How the Haunted by Daylight loop works
Haunted by Daylight is a limited-time Dead by Daylight event whose objectives, currencies, and cosmetic inventory change between editions. The reliable way to make progress is to treat the event as two linked systems: an in-Trial objective and an event-reward track.

- Open the Event Tome or event-quest screen. Select the active Haunted by Daylight challenge before queuing. A selected challenge is what tells the game which action to record.
- Enter a Trial in the required role. Survivor and Killer challenges use different actions. Read the exact wording rather than assuming a normal match objective will count.
- Perform the event action. Official 2022–2023 guides list Halloween Generator repairs, stunning a Killer carrying Void Energy, and destroying Pumpkins for Survivors. Killer examples are hooking Survivors on Halloween Hooks, downing a Survivor carrying Void Energy, and destroying Pumpkins.
- Collect event energy if the current edition uses it. Some editions provide Void Orbs or another event-energy pickup. Carry the energy to an Unstable Rift and deposit it when the quest requires a delivery.
- Complete the Trial. The documented event loop requires the match to be completed for challenge and reward progress to register. Do not treat an early exit as a completed objective.
- Claim or spend the resulting reward. Depending on the edition, progress unlocks an Event Tome reward, an event-quest reward, Dark Trinkets, Bloodpoints, Iridescent Shards, or a cosmetic. Dark Trinkets are spent in the Haunted by Daylight event collection when that currency is active.
This order prevents the most common mistake: doing the right action without an active challenge, then leaving the Trial with no event progress.

The following actions are documented in Behaviour Interactive’s 2022–2023 Haunted by Daylight guides. They are a historical objective set, not a guarantee that every action appears in the next event.

Repair Halloween Generators
When the selected challenge calls for a Halloween Generator, repair the event generator during the Trial. Ordinary generator progress should not be assumed to satisfy an event-specific requirement unless the current challenge text says so. Select the challenge first, identify the event-marked generator, and remain in the Trial until the game records the result.
Stun a Killer carrying Void Energy
This objective requires two conditions in the same interaction: the Killer must be carrying Void Energy, and your action must produce a stun. A normal pallet drop or other stun performed while the Killer has no Void Energy may not satisfy that wording. Watch for the event-energy state, position yourself near a safe pallet or locker, and avoid forcing a risky play when the Killer is not carrying the resource.
Destroy Pumpkins
Pumpkin destruction is a separate event action. If the challenge counts pumpkins, breaking generators, cleansing totems, or opening chests will not substitute for it. Check the challenge counter after each destruction so you know whether the interaction was recognized.

Efficient Survivor routing
- Read all active challenge text before the match and choose one whose action fits your normal role plan.
- If the challenge involves a Killer carrying Void Energy, let the Killer obtain the resource before attempting the stun; an early stun can fail the condition.
- When multiple Survivors need event interactions, communicate who is pursuing the energy carrier and who is repairing or breaking Pumpkins.
- Do not leave immediately after the counter moves. Finish the Trial so the event system can award the progress.
Killer objectives
The same official guides list three Killer-side event actions. Their exact availability depends on the edition and on the selected challenge.
Hook Survivors on Halloween Hooks
For a Halloween Hook objective, the hook must be one of the event hooks identified by the current event. A regular hook interaction may not count. Check the challenge wording and the in-match event visual treatment before committing to a route.
Down a Survivor carrying Void Energy
This challenge is conditional: the Survivor must be carrying Void Energy when you down them. A down without the event resource does not meet the documented condition. If the objective is active, monitor which Survivor has collected energy and pressure that player when a safe opportunity appears.

