To connect a WordPress store to Amazon Marketplace, use WooCommerce as the store layer and connect it through either a maintained Amazon integration extension or a custom Amazon Selling Partner API (SP-API) application. You must authorize an Amazon seller application, map WooCommerce data to Amazon’s catalog requirements, choose matching regional and marketplace identifiers, and keep monitoring listings, inventory, orders and errors after launch.
Antihost offers managed WordPress hosting with free migration, one-click staging and a 14-day free trial.
A WordPress page that links visitors to Amazon is a different, much simpler setup. It does not create Amazon listings, import orders or synchronize stock, and it does not require seller authorization through SP-API.

Use WordPress as an Amazon sales channel
In this model, WooCommerce remains a product and order system while Amazon becomes an additional marketplace. Products can be listed on Amazon, stock can be synchronized, and Amazon orders can flow into your operating workflow. This requires an Amazon seller account, application authorization and either an integration extension or your own SP-API connector.

Use WordPress only to send visitors to Amazon
If your site is editorial or promotional and simply sends readers to an Amazon product page, you only need an ordinary link or approved affiliate implementation. There is no catalog creation, inventory feed, order import or SP-API seller authorization in this model.
What you need before starting
- A WordPress installation with administrator access. Keep WordPress and WooCommerce on supported, updated versions before adding an integration.
- WooCommerce. It supplies the product, price, stock and order objects that an integration maps to Amazon. A content-only WordPress site cannot provide those commerce records without a store layer.
- An Amazon Professional selling account. Amazon states that only Professional selling accounts can access Developer Central and create an SP-API developer profile. Amazon’s page accessed in 2026 shows a Professional account price of $39.99 per month plus selling fees; pricing, taxes, promotions and marketplace terms can change, so verify the current charge in your target marketplace.
- A seller application and authorization. The application must be registered and authorized before production calls can be made.
- Product data that Amazon can accept. Prepare SKUs, identifiers, titles, descriptions, images, condition, price, quantity, shipping information and category attributes. Some products may require additional approval or eligibility checks.
- SSL and a controlled test environment. Use HTTPS for WordPress and begin with Amazon’s sandbox or a small, controlled production SKU set.
Choose an integration approach
| Decision area | Maintained extension | Custom SP-API connector |
|---|---|---|
| Supported marketplaces and regions | Depends on the extension’s current documentation and vendor implementation; verify every target marketplace before purchase. | You select the marketplaces and regional endpoints, subject to Amazon approval, permissions and API availability. |
| Listing and product-schema coverage | Common product mappings are supplied for you, but coverage varies by category and extension version. | You control product-type schemas, feeds, validation and category-specific fields, but must build and maintain them. |
| Inventory and order direction | May provide one-way or two-way scheduled syncs, webhooks or polling. Direction and timing are extension-specific. | You define whether WooCommerce or Amazon is authoritative and implement each direction, retry and conflict rule. |
| Fulfillment and shipment support | Some extensions expose shipment, cancellation or fulfillment functions; others stop at listings and stock. | You can implement the operations your permissions and workflow require, including shipment and cancellation handling. |
| Authentication and permissions | The extension normally handles authorization screens and token storage, but you still need to review requested permissions. | Your application must implement Login with Amazon authorization, token refresh, regional routing and secure credential storage. |
| Error recovery and observability | Quality varies. Check whether logs include Amazon request IDs, rejected attributes, retry status and exportable records. | You choose logging, alerting, idempotency, retries, dashboards and dead-letter handling. |
| Update cadence | Compatibility depends on the vendor keeping pace with WooCommerce, WordPress and Amazon changes. WooCommerce documentation emphasizes regular updates for compatibility, security and performance. | You own updates when Amazon changes models, permissions, rate limits or deprecates an operation. |
| Vendor support | Available support, response times and documentation are vendor-specific. | Support comes from your own team or contractor; Amazon documentation covers the API, not your business rules. |
| Total cost | Usually combines extension licensing or service charges with setup and support; current amounts are not established here. | Includes engineering, hosting, monitoring, maintenance and possible operational support. |
| Lock-in and export | Check whether products, mappings, orders and logs remain usable if the extension is removed. | Your database and code can preserve your model, but migration is your responsibility. |
For a small catalog with conventional products, an actively maintained extension is usually the faster starting point. A custom connector is justified when you need unusual product schemas, several marketplaces, custom fulfillment rules, strict audit logs or control over every synchronization decision. No single third-party connector is established here as universally maintained, fully two-way, correctly priced and compatible with every region; verify those details directly before committing.

