Is the Buried City button puzzle still available?
GamesRadar reported that the puzzle was removed with the January 2026 Headwinds update; a separate GamesRadar news result also reported the change. The available reports do not include an official Embark Studios patch note confirming it. If you encounter an older guide, its button locations and instructions describe the historical version and may not apply to the current game.
How the puzzle worked before its reported removal
Historical guides describe a sequence of 15 buttons spread across Buried City. Players had to activate buttons 1 through 14 in order; activating the final button, number 15, unlocked a hidden room. GameRiv reported that pressing a button out of sequence reset progress for everyone in that session.
The final room was described as containing musical instruments and other loot. A community puzzle map likewise instructed players to follow the green-numbered order and warned that an incorrect activation reset the sequence.

Why old button-location lists may not agree
Historical guides do not provide a single, consistently documented route. GameRiv names broad areas including Plaza Rosa, Galleria, Hospital, Corso da Vinci and residential locations. The community map presents its detailed route visually, but its individual locations are not available as readable text here. Do not assume that combining these sources produces a verified button-by-button sequence.
Because the activity is reported removed and exact placements differed between guides, a legacy map is useful only as historical context—not as assurance that the puzzle can still be completed.

GamesRadar reported that after the removal, Shani sold Acoustic Guitars for 70 Cred and Shakers for 40 Cred. These are reported in-game prices, not independently confirmed current shop listings. Check Shani’s available inventory in your game before relying on them.
