Start Fires in the Mine at Eagle’s Reach
The quest is listed as Fires in the Mine—singular—in walkthroughs, although it is often referred to as “Fires in the Mines.” Find the Aedyran Soldier at Eagle’s Reach in Shatterscarp and speak with them to begin. Game8’s walkthrough and the Guides4Gamers side-quest index identify it as a Shatterscarp side quest.

Reach the Sulfur Mines and get inside
At the mine encampment, speak with Seyon and Kada, the mining officials. Then go to the entrance and talk to Darle, the gate guard, to enter the Sulfur Mines. Neoseeker’s walkthrough and Game8 both describe this sequence.
If the elevator to the encampment is not working
Game8 describes an alternate route from the nearby Adra Waystone: head east toward the waterfalls, take the sloped path and ladder, then cross the bridge to reach the encampment. This is that guide’s route description; navigation may be described differently in other walkthroughs.

Destroy both spider nests
Your objective is to destroy two nests. Either can be cleared first. Defeat the spiders around each egg cluster, then use fire on the eggs to destroy the nest. Game8 lists Magran’s Fury, Kai’s Firestarter, Fan of Flames, and a fire-enchanted weapon as possible methods.
- Burn the first egg cluster with a fire attack or fire-enchanted weapon.
- Continue through the mine, burning obstructing webs as needed. Cross the broken railway gap and crawl through the passage to reach the other nest.
- Defeat the enemies there and burn the second egg cluster.

Decide whether to stop Darle
After clearing the nests, you encounter Darle as you leave. He intends to destroy the mines to avoid a conflict over their resources. The choice determines whether the mine remains available and whether you fight him.

Game8’s choice guide and Neoseeker describe these outcomes. The guides reviewed do not use a consistent currency label for the officials’ reward: Game8 calls it 900 Coins, Neoseeker calls it 900 Skeyt, and Guides4Gamers lists 900 copper. Treat those as source-specific reports rather than a settled in-game amount. Game8 also reports that Darle drops 432 Coins if defeated.

Return to the officials and check the mine for loot
After resolving the encounter with Darle, return to Seyon and Kada for the debrief. If you chose to stop Darle, this is when the officials’ reward is reported to be given.
Loot descriptions differ between walkthroughs, so do not assume every named item is guaranteed. Game8 reports a sarcophagus near the elevator containing Magran’s Force, a unique glove. Neoseeker mentions a treasure chest and the unique weapon Just Pestle. Check the mine yourself before leaving if you want to make sure you have collected what is available.