Register and authorize an Amazon SP-API application
Amazon describes SP-API as a REST-based interface for automating selling operations such as order processing, shipment tracking, payment management, inventory levels, product listings and pricing. Its onboarding sequence is designed to prove your application in a sandbox before production use.
- Prepare for registration. Decide which selling account, legal entity, marketplaces and operations the application will serve. Limit the initial scope to the flows you can test and support.
- Create a Solution Provider Portal account. Use Amazon’s provider onboarding process and record the account owner and administrator details.
- Create a developer profile. Amazon requires a Professional selling account and the primary account user for SP-API Developer Central access.
- Register a sandbox application. Enter the application identity, redirect information and requested roles. A public application intended for multiple sellers requires Amazon approval before Appstore publication; an internal application has a different distribution path.
- Make a sandbox call. Validate that your credentials, request signing or authorization flow, endpoint selection and response handling work before touching live listings.
- Set up seller authorization. The seller grants your application access through Amazon’s authorization flow. Store the resulting identifiers securely and document which seller and marketplace each authorization covers.
Implement authentication and regional routing
A production request needs more than a WordPress API key. Amazon’s connection example uses a Login with Amazon access token, an SP-API regional endpoint, an operation path, a marketplaceIds query parameter and headers that include the access token, date and user-agent. Amazon states that an LWA access token must be included in calls to all operations except restricted operations.

Match the endpoint to the marketplace
SP-API endpoints are regional. Amazon lists endpoint families for North America, Europe and the Far East, each associated with an AWS region. Select the endpoint family and marketplace ID that correspond to the seller’s target marketplace. Do not assume that a store’s WordPress hosting region determines the correct Amazon endpoint.
Keep tokens out of WordPress content
Do not paste client secrets, refresh tokens or seller credentials into product descriptions, theme files or shared page builders. Store secrets in protected server-side configuration or a dedicated secret manager, restrict administrator access, rotate credentials when personnel change and redact tokens from logs.
Map WooCommerce products to Amazon’s catalog
Mapping is the part that determines whether a listing can actually be created. A product that looks complete in WooCommerce may still fail Amazon validation because a required category attribute, identifier or offer field is missing.
| WooCommerce data | Amazon listing concern | Implementation check |
|---|---|---|
| SKU | Offer and inventory identity | Use a stable, unique SKU and define what happens when it changes. Changing identifiers casually can create duplicate offers. |
| Global product identifier | Catalog matching and eligibility | Provide the identifier Amazon’s product type expects, or follow the applicable exemption process if one exists. |
| Title and description | Category rules and content quality | Map plain, validated text and preserve required product facts without unsupported claims. |
| Images | Image requirements and variation relationships | Check file availability, dimensions, main-image rules and whether each variation needs its own image set. |
| Condition | Offer eligibility and buyer disclosure | Map WooCommerce condition values to Amazon’s accepted values rather than sending free-form text. |
| Price | Offer pricing | Choose the authoritative price system, apply currency and tax rules deliberately, and log rejected updates. |
| Quantity | Sellable inventory | Define safety stock and reservation behavior so simultaneous WooCommerce and Amazon orders do not oversell. |
| Shipping and fulfillment | Delivery promise and operational status | Map the service, handling time and fulfillment method you can actually meet. |
| Category attributes | Product-type validation | Build a category-specific mapping table and mark fields as required, conditional or optional. |
Discovery comes before submission
Amazon’s listing lifecycle has three stages: discovery, creation and maintenance. During discovery, determine whether the product already exists in Amazon’s catalog, whether your seller is eligible to offer it and which product type and attributes apply. This avoids creating a new catalog item when you should be matching an existing one.

Creation is a controlled write
Submit only the required, validated product data first. Capture Amazon’s response, submission identifier and any attribute-level issues. A successful HTTP response is not the same as a buyable offer; your connector must read the resulting status.
Maintenance is continuous
After creation, monitor listing state, buyability and issues. Update price, quantity and content when the authoritative WooCommerce record changes, and process Amazon-side warnings or suppressions instead of treating the initial submission as a finished job.

- Start with a pilot. Select a small set of representative SKUs, including at least one variation or category edge case if your catalog uses them.
- Sync catalog identity first. Confirm SKU and catalog matches before enabling automatic price or quantity writes.
- Enable inventory next. Decide whether WooCommerce stock, an ERP, or Amazon fulfillment is authoritative. Reserve stock for pending orders according to your own cancellation policy.
- Add order import. Map Amazon order IDs, buyer-safe order data, line items, taxes, shipping addresses and status transitions into WooCommerce without duplicating an order on retries.
- Add shipment and cancellation flows. Send tracking and shipment confirmations only after your warehouse has accepted the order. Map cancellations and refunds to explicit, auditable states.
- Add pricing last. Pricing rules often involve currency, tax, minimum margins and marketplace-specific constraints. Test them independently from stock synchronization.
SP-API supports these operation categories, but the exact roles, permissions and operations depend on the application. Request only the permissions required for the current stage and expand the scope after each flow is validated.
Define authority and conflict rules before going live
Two systems changing the same value without a documented owner creates loops and silent overwrites. Write these rules down before enabling two-way sync:

