To complete a Conservation Project in Planet Zoo 2, leave your zoo for the Planet Hub, open the leaf-shaped Conservation Projects tab, choose a project, review every requirement, select Allocate Resources, and manually claim the reward after the project finishes. Projects can consume cash, staff, animals, or release groups, so check the opportunity cost before confirming.
What are Conservation Projects in Planet Zoo 2?
Conservation Projects are global objectives managed through the Planet Hub, the network layer connecting your zoos and Wildlife Reserves. They support the game’s FEN Conservation Coordinator campaign: you send qualifying resources into field work, wait for the objective to complete, then collect its reward.

Planet Zoo 2 launched on 13 October 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The Planet Hub and its conservation systems are available across Career, Franchise, and Sandbox, although the projects shown and the pressure to complete them differ by mode and scenario.
How do I start a Conservation Project?
- Return to the Planet Hub. From a zoo, choose Return to Hub. The command uses the globe icon at the far-left side of the taskbar.
- Open the Conservation Projects tab. In the Hub, select the third tab, marked by a leaf. The neighboring tabs are for Zoos and Wildlife Reserves.
- Select a project card. Read the objective and all listed requirements before committing anything.
- Check the cost and conditions. Requirements may include cash, staff, particular animals, release groups, or other scenario conditions. Look for weekly, event-linked, randomly surfaced, or limited-time labels.
- Choose Allocate Resources. This control appears on the right side of the project panel. Select resources that meet the requirements and confirm.
- Wait for completion. Allocation starts the field work, but it does not award the reward immediately.
- Claim the reward manually. When the project is complete, return to its project interface and select the claim option.
What should I check before allocating resources?
Do not treat every qualifying resource as disposable. A project can remove an animal or release group from your available pool, while staff assigned to field work leave the zoo during the assignment.

- Keep animals needed for breeding, trading, or a separate scenario objective.
- Check whether a release group is reserved for another Wildlife Reserve requirement.
- Confirm that you can absorb the staff absence without disrupting animal care or construction.
- Compare the immediate reward with the long-term breeding value of the animals being committed.
- Verify the project’s deadline if it is weekly, event-linked, or limited-time.
What resources do projects use, and what do they reward?
Projects may consume cash, staff time, animals, and release groups. Cash pays for staff, facilities, and construction elsewhere in the zoo economy; Conservation Credits are a separate progression currency used for animal adoptions and other Franchise-related purposes.
Most projects award Conservation Credits. Some institutions instead provide cash, animals, or release groups; those rewards can be claimed through Gifts in Animal Trading. Because the reward type varies, inspect the project card rather than assuming every completion pays Credits.

What types of Conservation Projects are available?
The current catalogue lists six project types and 18 project entries, including weekly and career projects. Names and availability can change with scenarios and live updates.

All three modes use the Planet Hub, but the reason to prioritize a project changes with the mode.

- Career: The FEN story campaign can place a specific Conservation Project directly into a scenario objective. Follow the scenario requirement even if another project offers a more attractive reward.
- Franchise: Projects participate in the connected online zoo economy. Some are limited-time, and Conservation Credits contribute to animal adoptions and other progression. The catalogue records 300 Conservation Credits as the listed starting balance for Franchise.
- Sandbox: The Hub remains accessible, but progression pressure is lower. The Default and Creative Sandbox presets list unlimited Conservation Credits, so resource and scenario goals may matter more than currency farming.
How should I choose between two projects?
Use the project cards as a decision checklist rather than selecting the first available objective.
- Compare the cash, staff, animal, and release-group cost.
- Compare the time until completion and any expiry window.
- Identify whether the reward is Conservation Credits, cash, an animal, or a release group.
- Check whether the required animal is important breeding stock.
- Confirm that the project is valid for your current mode and scenario.
- Prefer a weekly or limited-time project only when you can finish it before the window closes.
Why can’t I find a Conservation Project or the Planet Hub?
Enter the Hub directly instead of relying on an automatic Resume route. From the mode’s menu, use its Hub button or the globe icon, then check the leaf tab again.

Next, confirm that the project belongs to the current scenario or mode and that its availability window has not expired. Frontier’s 23 October 2026 Update 1.0.7 fixed a Resume connection error that could prevent a Franchise save from loading into a game mode. If you are using a different platform, remember that keyboard and controller bindings can vary; the documented menu labels remain Return to Hub, the leaf tab, and Allocate Resources.

Completion does not automatically place the reward in your inventory. Reopen the project interface, select the completed entry, and claim the reward. If the reward is an animal or release group supplied through an institution, check Gifts in Animal Trading after claiming.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I cancel a Conservation Project after allocating resources?
The documented workflow provides allocation and later reward claiming, but does not establish a universal cancellation command. Treat confirmed allocations as committed and avoid assigning resources you may need elsewhere.
Do staff return to my zoo when field work ends?
Staff sent to a project leave the zoo while working in the field. Plan normal care and construction around that temporary absence and check the project status for completion before counting them back in your staffing capacity.
