Connect the controller to Xbox Series X|S
Step 1: Turn on the console
Start the Xbox Series X or Series S and wait until the dashboard is visible. Connecting after the console has finished starting makes the detection result easier to interpret: you can immediately see whether the controller is accepted by the active console session.
Step 2: Plug in the USB cable
Connect the supplied USB cable to the controller, then connect the other end to a USB port on the Xbox. What the LED tells you on Xbox
The available manual gives one definitive visual checkpoint: the status LED becoming solid means the controller is ready to play. It does not publish a longer LED error-code chart or a detailed fault tree. Treat the indicator as a simple decision point:
- Solid LED: proceed to dashboard and game testing.
- Not solid: leave the controller connected for a moment, then inspect the cable seating and USB port.

Connect the controller to a Windows PC
Step 1: Confirm the Windows requirement

Step 2: Connect directly by USB

Step 3: Allow Windows to enumerate the device

Step 4: Check that Windows sees an Xbox-style controller
Open the Windows game-controller interface by searching the Start menu for Set up USB game controllers, then open the matching Control Panel result. The controller should appear in the device list. Select it and choose Properties to view the test panel; move a stick or press a button and watch for a response. This test is useful because it checks the operating system layer without relying on a game’s own input menu.

Step 5: Select it in the game
Launch a title that supports Xbox/XInput controllers. Many games select the first detected gamepad automatically; others expose an input, controller, or devices menu. Choose the wired Xbox-style controller if the game presents a list, then test movement and several buttons. If Windows responds in the test panel but the game does not, the remaining issue is in that game’s input configuration, controller-support mode, or device selection.

Because the controller communicates through the cable, avoid placing the cable where chair wheels, a desk edge, or a footrest can pull the connector. The 2.5-metre lead determines the maximum practical distance from the PC. If the lead is stretched, reposition the computer or seating area rather than relying on a wireless setting that this model does not list.
Why you do not pair this controller over Bluetooth
The published product description specifies wired USB connectivity. That means the controller is not expected to appear in the Xbox or Windows Bluetooth-device lists, and there is no documented pairing sequence for it. Separate a port problem from a controller problem
If the first port does not produce a solid LED or dashboard response, move the cable to another Xbox USB port. If the controller works after the port change, the original port or its physical contact was the likely cause. If no port produces the documented ready indication, inspect the cable for visible damage and make sure both plugs are fully inserted.
Test outside the game

When nothing appears after plugging in
- Confirm the PC is running Windows 10 version 1903 or later, or Windows 11.
- Unplug and reseat both ends of the supplied cable.
- Try another USB port, preferably one directly on the computer.
- Wait for Windows to finish device enumeration before opening the game-controller panel.
- Test the controller on the Windows USB game-controller properties screen.
If the device remains absent from the Windows game-controller list after those checks, the failure is occurring before the game can select an input device. Record which ports you tested and whether Windows showed any device notification; that information is more useful than changing in-game key bindings.
When Windows sees it but the game does not
First verify that button presses and stick movement register in the Windows test panel. If they do, open the game’s controller or input menu and select the detected Xbox/XInput device if a choice is offered. Some games remember a previous keyboard, mouse, or other gamepad selection, so explicitly choosing the current controller can resolve an otherwise confusing mismatch.

When controls are present but mapped incorrectly
Check the game’s own binding screen and restore its Xbox or default-controller layout if available. Test several controls, not just one button, because a single unresponsive action can be a game mapping issue rather than a complete connection failure. Do not switch to Bluetooth settings as a diagnostic shortcut