- Widely Use Range - This NetumScan Handheld USB barcode scanner can be used in supermarkets, convenience stores, warehouse, library, bookstore, drugstore, retail shop for file management, inventory tracking and POS(point of sale), etc.
- Product content: choose WooCommerce or Amazon as the editorial source for each field. If Amazon normalizes a title or attribute, record that result rather than repeatedly overwriting it.
- Price: specify whether Amazon receives the WooCommerce price, a marketplace adjustment or a separate pricing feed.
- Inventory: define safety stock, reservation timing, oversell behavior and what happens when an update is rejected.
- Orders: assign one immutable external order ID and make imports idempotent.
- Fulfillment status: define which event moves an order from paid to packed, shipped, delivered, cancelled or refunded.
- Retries: retry transient failures with backoff, but send validation failures to a review queue instead of retrying them indefinitely.
Test before production
Use the Amazon sandbox for authentication and representative API calls, then run a controlled production pilot. A practical test checklist includes:
- Authorization succeeds for the intended seller and expires or refreshes as expected.
- The selected endpoint and marketplace ID are correct for each target region.
- Existing catalog items are matched instead of duplicated.
- Required attributes, images, condition and identifiers pass validation.
- Price and quantity changes reach Amazon once, with safe retry behavior.
- Amazon orders import exactly once into WooCommerce.
- Shipment, cancellation and refund transitions remain understandable in both systems.
- Logs preserve timestamps, operation names, seller and marketplace context, response status and Amazon request IDs without exposing secrets.
- Alerts identify token expiry, rate limits, rejected submissions and listings that become unbuyable.
Troubleshoot common failures
The application cannot access Developer Central
Check that the selling account is Professional and that you are signed in as the primary account user. A basic selling account or a secondary user will not satisfy Amazon’s stated requirement for creating an SP-API developer profile.
Authorization succeeds but API calls fail
Verify that the access token is present, the token belongs to the authorized seller, the endpoint is in the correct regional family, and the marketplaceIds value matches the request. Confirm the required date and user-agent headers and inspect the operation’s role requirements.
A product submission is rejected
Return to discovery. Check catalog matching, seller eligibility, product type, required attributes, identifiers, condition and image rules. Save Amazon’s field-level issue rather than displaying only a generic “sync failed” message.

Stock keeps reverting
Look for two writers: a scheduled extension job, a custom connector, an inventory plugin or a manual Amazon edit. Identify the authoritative source, disable duplicate jobs and compare timestamps in both systems.
Orders are duplicated in WooCommerce
Use Amazon’s immutable order ID as an idempotency key. On retry, update the existing record instead of inserting another order. Keep a failed-import queue for records that need manual correction.

Listings exist but are not buyable
Listing creation is not the end of the lifecycle. Read listing status and issues, then check offer price, quantity, eligibility, fulfillment and required content. A successful submission can still produce a suppressed or non-buyable offer.
Do not confuse Amazon Payment Services with Marketplace synchronization
Amazon Payment Services documents a WooCommerce payment plugin installed through WordPress. Its prerequisites include WooCommerce, WordPress administrator access, a test account and SSL. That plugin concerns accepting payments in supported markets; it is not a connector for Amazon Marketplace catalog listings, inventory or order synchronization. Installing a payment gateway will not create Amazon offers or import marketplace orders.
Operate the connection after launch
- Review token expiry and authorization status on a schedule.
- Monitor API rate-limit responses and use backoff rather than uncontrolled retries.
- Keep request IDs and failed payload references so support staff can reproduce an issue.
- Review Amazon API models, permissions and deprecation notices before changing production code.
- Apply WooCommerce, WordPress, PHP and extension updates in staging, then test the pilot SKU set again.
- Export product mappings, order links and configuration so you can replace an extension or restore a connector without losing operational history.
- Restrict WordPress administrator roles and review who can alter prices, stock, credentials and synchronization settings.
Recommended rollout decision
Choose a maintained extension when you need conventional listings and a quick route to a small number of marketplaces, and confirm its current compatibility, price, permissions, synchronization direction and support before purchase. Choose a custom SP-API application when your catalog needs specialized schemas, your business spans regions, or you require explicit control of retries, audit logs, fulfillment and conflict resolution. In both cases, treat Amazon authorization, regional routing, catalog discovery and ongoing maintenance as core parts of the integration—not as optional steps after a plugin is installed.
