The similarly named Woodland Spirit trophy is tied to a different quest, Contract: In the Heart of the Forest. If you meant the contract, start at the Border Post notice board; if you meant the trophy, follow the separate Woodland Spirit quest route.
Woodland Beast is a contract, not the trophy
The Witcher Wiki lists Contract: Woodland Beast as a Velen contract with a suggested level of 6. That is the game’s suggested level, not a level requirement. The contract begins at a notice board near the Border Post, and the trail leads to a Scoia’tael camp northwest of the Inn at the Crossroads. The Witcher Wiki’s contract entry identifies the attackers as Scoia’tael targeting Redanian transports.

A trophy guide for the Game of the Year Edition instead associates the Woodland Spirit trophy with Contract: In the Heart of the Forest. That is a separate contract, not another name for Woodland Beast. The guide’s route implies that earning the trophy requires choosing the outcome that kills the Woodland Spirit. The guide is edition-specific and old, so it does not establish that every current platform or edition has an identical trophy list. Read the Game of the Year Edition trophy guide.
How to complete Contract: Woodland Beast
- Take the notice. Find the notice board near the Border Post in Velen and accept the Woodland Beast contract. The contract is associated with the Border Post along the Pontar river. Prima Games’ walkthrough starts by directing Geralt to speak with the guardpost captain.
- Speak to the captain. Talk to the guardpost captain to learn about the attacked transport.
- Investigate the attack site. Use Witcher Senses to examine the scene and find the trail left by the attackers.
- Follow the tracks. Keep using Witcher Senses along the trail until it leads you to the Scoia’tael rather than to a monster.
- Choose how to handle the group. The meaningful branch is whether to kill the Scoia’tael or let them go. Both are presented as ways to resolve the encounter; neither choice is required merely to finish the contract.

| The Woodland Spirit trophy | Contract: In the Heart of the Forest | The Game of the Year Edition trophy guide connects this trophy to that separate contract and implies the spirit must be killed. If a trophy does not register
First confirm that you are playing the correct contract for the trophy listed by your edition. CD PROJEKT RED’s general trophy troubleshooting advises clearing the game cache and, where needed, replaying the relevant objectives from a save made before them. Its support page does not say that Woodland Beast itself awards a trophy. See CD PROJEKT RED’s trophy troubleshooting steps.
