is a strategic opinion from that overview, not a permanent game rule or a measured win-rate result, but it explains why Earth is often the least punishing choice when resources are limited.

Water Dragon: healing and sustained fights
Water’s defensive package
Water is built around keeping the front line active. The official guide describes it as having the best Magical Defense. Its skills heal front-line units, can apply a healing-over-time effect when a health threshold is reached, and can Charm two random enemies. The Water passive improves healing for Water Immortals.
When Water beats a damage dragon
Pick Water when fights last long enough for recovery to matter more than an explosive opening. It is particularly practical in PvP against marches that survive the first exchange and win through repeated skill cycles. Charm also creates a control window, but Water should not be evaluated as a pure crowd-control dragon: its central value is the amount of time its healing lets your Immortals remain functional.

Composition check
Water is strongest when the march has a front line worth healing and enough damage to capitalize on the extra time. If all four Immortals are too fragile to hold position or cannot turn a prolonged fight into a win, healing alone only delays defeat.
Lightning Dragon: burst that depends on Stun
The defining interaction
Lightning is the specialist for a controlled target. The official forum guide states that one Lightning skill deals double damage to Stunned Immortals. That is a direct reason to choose Lightning only when your march can apply Stun consistently rather than occasionally.
Compatible control examples
The guide names Richard I and John Henry as examples of Immortals that fit a Lightning plan. These examples illustrate the requirement: the dragon’s payoff is tied to the status effect, so your Immortals must provide dependable opportunities to hit stunned targets.
Additional strengths and a warning
An older official guide gives Lightning the best Magical Attack and describes a skill that shackles enemies from basic attacks. Those effects can make a control-oriented magical march threatening even before the doubled damage is counted. If Stun uptime is poor, however, you are paying for a conditional multiplier that rarely activates. In that situation, Earth may provide more dependable control or Fire more dependable damage.
Wind Dragon: aggressive physical and energy support
What Wind improves
Wind has the best Physical Attack in the official guide. It periodically damages enemies while reducing their Accuracy, increases allied Magical Damage while reducing Physical Damage, and improves Initial Energy and Energy Recovery Speed for Wind Immortals. This combination supports a march that wants to act early, attack often, and pressure opponents before they can stabilize.
Choosing Wind for the right damage profile
Wind is a natural fit for physical attackers and for teams whose plan depends on reaching skills quickly. Its magical-damage increase and physical-damage reduction also create an unusual mixed profile: the effect can help a magical-leaning lineup, but the reduction is a liability if your own physical damage is doing most of the work. Read the complete march rather than selecting Wind from the Physical Attack label alone.

Resource warning
The 2025 overview warns that Wind can be expensive to develop. Treat accessibility as part of the decision. A theoretically ideal Wind march that remains underdeveloped may perform worse for you than a fully upgraded Earth, Fire, or Water dragon whose role matches your current roster.
Shadow Dragon: suppression and single-target pressure
Shadow’s control sequence
Shadow is designed for a dedicated suppression or assassination plan. Its official guide describes massive single-target damage, continuous HP loss, and silence. Silenced enemies cannot recover energy or use skills, so the dragon attacks both their health and their ability to respond. Shadow can also instantly kill a low-HP target, giving it a potential execution at the end of the sequence.
Recommended pairings and limits
The guide specifically names Elizabeth Báthory and Siegfried as effective pairings. Their inclusion reflects Shadow’s intended use: isolate a target, deny its skills, maintain pressure, and finish it before the opposing march can recover.

Shadow is less flexible than Earth or Water. If your Immortals do not provide reliable control or single-target pressure, silence and execution opportunities may arrive too late. Choose Shadow because your march already supports that sequence, not because an execution description sounds universally powerful.

