If you pre-ordered Gears of War: E-Day through a qualifying Xbox promotion, open the Microsoft Store app on your Xbox console and go to your gamertag → Profile → Offers & Credits → Active. Redeem the Gears of War offer shown there. A Pure Xbox rollout report says the offer appeared for some accounts and countries, with the Standard Edition and full Premium Edition appearing eligible; the Premium Upgrade was reported as excluded.
The offer is not confirmed as a universal benefit for every buyer. Your country, retailer, storefront, edition, account and pre-order date all matter, and the offer may take time to appear.

These categories are not substitutes for the account-level check. The practical test is whether the offer appears in the Active section of the Microsoft Store profile connected to the qualifying purchase.

Claim the offer on an Xbox console
Use the console procedure reported for the current rollout. Menu wording can vary slightly by system software or account region, but the relevant destination is the profile’s Offers & Credits area.
- Open Microsoft Store. Start the Microsoft Store app on the Xbox console signed in to the account that placed the pre-order.
- Open the left-side menu. The store’s navigation panel contains the account entry.
- Select your gamertag. Choose the gamertag shown for the purchasing account, rather than another household profile.
- Open Profile. This takes you to the account page where Microsoft Store offers and credits are listed.
- Choose Offers & Credits. Do not look only at the general store home page; the reported promotion is surfaced in this profile section.
- Open Active. Look for the Gears of War: E-Day pre-order offer in the Active list.
- Redeem the offer. Select the Gears of War entry and follow the on-screen redemption command. Keep the confirmation screen or transaction record until the credit is visible in the account.
If the offer is present but you leave the page before redeeming it, return to the same path. The claim location reported for this promotion is not a code printed in the game itself; it is an account offer in Microsoft Store.
What the reward is and how long it lasts
Pure Xbox reported the reward as a $5 USD Microsoft Store prepaid card. The reported balance could be used for purchases in the Xbox store and was shown as available until January 11, 2027. That date is the one stated in the rollout report; treat it as the relevant use-by date for this promotion rather than assuming the credit is permanent.

If your account uses another currency, the way Microsoft displays or converts the credit can depend on the account’s market. The available evidence does not establish a single worldwide currency treatment, so do not assume that a $5 USD card will display identically in every region.
This is store credit, not a cash payment. It is intended for eligible Xbox-store purchases attached to the Microsoft account that receives it. The promotion does not establish that the balance can be transferred to another account, withdrawn as cash or exchanged for a retailer refund.

Pre-order deadline and one-per-account rule
The official Xbox Game Studios Shop terms state that the pre-order offer was valid for orders placed before October 6, 2026 at 7:59 a.m. Pacific Time, at participating retailers and while supplies lasted. The terms also set a limit of one offer per person or account.
That deadline is a cutoff for the qualifying pre-order promotion, not a promise that an offer will appear immediately after purchase. A transaction made after the stated time should not be treated as eligible merely because the same edition is still sold. Conversely, an order made before the cutoff can still require an account check because the reported rollout was limited by country and account.
Keep the order date, retailer and account details together. They are the facts you need to distinguish a late purchase from a delayed offer, a non-participating retailer from a qualifying one, or a second claim from the first permitted claim.
Edition, storefront and fulfillment differences
Standard Edition
The Standard Edition was listed among the purchases that appeared eligible in the Pure Xbox report. That wording describes observed availability in some countries, not a universal Microsoft guarantee. A Standard buyer should therefore use the console profile path and let the Active list determine whether the account received the promotion.
Full Premium Edition
The same report said the full Premium Edition appeared eligible. “Full” matters: the report distinguished that edition from the separate Premium Upgrade. Verify the exact product name in your order history before concluding that an absent offer is an error.

