To create a Roblox Party, open Chat (or Party on accounts that still show the older tab name), select Start Party, choose friends, then select Start. You can also start one from an existing friend or group chat. A Party supports up to six users, and invitees must already be your friends.
Start a Roblox Party
- From the Roblox home screen, open Chat. Some accounts may show Party instead while Roblox rolls out the tab-name change by region. Roblox’s chat help explains messaging and chat access.
- Select Start Party.
- Choose the friends you want to invite, then select Start. A Party can include up to six users, and you can invite only existing friends. Roblox’s Party FAQ covers the feature and its limits.
Start from a conversation instead
Open a friend or group conversation and select Start in the upper-right corner to begin a Party from that chat.
Invite more friends or join a Party
Add friends after the Party starts
Open the Party sheet menu, select Add Friends, then choose friends to invite. The six-user maximum applies to the Party.
Join an active Party
Select Join in the Party invitation notification. If you dismissed or missed the notification, open Chat, find the group with an active Party, and select Join.

Play an experience together
A Party member can open the Party menu, select Play, choose an experience, then select Join with Party. Other members receive invitations and can decide whether to follow. Roblox says it finds a server that can accommodate the group and keeps a link so members can regroup. In experiences that support Roblox’s Party API, members may spawn together, share similar avatar clothing, or remain on the same matchmaking team; those behaviors are not guaranteed in every experience. Parties are available on mobile (iOS and Android), desktop, and console, according to the Party FAQ.
Leave a Party or its play session
Open the Party and select the red close button to leave the active co-play session. The group can continue playing, and you can still send Party chat messages after leaving the session. Previous participants can rejoin or be invited again.

Chat, voice, and age access
Starting or joining a Party is distinct from having access to all its communication features. Roblox says all users can create or join Parties, while chat and voice availability depends on factors including age, trusted-friend status, account settings, and region. Roblox’s current chat guidance says communication features require an age check and that features and parental-consent rules can differ by age group, feature, settings, and region. Trusted-friend availability also varies by country and age group; see Roblox’s trusted-friends guidance.

- Under 9: not eligible for Chat.
- Ages 9–12: chat outside a game is limited to trusted friends by default; parental approval is required to change this.
- Ages 13–17: can chat with friends subject to age groups.
- Ages 18 and older: chat without filters and voice chat with other users aged 18 and older.
If an option is missing, check Settings > Privacy & content maturity > Communication and the applicable parental controls rather than assuming the Party itself is unavailable. Roblox’s Parental Controls Overview describes controls for Party and Group Party.

Only friends can add users to Party chats. To limit or disable participation, open Settings > Privacy & content maturity > Communication > Party and adjust who can add you to a 1:1 Party or group Party. Selecting No one turns Party participation off for that setting. Roblox’s Party FAQ and parental controls guide explain the available controls. You can also manage connections, block someone, or remove yourself from a Party. Roblox says its chats are monitored and its Community Standards apply.