1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteHoly Dragon: the survivability specialist
What Holy does
The official forum guide says Holy’s skills can heal, reduce damage, and Disarm enemies. Those effects make Holy the most direct choice when the only acceptable outcome is keeping the march alive through incoming damage and disruptive enemy attacks.
When Holy is worth the investment
Use Holy for a composition that already has a clear damage plan but repeatedly loses before it can execute it. Healing and damage reduction extend the march’s operating time, while Disarm can interrupt an opponent’s ability to apply pressure. The later strategic overview describes Holy as a premium option, so account for progression access and spending level before making it your central investment.
How to decide between Fire, Earth, Water, and Lightning
These four are the most common points of comparison because they solve different versions of the same problem: whether your march should end fights faster, survive longer, recover health, or convert control into burst.
| If your priority is… | Start with… | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Fast PvE clears and boss damage | Fire | Area damage, Burn, and a damage buff for three random allies |
| Reliable, low-risk progression | Earth | Best Physical Defense, periodic stuns, and reduced incoming damage for Earth Immortals |
| Winning extended PvP fights | Water | Front-line healing, healing over time, Charm, and improved healing for Water Immortals |
| Stun-enabled burst | Lightning | One skill deals double damage to Stunned Immortals |
Do not treat this as a permanent ranking. Fire can be the correct PvP choice for a protected burst march, Earth can be wrong for a magical-damage lineup because of its second-skill trade-off, Water can be too slow when a fight must be ended immediately, and Lightning can underperform without reliable Stun. The table is a decision shortcut, not a universal tier list.
PvE and PvP choices are different
For PvE
Fire is the clearest first consideration because its area damage and Burn affect every enemy while its second skill improves damage for three random friendly units. Faster kills reduce the time an enemy has to deal damage, which makes Fire’s offensive profile especially useful against monsters and bosses. Earth remains a sensible alternative when a stage’s incoming physical damage is the reason your march fails, while Wind can help an aggressive, energy-focused PvE lineup if its development cost is manageable.
For PvP
PvP rewards a plan that survives the opponent’s response. Earth supplies durability and stuns, Water supplies recovery and Charm, Holy supplies the strongest survivability package, and Shadow attacks the opponent’s ability to cast through silence. Fire remains viable when protected, and Lightning is dangerous when Stun is dependable. The 2025 overview recommends Earth or Water for longer PvP fights, but that is guidance rather than a tested universal ranking.
Element matching, mixed marches, and non-elemental Immortals
Elemental marches
For Fire, Water, Earth, Lightning, and Wind Immortals, matching the dragon to the dominant element is usually the most efficient opening. The high-tier same-element bonuses described in patch notes reward a march that shares the dragon’s element, so the passive value can outweigh a superficially attractive off-element active skill.
Mixed marches
If your four Immortals split between elements, identify the element that supplies most of the march’s damage or the condition your strategy depends on. A mixed march may instead need a neutral solution: Earth for control and mitigation, Water for healing, or Holy for survivability. In that case, explain the loss of a same-element bonus to yourself as the price of solving a larger weakness.

