Download the free Sonic Jam Skin DLC from the digital store for your platform, then equip it from SONIC GENERATIONS’ Additional Content menu. You need SONIC X SHADOW GENERATIONS to use the add-on.

SEGA says the Sonic Jam Skin is free DLC. Open the store for the platform where you play SONIC X SHADOW GENERATIONS, find the Sonic Jam Skin add-on on the game’s store page, and download it. Availability and listings can vary by platform and region, so use the matching local storefront.

- Open your platform’s digital store and find the SONIC X SHADOW GENERATIONS store page.
- Locate the Sonic Jam Skin add-on and download it.
- Wait for the download to finish, then launch the game.
SEGA announced the free DLC on January 17, 2025. The Nintendo US eShop lists January 16, 2025 as the Switch add-on’s release date; that is the listing’s release date, not SEGA’s announcement date. SEGA’s announcement and the Nintendo US eShop listing provide their respective details.
Equip it in SONIC GENERATIONS
The skin is selected in the SONIC GENERATIONS portion of the game, not from the Shadow Generations menu. Follow this exact menu path:

- Choose the Sonic Jam Skin under Classic Sonic Skin Setting.
SEGA notes that the outfit may not appear in some areas, including certain cutscenes. If you downloaded it but cannot select it, first confirm that the download completed, then make sure you are in SONIC GENERATIONS and checking the specified setting.

The DLC changes Classic Sonic’s appearance to reflect his look in the 1997 game Sonic Jam. Nintendo describes it as “A legacy skin for Classic Sonic inspired by his look in Sonic Jam.” It is a cosmetic add-on; the Nintendo US eShop states that SONIC X SHADOW GENERATIONS is required to play it.