Destroy Pumpkins
Kick or otherwise destroy the event Pumpkins required by the challenge. Because this is an event interaction, normal chase actions do not replace it. If the counter does not move, verify that the selected quest is the Pumpkin challenge and that you are interacting with the event object rather than a standard map prop.
Efficient Killer routing
- Choose one challenge before searching for a match; switching objectives after the Trial begins cannot retroactively credit actions.
- When a quest requires a Void Energy carrier, avoid downing a different Survivor first if you can safely keep pressure on the carrier.
- Use the event hook requirement as a routing constraint, not as a reason to abandon a secure hook. The objective still has to be completed during a finished Trial.
- Confirm the counter after the relevant hook, down, or Pumpkin interaction and complete the match.
Collecting and depositing Void Energy
Where the energy comes from
Haunted by Daylight editions can generate Void Orbs or another event-energy pickup during the Trial. The name and presentation can change, so follow the current event UI rather than relying on an older map layout. Void Energy is also part of several role objectives: Survivors may need to stun a Killer carrying it, while Killers may need to down a Survivor carrying it.
Where to deposit it
Carry the energy to an Unstable Rift and use the deposit interaction. The Rift is the documented delivery point; depositing elsewhere does not complete the energy-delivery step. If you cannot find one, check the event HUD and map effects for the current edition, because portal and Rift behavior is not identical every year.
The 2022 deposit rule
The 2022 official guide documented a limit of 15 Void Energy carried at once. It also stated that depositing 30 Void Energy in one Trial and then completing the match awarded one of 12 cosmetics. That threshold and cosmetic count belong to the 2022 system. They are a historical example, not a confirmed rule for 2025 or 2026.
Practical delivery sequence
- Collect the event pickup shown by the active edition.
- Check your carried amount on the event HUD before leaving the area.
- Locate an Unstable Rift and approach it with enough time to perform the deposit interaction.
- Deposit the amount required by the current challenge or quest.
- Complete the Trial and verify the reward screen or Event Tome counter afterward.
Do not use the 2022 number as a farming target unless the current in-game challenge explicitly displays it. Later editions changed their systems and reward structures.

Event Tome challenges, quests, and Dark Trinkets
Event Tome challenges
An Event Tome challenge is a selected, role-specific task. Its completion can award progression and, in editions that use the currency, Dark Trinkets. The challenge screen is the authority for the current requirement, not an older guide or a remembered threshold.

Event quests
Later editions also use event quests alongside or instead of the older Tome-style flow. Haunted by Daylight 2025 included event quests tied to the Void Realm, limited-time cosmetics, and daily rewards. A quest may track a different action or reward path from the Event Tome, so inspect both screens if the event menu presents both.
Spending Dark Trinkets
Dark Trinkets are event currency used in the Haunted by Daylight collection when that edition enables them. The 2024 official guide says Event Tome challenges award Dark Trinkets that can purchase Haunted by Daylight cosmetics. The amount needed for each item is edition-specific; use the collection’s displayed cost rather than importing a number from another year.
Daily login rewards
Daily rewards are separate from Trial objectives. Log in during the event window and inspect the calendar so you do not confuse a login grant with an objective reward. The documented 2025 calendar awarded a total of 100 Dark Trinkets, 1,000,000 Bloodpoints, and 1,000 Iridescent Shards.

The table shows why an old walkthrough can mislead you. The 2022 system describes a single-Trial energy threshold and a 12-cosmetic pool; 2024 emphasizes Tome tracks and Dark Trinkets; 2025 uses Void Realm access, quests, and a login calendar. These are not interchangeable rule sets.
Haunted by Daylight 2025 rewards
Event dates
The documented 2025 event ran from October 14 through November 4. The event window matters because login-calendar claims, quest availability, and the limited-time collection are tied to those dates. A future event can use different dates.
Event-quest outfits
The 2025 event quests included an Inferno Core outfit for Felix Richter and a Dia Das Bruxas outfit for The Skull Merchant. These are quest-linked rewards from the 2025 edition, not permanent guarantees for later events.

Dark Trinket cosmetics
The same 2025 guide said Dark Trinkets could unlock additional cosmetics, including three new Skeleton Shirts for Dwight Fairfield, Vee Boonyasak, and Zarina Kassir. The collection screen determines each item’s current cost and unlock order.