Premium Upgrade
The Premium Upgrade was reported as excluded. Buying the upgrade after a Standard pre-order should not be assumed to convert the order into a qualifying full Premium purchase. No evidence in the published material establishes a retroactive conversion rule.
Xbox console and Xbox PC storefronts
The official Gears page lists Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC availability and says Xbox Play Anywhere covers a single Xbox Series X|S or Xbox PC purchase. That explains why a qualifying Xbox purchase can be associated with one Microsoft account across those Xbox platforms, but it does not create a separate gift-card claim path on Windows. The reported redemption instructions remain the Microsoft Store profile flow on an Xbox console.
Steam
Gears of War: E-Day is also available on Steam, but the supplied promotion evidence does not establish that a Steam pre-order generates the Microsoft Store gift-card offer. Steam ownership and Xbox-store ownership are different purchase records. Do not infer eligibility from the game being available on both platforms.
Digital versus physical
The official Gears page says digital pre-orders receive the pre-order benefits automatically. It also says physical pre-orders may receive retailer-delivered codes. A physical buyer should first inspect the retailer’s email, receipt or package instructions, then sign in to the Microsoft account associated with the purchase before checking Offers & Credits. A retailer code and an account offer are separate fulfillment methods; one does not prove that the other exists.
If the Active offer is missing
An empty Active list does not identify a single cause. Work through the checks in this order so that you do not mistake a rollout delay for ineligibility.
1. Confirm the purchasing account
Sign out of any alternate profile and repeat the path with the Microsoft account that actually placed the pre-order. The offer is account-bound, and checking a family member’s or secondary gamertag’s profile can produce an apparently empty list even when the order itself is valid.
2. Verify the storefront and retailer
Compare the order record with the qualifying Xbox storefront or a participating retailer. A Steam order, an unrelated marketplace transaction or a retailer outside the promotion’s participation terms is not established as eligible by the available evidence.
3. Check the edition name
Look for “Standard Edition,” “Premium Edition” or “Premium Upgrade” in the order details. The reported exclusion applies specifically to the Premium Upgrade, while the full Premium Edition was reported as appearing eligible.
4. Check the pre-order timestamp
Use the official cutoff—before October 6, 2026 at 7:59 a.m. PT—as the comparison point. If your local receipt uses another time zone, convert it carefully rather than comparing the displayed clock time directly.

Pure Xbox reported that the offer could take time to appear and might be limited by country. Check the Active section again later using the same account instead of creating a second purchase or trying to claim from another profile.

6. Inspect physical-order communications
If the order was physical, search the retailer’s order email, receipt and packaging for a separately delivered code. The official page’s wording—physical pre-orders may receive retailer-delivered codes—means the absence of an in-console offer can require a retailer-side check.
7. Stop after the one-account limit
The official shop terms limit the offer to one per person or account. Repeated attempts on additional purchases will not establish a second entitlement and can make it harder to identify which transaction was the qualifying one.

Xbox Wire reported Early Access beginning on October 1, 2026 and the worldwide launch on October 6, 2026. The game is available on Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC and Steam. Those launch dates explain why a pre-order promotion can still be visible around release while the qualifying-order deadline has already passed.

The Xbox Wire pre-order copy describes the broader package this way: “Emergence Begins Pre-order Gears of War: E-Day, get an XBOX gift card and unlock the Exfil Dom Character Skin and the Exfil Weapon Skin Set in-game at launch.” The gift card and the in-game Exfil items are related pre-order benefits, but they are not the same redemption step. The console Offers & Credits check addresses the store-card portion; the official Gears page says digital pre-order benefits are delivered automatically, while physical buyers may receive retailer codes.
Xbox Play Anywhere is also relevant when checking the purchase record. The official Gears page says one Xbox Series X|S or Xbox PC purchase is covered, so a buyer who switches between those two Xbox environments should keep using the Microsoft account attached to the original transaction.
A practical decision tree
- Did you pre-order before the published cutoff? If no, the official terms do not establish eligibility. If yes, continue.
- Was it an Xbox purchase or a participating retailer transaction? If it was Steam, no gift-card claim is established. For a physical order, check retailer-delivered instructions.
- Which edition appears on the order? Standard and full Premium were reported as appearing eligible; Premium Upgrade was reported as excluded.
- Are you signed in to the purchasing account? If not, switch to that gamertag before checking.
- Does the offer appear at Microsoft Store → Profile → Offers & Credits → Active? If yes, redeem it there. If no, account, country, retailer, edition and rollout timing remain the relevant variables.
This sequence avoids the most common false conclusion: assuming that owning the game on any platform automatically creates an Xbox-store credit. The promotion is tied to a qualifying pre-order record and an account-level offer.
Checklist before you claim
- Microsoft account and gamertag used for the pre-order
- Edition shown on the order: Standard, full Premium or Premium Upgrade
- Xbox storefront or participating retailer name
- Digital or physical fulfillment method
- Order timestamp compared with October 6, 2026 at 7:59 a.m. PT
- Country or account region in which the purchase was made
- Microsoft Store path: Profile → Offers & Credits → Active
- Retailer email, receipt or package code for a physical order
- Whether another offer has already been claimed on the account
The Bottom Line
