To link your League of Legends account, open Discord’s User Settings > Connections, select League of Legends, and follow the prompts. Linking your account is different from showing the game as your Discord activity: activity visibility has separate sharing and game-detection controls.
Connect your League of Legends account to Discord
- Open Discord on desktop or in a browser and select the User Settings cogwheel.
- Choose Connections.
- Select League of Legends and complete the account-linking prompts.
Discord also documents connecting through a Join Leaderboard prompt, but that route is available only to players who can access its experimental League of Legends Leaderboards feature. The general route is Connections. See Discord’s Leaderboards FAQ.
Show League of Legends as your Discord activity
Account linking does not by itself guarantee that a running game will appear in your status. Discord treats connected accounts and detected computer-game activity as separate functions. To check activity visibility:
- Open User Settings > Activity Sharing and turn on activity sharing.
- Open User Settings > Registered Games under Games & Apps. Check whether League of Legends is detected and allowed to display.
- If you want activity associated with the account connection, open User Settings > Connections and check whether that connection offers an activity-sharing toggle. If present, enable it.
Connection-level sharing works only while global Activity Sharing is on. Discord says games and activities that support Rich Presence can show additional details about what is happening in the activity; the exact display depends on support and the options currently available in your Discord setup. Choose the right privacy control
| Setting | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Global Activity Sharing | Whether Discord shares activity generally. Connection-level sharing depends on this setting being on. |
| Registered Games | Whether a detected game is permitted to appear as activity. |
| Connection activity toggle | Activity sharing for a connected app or account, if Discord offers that toggle. |
| Server-specific activity privacy | Server-level activity visibility, but not the experimental Member List Activity Cards in the same way. Those cards use global, connection, and game-level controls. |
Discord’s Activity Sharing FAQ explains these controls. Adjust the relevant global, game, or connection setting for the surface where you want activity hidden or shown.
Why League of Legends may not appear
- The account is linked, but status is blank: Check global Activity Sharing, then confirm League of Legends is detected and permitted under Registered Games. A linked account alone does not guarantee live activity or Rich Presence.
- You cannot find League of Legends under Connections: Confirm that you are using Discord’s account-connection settings. The Leaderboard join prompt is an alternative only for users with access to that experiment.
- You cannot find the Leaderboard option: That feature is experimental, not a requirement for the general account-linking route.
- Activity still does not show: Discord’s general guidance covers detectable games, but it does not guarantee detection for every League of Legends installation or client state. The available Rich Presence display can also depend on your Discord version and current in-app options.
Who can use League of Legends Leaderboards?
Discord describes Leaderboards as an experimental feature available only to a limited number of League of Legends players on desktop (Windows and macOS) and browser. Its Leaderboards FAQ was published November 15, 2024, and is marked updated. Not seeing Leaderboards does not, on its own, mean the regular Connections method is broken.