Chaos, Holy, and Shadow
An affinity analysis published by the IK Wiki reports that elemental bonus affinity does not apply to Chaos, Holy, and Shadow Immortals. Universal affinity gifts therefore provide better value for those factions. Select their dragon by active function: Holy for healing and damage reduction, Shadow for silence and execution pressure, or another element when its control or damage profile better serves the march. Do not assume that choosing an identically named faction automatically grants the same bonus available to standard elemental Immortals.
A practical selection procedure
Use this sequence whenever you unlock a dragon or rebuild a march.
- List the four Immortals in the march. Mark each element, damage type, front-line role, and control effect. Do not count a status effect that the Immortal applies only rarely as reliable control.
- Identify the primary activity. Separate PvE clearing, boss or monster damage, short PvP battles, and extended PvP. A dragon that excels in one activity may be inefficient in another.
- Write the march’s failure condition. Examples include “the front line dies first,” “the boss survives too long,” “we cannot finish a stunned target,” or “the opponent casts before us.” This turns a vague preference into a measurable need.
- Check same-element eligibility. For standard elemental Immortals, test the matching dragon first because high-tier same-element bonuses may apply. For Chaos, Holy, and Shadow, skip that assumption and compare active skills.
- Compare the conditional requirement. Lightning needs Stun, Shadow needs a suppression and finishing sequence, and Wind needs a march that benefits from its attack and energy effects. Reject a dragon whose key condition your lineup cannot create.
- Check the trade-off. Fire may need protection, Earth can lower allied Magical Damage, Wind can be expensive to develop, and Holy may require premium access. Include the cost of making the dragon usable, not only its theoretical ceiling.
- Upgrade one primary dragon first. The guide records dragon-skill unlocks at levels 5, 15, and 25. Concentrate Dragon Soul Crystals on the dragon serving your main march before spreading them across alternatives.
- Re-evaluate after the march changes. A new Immortal can create the Stun consistency Lightning needs, change a physical march into a magical one, or remove the frontline weakness that made Water or Holy attractive.
Dragon upgrade priorities and resource discipline
Reach functional skill thresholds
Dragon skills unlock at levels 5, 15, and 25. These milestones create natural checkpoints: first unlock the early utility, then reassess whether the dragon’s actual role is helping your march before committing further resources. Do not distribute Dragon Soul Crystals evenly merely to own several partially functional dragons.
Build around the primary march
Your first investment should serve the march used most often for the activity that matters most to you. A Fire dragon for a PvE-focused account, Earth for a general progression march, Water for sustained PvP, or Lightning for a fully supported Stun team can each be correct. The wrong choice is upgrading a dragon that your main march cannot activate or protect.
Recommended Free Tools
Keep a secondary option only when it solves a distinct problem
A second dragon earns its resources when it covers a genuinely different activity, such as Fire for PvE and Water for long PvP, or Earth for safe progression and Lightning for a Stun-dependent specialist march. A second dragon that merely offers a weaker version of the first one slows every upgrade milestone.
Common selection mistakes
Chasing a universal tier list
No independent benchmark, win-rate dataset, or official universal ranking establishes one dragon as best in every mode. The available recommendations are conditional build guidance. Treating a strategic overview as a permanent ranking ignores element bonuses, Immortal quality, skill levels, and the activity being played.
Ignoring the damage-type trade-off
Earth’s second skill increases Physical Damage while lowering allied Magical Damage. Wind increases allied Magical Damage while reducing Physical Damage. Both can be excellent or awkward depending on the actual attacks in your march. Read the effect against your lineup’s damage distribution.
Picking Lightning without Stun
Lightning’s most visible payoff is double damage against Stunned Immortals. If your team cannot keep targets stunned often enough, that headline effect is inactive for much of the battle. Choose Earth or Fire when you need dependable value without a status condition.

Underestimating access and development cost
Wind is described as expensive to develop, and Holy as a premium option. An accessible dragon at a meaningful skill level is usually more useful than a theoretically perfect specialist that remains underpowered because its development resources are unavailable.
Frequently useful build patterns
Fire PvE march
Use this pattern when the four Immortals are predominantly Fire or when PvE speed is the account’s main goal. Let Fire’s area damage and Burn handle groups while the three-unit damage buff accelerates the march’s strongest attackers. Add enough frontline protection that the dragon can complete its damage cycle.
Earth progression march
Use Earth when you need a dependable first march and your roster can exploit Physical Damage. Its Physical Defense, periodic stuns, and incoming-damage reduction provide value even when the battle does not end quickly. Reconsider if most of your damage is magical because of the second-skill penalty.
Water endurance march
Use Water when your front line is durable enough to receive healing and your damage dealers benefit from a longer fight. Healing, the threshold-based healing-over-time effect, and Charm create time for repeated skill cycles.
Lightning control march
Use Lightning only after confirming that the march can create Stun opportunities reliably. The double-damage interaction is the centerpiece; without it, choose the dragon whose effects function every round rather than conditionally.
Shadow suppression march
Use Shadow with Immortals that can focus one target and exploit silence. The intended sequence is pressure, deny energy recovery and skills, maintain continuous HP loss, and execute a target once its health is low. If the march attacks many targets without focus, Shadow’s single-target strengths are diluted.
What the current evidence can and cannot prove
GTarcade guides and patch notes establish the described skills, element interactions, and unlock milestones. The 2025 official-forum overview adds strategic recommendations: Earth as a solid all-rounder for non-spenders, Fire for PvE, and Earth or Water for longer PvP. Those recommendations are useful context, but they are not a controlled comparison.
