To complete A Savage Discovery in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, free Sidney from the Blackshirts barracks, find Giuseppe in Section F of the excavation site, take the Cellar Key, recover the Stone Fragment from the cellar near the Vatican Post Office, then return it to Professor Savage and Sidney at the Apostolic Library.
Start A Savage Discovery
Pick up the Theft Report in the military tent just outside the Apostolic Library to start the Fieldwork. You can also trigger the quest by encountering Professor Savage in the Vatican Gardens, according to PowerPyx’s walkthrough.
From Belvedere Gardens, head toward the Borgia Courtyards and speak with Savage. He explains that his assistant Sidney was captured while trying to recover an inscribed stone fragment.
Rescue Sidney from the Blackshirts barracks
The barracks are in the northwest part of the Vatican area. You need to find the cell key and free Sidney. There are several ways into the building, so choose the approach that suits your disguise and play style:
#1 Best Overall
- Enter the stadium and take part of one of the biggest competitions across 34 sports: from swimming, soccer, extreme bike, weightlifting, trampoline and much more!
- Defend your own country and visit the World: United States, Australia, Japan, France…
- Train yourself alone or compete with your friends!
- An enhanced version of “30 Sport Games in 1”, with revamped design, new games and more customisation!
- Climb in: Use the scaffolding and whip route to reach an entrance, as described by Gameranx.
- Enter in disguise: If you have a Blackshirts disguise, you can use the front entrance.
- Sneak or fight: You can also work your way through the barracks stealthily or by fighting. Guard positions and precise routes may vary; use the in-game objective marker if the entrance or route differs from a guide.
Use the Dig Site Schedule to locate Giuseppe
Travel to the Excavation Site in the southeast of the Vatican area. In the small building there, pick up the Dig Site Schedule. It points you to Giuseppe in Section F.
Enter the excavation area and follow the signs for Section F. Defeat Giuseppe and take the Cellar Key from him. The key is associated with the address 3 v.d. Pellegrino, near the Vatican Post Office.

Which notes count toward Fieldwork completion?
The four notes listed for this Fieldwork are:
- Theft Report
- Fool Card
- Sidney’s Letter
- Dig Site Schedule
Other items you may find along the way are separate discoveries or optional loot, not additional Fieldwork notes. For example, guides mention a Lockbox Note, a Street Scrapper I Adventure Book, and a guard’s note with a code for an optional locker. You do not need to collect those to finish the Fieldwork.
Adventure Point reward
Published walkthroughs disagree about the reward: PowerPyx lists 100 Adventure Points, while Gameranx claims 300 Adventure Points and an achievement. The reward amount is not consistent across those guides, so check the in-game completion screen for the amount awarded in your game.
