Aspiring Dragons Research Day is over. It ran on Saturday, December 7, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time. Its Timed Research expired at 5:00 p.m. that day, and the event ticket is no longer available. This guide preserves the event’s tasks and rewards for reference; it cannot be completed now.
Which Pokémon could you encounter?
Event-themed Field Research could reward an encounter with one of four featured Pokémon: Horsea, Trapinch, Swablu, or Skrelp. A task did not let you choose which species appeared. Leek Duck’s 2024 event archive lists these event-specific encounter CP ranges:

The archive also reported increased shiny odds for these Pokémon when encountered through research during the event. That was a time-limited event feature, not a current shiny-rate guarantee.
What were the Aspiring Dragons Research Day tasks?
The archived event task list included these Field Research actions. Completing an event-themed task could lead to an encounter from the four-Pokémon pool above; the task itself did not guarantee a particular species.

Pokémon GO’s event announcement offered an optional ticket for US$2.00 or the equivalent local pricing tier. The ticket unlocked additional Timed Research; all tasks and rewards had to be completed and claimed by 5:00 p.m. local time on December 7, 2024.

- The first step asked players to complete a Field Research task for each of Horsea, Trapinch, Swablu, and Skrelp.
- Players then selected a featured species for a path containing ten Field Research tasks and repeated encounters with that Pokémon.
- After completing a set, players could choose another set featuring the same species or select a different featured species.
At the time, tickets could be gifted to friends at Great Friends friendship level or higher, but could not be purchased with PokéCoins. Purchases were non-refundable, subject to applicable law and the Pokémon GO Terms of Service. These ticket options and the Timed Research have expired.
