Use the toy’s own sewn-in label and hangtag as the final authority. If the instructions are missing or unclear, clean a Jujutsu Kaisen plush on the surface only. A washing machine is safe only when the label explicitly allows it, while chains, sound boxes, batteries, glued details, paint and PVC parts can make immersion or heat damaging.
Fidget and squishy toys require a separate approach: keep them away from water, bleach, alcohol, heat, freezing, punctures, chewing and forceful stretching. The sections below give a decision process for dust, stains, odors, washing, drying, storage and damage.

Start with the care label, not the character or price
Licensed Jujutsu Kaisen merchandise is made by different manufacturers, so there is no single “JJK plush” washing rule. A Great Eastern Entertainment listing for the Megumi Fushiguro plush explicitly says washing instructions vary by manufacturer and directs owners to the individual tag. Treat that instruction as decisive even if another plush of the same character is washable.
Check all available information before applying moisture:

- Read the sewn-in care symbols and wording.
- Read the hangtag and any instruction sheet supplied in the package.
- Check the exact product page if the tag is missing; care symbols can appear both online and on the sewn-in label.
- Identify the manufacturer and model, since similarly sized character plushies can use different fabrics, fillings and attachments.
If you cannot establish that a toy is washable, choose surface cleaning. It is the least aggressive method and avoids turning an uncertain item into a permanently damaged one.
Why Jujutsu Kaisen plush construction changes the cleaning method
Official product descriptions show how varied the construction can be. The Movic Jujutsu Kaisen NUI-PAL mascot (2025) is about 12 cm, with a polyester body and an attached iron ball chain, and is marked for ages 15 and up. The Broccoli Chun-Colle plush (2023) measures about 80 × 70 × 60 mm and lists polyester, an iron chain and, for the listed Gojo variant, PVC. An official SEGA Nobara fuwa petit M listing describes a polyester plush of approximately 8 inches.
Those details are not merely collectible specifications. They identify failure points:
- Chains and metal hardware: can scratch fabric, trap water and introduce rust or discoloration if repeatedly soaked.
- PVC, painted or glued parts: may cloud, soften, loosen or transfer color when exposed to cleaners, heat or prolonged water.
- Sound boxes and batteries: should not be immersed unless the maker expressly designs the item for washing.
- Glued eyes and decorations: can detach during agitation even when the fabric itself survives.
- Dense filling: can remain wet internally after the outside feels dry, creating odor or mildew risk.
Character rarity, sentimental value and retail price do not override the care label. They are reasons to use a gentler method, not reasons to take a washing risk.

A decision tree for choosing a safe plush-cleaning method
1. Locate and interpret the instructions
Look for universal wash symbols, temperature limits, “surface wash,” “hand wash,” “machine wash,” “do not wash” or “spot clean only.” If the label conflicts with a retailer description, follow the sewn-in label or contact the manufacturer before cleaning.
2. Inspect the entire toy
Turn the plush over and examine seams, embroidery, ribbons, chains, plastic or PVC details, painted areas, glued pieces, sound modules and battery compartments. Repairing a loose seam before washing is safer than allowing filling to escape. Remove detachable accessories only when the instructions permit it; do not force glued or sewn-on parts off.
3. Match the least aggressive method to the evidence

How to surface-clean a Jujutsu Kaisen plush
Surface cleaning is the default for an unlabeled plush and the routine method for light dust or small marks.

- Remove loose dust. Gently brush with a soft, clean brush or wipe with a dry microfiber cloth. Work around chains, embroidery and glued details rather than pulling them.
- Make a mild cleaning solution. Use warm, not hot, water with a small amount of mild soap, or a plush cleaner whose label specifically gives plush-application instructions. Do not improvise with bleach, alcohol, solvent or a strong household spray.
- Patch-test first. Dampen a hidden seam or underside, wait for it to dry and check for dye transfer, texture change, stickiness or damage. A clean-looking test area does not guarantee every printed or painted section is safe, so remain conservative.
- Use a barely damp cloth. Wring it thoroughly, then dab or lightly wipe the stain from the outside toward the center. Avoid saturating the filling.
- Remove residue carefully. Use a second cloth dampened with clean water, again wrung nearly dry. Do not repeatedly scrub a single spot; friction can flatten pile and spread color.
- Blot and dry immediately. Press with a dry towel, reshape the plush and allow air to circulate until the interior is fully dry.
For a cleaner sold specifically for plush toys, follow its application instructions rather than assuming it can be sprayed directly onto the character. A soft cloth or protective pillowcase is a useful low-cost accessory because it limits abrasion during wiping or an approved wash.

When hand washing is allowed
Hand wash only when the label permits it and the toy has no electronics or fragile attached parts that the instructions exclude. Fill a basin with the label-approved water temperature and a small amount of gentle detergent. Support the plush with both hands; do not lift a waterlogged toy by one limb, chain or ribbon.
- Submerge only as long as the care instructions require.
- Press the fabric gently to move soapy water through the surface. Do not twist, wring, brush aggressively or pull on seams.
- Rinse with the specified water temperature until detergent is removed.
- Press excess water out against a clean towel. Never wring the toy like clothing.
- Reshape the head, limbs and attached features before air-drying.
If the plush contains a sound module, battery compartment, glued decoration, paint or a metal/PVC attachment that the maker does not address, stop and return to surface cleaning. “Hand wash” on a generic product page is not permission to immerse every component.
When a washing machine is actually acceptable
A machine is conditional, not a general solution. Spin Master/GUND care guidance says to check the hangtag or sewn-in label; for an item identified as machine washable, use gentle detergent and a delicate setting, with a pillowcase or soft cloth bag for extra protection.
- Verify the label. The exact plush must say machine washable or show the corresponding symbol. Do not infer permission from another Jujutsu Kaisen model.
- Prepare the toy. Close battery compartments, remove only permitted detachable items and check that seams are secure. Put the plush in a pillowcase or soft cloth bag and close it so the toy cannot rub directly against the drum.
- Select the gentlest permitted program. Use the label’s water temperature and a delicate cycle. Add the recommended amount of gentle detergent; excess detergent is harder to rinse from dense filling.
- Keep the load light. Avoid heavy garments, zippers and items with hooks that can snag chains or fabric.
- Follow the drying instruction. If machine drying is not explicitly approved, do not use a dryer. Remove the plush promptly, reshape it and air-dry it instead.
A pillowcase reduces abrasion; it cannot protect electronics, unapproved PVC, loose paint or a toy whose label says not to wash. If the label is unclear, skip the machine.