Daily-calendar value
Completing the daily login calendar across the documented 2025 event yielded 100 Dark Trinkets, 1,000,000 Bloodpoints, and 1,000 Iridescent Shards in total. Those figures describe the full calendar, not a single login and not a guaranteed 2026 payout.
What was different in 2024
The 2024 structure added a distinct DbD Day track with eight challenges. Each cosmetic unlocked on that track granted 25,000 Bloodpoints. That bonus is attached to cosmetics on the DbD Day track, so it should not be applied automatically to every Haunted by Daylight reward or to a later year’s collection.
For 2024, the practical route was to select the relevant Event Tome challenge, complete its in-Trial requirement, finish the match, and use the resulting Dark Trinkets in the event collection. Check the event menu for the eight DbD Day challenges if you are targeting that track specifically.

The 2022 guide is the clearest documented example of the Void Energy deposit loop. Players could carry up to 15 Void Energy, deposit 30 during one Trial at an Unstable Rift, and receive one of 12 cosmetics after completing the match. The pool contained six Survivor and six Killer cosmetics.
That rule is useful for understanding the original design, but it should not be used as a current objective checklist. The event has since introduced different combinations of Tome challenges, quests, Dark Trinkets, daily rewards, and Void Realm content.

How to avoid lost progress
Confirm the selected challenge
Open the Event Tome or quest page immediately before matchmaking. If the objective is not selected, actions that look correct in the Trial may not be tracked.
Match the exact condition
Words such as Halloween Generator, Halloween Hook, carrying Void Energy, down, stun, and destroy describe different conditions. A normal generator repair, ordinary hook, or stun against a non-carrier is not a safe substitute.
Watch the counter
Use the in-game progress indicator after each qualifying interaction. A counter that does not change is a signal to stop repeating the same action and reread the objective.

The documented energy reward and challenge loop requires match completion. Even after reaching the visible target, play through the end-of-Trial result screen before checking the event menu.
Spend before the event closes
When an edition uses Dark Trinkets, open the event collection and spend them before the limited-time menu disappears. Login rewards, quests, and cosmetic availability are tied to the edition’s event window.
A role-neutral completion checklist
- Select one active Haunted by Daylight Event Tome challenge or event quest.
- Read whether it requires a Survivor action, a Killer action, Void Energy, a Pumpkin, a Halloween Generator, or a Halloween Hook.
- Perform the exact interaction during the Trial.
- Collect and deposit event energy at an Unstable Rift if the current objective includes delivery.
- Check that the progress counter moved.
- Complete the Trial.
- Return to the event menu and claim the unlocked reward or inspect your Dark Trinket balance.
- Use the event collection to unlock available cosmetics before the event ends.
How to read a new Haunted by Daylight announcement
When a new Halloween edition is announced, verify five items in the official event guide and in the live event menu:
- Dates: confirm the start and end of the event rather than relying on a previous October schedule.
- Objective wording: note the exact Survivor and Killer actions and whether they are Tome challenges, quests, or both.
- Energy rules: check whether Void Energy or Void Orbs exist, how much can be carried, and where the deposit interaction occurs.
- Reward path: identify Dark Trinkets, direct cosmetic unlocks, daily login grants, Bloodpoints, and Iridescent Shards separately.
- Inventory: record the named outfits, shirts, and other cosmetics for that edition only.
For 2026, those details have not been verified in the available official material. Use the live Event Tome, quest screen, and event guide once published instead of carrying forward the 2025 totals or the 2022 deposit threshold.
Bottom line for efficient farming
The fastest reliable method is not to memorize one year’s number. Select a current objective, perform its exact role action, use the active edition’s energy-and-Rift rules, confirm the counter, and finish every Trial. Then claim the Tome or quest reward, spend Dark Trinkets in the event collection, and complete the login calendar while the event is active. The 2022 30-energy rule, the 2024 eight-challenge DbD Day track, and the 2025 calendar totals are edition-specific reference points, not universal Haunted by Daylight requirements.