Drying: the inside must be dry, not just the surface
Filling can hold moisture long after the outside feels dry. Storing or using a damp center encourages odor and deterioration. After any approved wet cleaning:
- Blot with clean towels and reshape the plush.
- Place it in a well-ventilated area at room temperature.
- Turn or reposition it periodically so air reaches seams and the underside.
- Keep it away from radiators, hair dryers, ovens, steam, direct intense sunlight and other heat sources that can deform synthetic fibers, PVC or glue.
- Do not seal it in a bin, backpack or closet until the thickest area is completely dry.
Do not treat a warm surface as evidence of dryness. Check seams, feet, head and any dense embroidered section; these areas often retain moisture. If an odor remains after complete air-drying, do not mask it with perfume or chemical spray. Recheck the label and use only a compatible surface-cleaning method.

Loose dust
Start dry. A soft brush or dry cloth removes dust without introducing moisture into filling, chains or electronics. Frequent gentle dusting is safer than occasional aggressive washing.
Small food or dirt marks
Lift away solids without grinding them into the pile. Dab with a barely damp, mild-soap cloth after a hidden-area test. Rinse residue with a separate nearly dry cloth and air-dry fully.

Transfer from dark clothing or printed surfaces
Stop rubbing if color spreads. Stronger solvents can damage polyester, paint, PVC or glue, and no universal solvent is safe for all licensed plush. Use the maker’s approved cleaner or ask the manufacturer before escalating.
Persistent odor
First establish that the filling is fully dry. If the smell follows a spill, surface-clean only as the label permits; do not pour deodorizer into the plush. A continuing odor, damp core or visible growth is a reason to stop using the item and seek manufacturer guidance rather than repeatedly soaking it.
Care for Jujutsu Kaisen fidget and squishy toys
Fidget products are not washable plush. They may use rubber, PVC, foam, gel or other sensory materials whose surfaces and fillings react differently to water and chemicals. Schylling’s product-care guidance says to follow the product label and avoid bleach, alcohol, harsh cleaners, abrasive pads, boiling water, steam cleaners, dishwashers, washing machines, dryers, strong solvents and chemical sprays unless the product instructions clearly allow a method.

Use this routine for an intact sensory toy:
- Read the toy’s own label and identify whether it is rubber, PVC, foam, gel or another material.
- Remove crumbs, sand and loose residue with a dry, soft cloth.
- If the instructions permit moisture, use only the smallest amount of compatible cleaner and test an inconspicuous area.
- Wipe away residue and let the surface air-dry completely before handling.
- Store it clean and dry away from direct sun, high heat, freezing temperatures, moisture, pets and food.
Unless the maker expressly allows it, keep sensory toys away from boiling water, steam, microwaves, ovens, freezers and dryers. Do not bite, chew, puncture, cut, freeze, heat or aggressively stretch them. Water and disinfectant are not automatically safer than dirt; an incompatible chemical can make a toy sticky, brittle or unsafe.
What to do when a squishy or fidget toy is damaged
Stop use immediately if the toy leaks, splits, cracks, becomes unexpectedly sticky, releases a small part or changes in a way that could expose a child or pet to its filling. Do not patch a leaking sensory toy with household glue, tape or heat unless the manufacturer provides a repair procedure; an improvised repair can fail during squeezing.
- Move the damaged item away from children, pets, food and other toys.
- Wash hands after contact with leaked material and follow the product’s safety instructions.
- Do not continue squeezing to “test” the split or stretch the tear wider.
- Dispose of or return the item according to the maker or retailer’s safety guidance.
A damaged sensory product should not be given to a child or pet, even if the leak appears minor.
Storage that prevents the next cleaning problem
Store every cleaned plush or fidget toy only after it is fully dry. Choose a clean, dry location with normal room temperatures and airflow. Keep toys away from direct sunlight, high heat, moisture, dust, pets and food. Avoid compressing a plush under heavy objects, which can permanently flatten pile and stress attachments. Do not store a sensory toy where freezing, heat or sharp objects can reach it.
For display pieces with chains or PVC details, leave enough space that hardware is not pressing into another toy. For frequently handled items, a washable shelf liner or clean storage pouch can reduce dust without requiring more wet cleaning. Never seal a damp plush in an airtight container.

A final pre-cleaning and post-cleaning checklist
Before cleaning
- Have you read the sewn-in label, hangtag and exact product instructions?
- Does the toy contain electronics, batteries, glued parts, paint, PVC, chains or loose seams?
- Have you selected the least aggressive method allowed?
- Have you prepared a hidden-area test and a clean drying space?
After cleaning
- Is there no soap or cleaner residue on the surface?
- Are seams, eyes, chains and attachments still secure?
- Is the center filling completely dry?
- Is the toy stored away from heat, sunlight, moisture, pets and food?
The safest rule is simple: label-approved cleaning for plush, surface cleaning when the label is uncertain, and no improvisation with sensory toys. Construction details determine the risk, and complete drying determines whether cleaning has actually finished.
